Celebrity Big Brother to return to C4 for one last time?

In January?

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/gameon/vi...-to-Channel-4/

I know it's the Daily Star but... :conf:

Kerry 12-09-2010 12:51 AM

Interesting...... Yeah Daily Star but ..... interesting.......

King Gizzard 12-09-2010 12:53 AM

It would just make UBB pointless. Plus they could of thought of this before hand and just had UBB in January.

DigitalMethod 12-09-2010 12:55 AM

If this happens (and yes id love it)... WTF was the point of last night? It would seem so stupid.

Jordan. 12-09-2010 12:55 AM

I really doubt this tbh.

As good as it would be i think it would only make people angry at channel 4 for saying UBB was the last then bringing it back as normal.

Desmond [new owner of Five...wants to buy BB] owns the Daily Star though. What would he have to gain by publishing this?

And IIRC, they got these right during BB11:

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/bigbrothe...ck-the-winner/

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/bigbrothe...-in-the-house/

I know they're far from the most reliable of papers but they've not ALWAYS been wrong.

Visage 12-09-2010 12:59 AM

Ya see, this is where I became slightly confused.

I remember reading (around the time it was announced Big Brother was going to end) that CBB was still planning to go ahead. Bizarre thing is that Davina said 'This will be the last time I say this' on numerous occasions.

I hope it does go ahead.

Jack_ 12-09-2010 01:02 AM

Thing is...what if their contact with Endemol isn't up yet? Then they're entitled to another CBB...

I am sure when they signed the last contract they agreed a certain number of BB's and the exact same number of CBB's. That would mean, technically speaking, CBB would always be the last as it's always shown in the January following BB. It doesn't start the BB season, it ends it.

IIRC, the last contract was signed after BB7/CBB5...so that would mean 4 extra BB series, and 4 extra CBB series [except CBB in 2008 was cancelled]. We have had a CBB following BB9 and 10, but not 11. So surely they're entitled to one?

Kerry 12-09-2010 01:04 AM

BB did end with "BB will get back to you....."

I admit I'll be surprised if it ever returns. Sucessfully anyway. But I'd always give it a try

Kerry 12-09-2010 01:05 AM

And Davina said "Night night" and not goodbye :D

LOL clutching straws but hey, you gotta gossip :joker:

Jack_ 12-09-2010 01:08 AM

I've never been a huge fan of CBB so I don't know if I'd want it back, especially if that really would be the 'end'. I would hate it to finish on CBB.

I guess at least we'd have BB in some form though...

...or we could hang on to the hope that they were impressed with BB11's/UBB's ratings and would be impressed with CBB8's ratings and then would go back on their decision and continue with BB12...I can dream...

GypsyGoth 12-09-2010 01:09 AM

I'd love another CBB if we have live feed.

I can't see them ending on a Celeb BB really. They had so called celebs in 'Ultimate'. I can see there being more uproar than fans and even fans revolting

MrMarky has also said on Twitter:

'The Application for the extension (for the BB House) with borehamwood council got accepted.'

...which would suggest that the show is continuing in some form. He also seems to be telling people this article is 'confirmed'.

I can't see it happening, on C4 at least. Channel 4's done with Big Brother now.

Malza 12-09-2010 01:28 AM

would be quite pointless after the official BB funeral

It would make them look pretty silly.

Oh I thought you meant the whole forum closing down. A lot of people have been wondering if it will.

teetotal_michael 12-09-2010 07:29 AM

Thought I'd do some of my own digging around, guess what I've found...

Thought I'd do some of my own investigation into planning permission rather than go on what other people say, and it turns out there is some substance to what has been said. I've attached a screenshot of the planning application;

http://www.mk-software-solutions.co.uk/Capture.PNG

BUT, it gets better...

Here are links to the documents attached to the application;

http://www2.hertsmere.gov.uk/ACOLNET...CS/38531_1.pdf
http://www2.hertsmere.gov.uk/ACOLNET...CS/38532_1.pdf

The second one is the one of interest, especially section 6 on page 2!

Happy reading :)

Big Brother the reincarnation...rises from the dead.

BBfan46 12-09-2010 09:34 AM

Don't know what to make of that.

NeoPhoenix 12-09-2010 09:48 AM

Damn, I hope there's not another BB soon. I'm american, and I've loved BB10 (my first experience with BBUK), BB11, and UBB, but damn do you guys run BB into the ground. No wonder it's gone off the air lol. It's so overexposed, it is ridiculous. Not only is there a show daily but all these spinoff shows like BBLB and BBBM just serve to water down the show. It'd be a nice change of pace (if it did come back) if it was somewhat americanized for a season where it aired maybe every other day and had more of a gameplay aspect to it. To me it'd be pretty cool to see how the housemates would adjust to that type of series, at least just for one season.

Jords 12-09-2010 10:45 AM

Would be good but would look tacky after the whole 'this is the last time' shenanigens on Friday.

Jamesy 12-09-2010 11:01 AM

Wouldn't surprise me if CBB came back again, the ratings were great with the last CBB so it would make sense to bring it back. But it does make C4 look like idiots with all this: "The last BB EVER" crap.

bigbrothermaniac008 12-09-2010 11:03 AM

It is 100% Happening, As the lease to keep the house has been extended. Exept will Davina return?

Celebrity Big Brother In January, But Channel 5 BB auditions will not be able to start till Feb as they cannot make an announcement that BB will return till its finished on C4.

Nah us british like "reality tv" not the over dramatised american "reaity" shows.

You guys seem to like to play dramatic music over everything.

OMG No thank you, the American version is pants compared to the British version. The public have no say in the outcome of evictions etc and it's completely over dramatised.

E4 screened the American version a couple of years ago and dropped it like a hot brick due to poor viewing figures. I'm not surprised, I sat through 2 episodes and thought what a load of ****e it was compared to the British version and never watched anymore.

You've sent us Shameless and Desperate Housewives, PLEASE spare us from an Americanised Big Brother!!!

I'm not a fan of BB US being so dramatized. What I was referring to when I said to maybe americanize it for a season had more to do with the structure of the show. First thing being, stop showing it every single bloody day. That and cutting out all the filler shows like BBBM and BBLB. It's just a completely overexposed show which is why it's dead now while the American version is still trucking along. When it's not aired every single day, there's a bit more excitement when you finally do get to watch an episode. I like BBUK, it's much different than the American version but I find myself getting a bit bored with it towards the end of a series. It all becomes a tad bit predictable at that point.

And really, what's wrong with not letting the public decide who goes? I can't count how many times I've come on this forum lurking and seen people bitching halfway through the season because the public decide to vote out all the interesting and entertaining housemates in the early evictions leaving the boring, nice housemates in the house. It gets so boring they have to introduce new housemates throughout the series to liven things up again. BB11 somewhat rectified that by having the save/replace tasks. If not for those, Dave would have been out pretty early on. I didn't like Dave early in the series, but he grew on me in the later weeks. Letting the public decide was also the reason Steve, one of the most utterly worthless and boring housemates I've ever seen, was allowed to stay for so long. Reason being is people in the house were too afraid to nominate him because it might make them look bad to the public. I'm not asking for it be a full on copy of BBUS, but I think adding some elements from it would make it an even better show than it already is.

BBUS takes a bit to get into. I didn't like it at first with the first season I watched. It's when alliances get formed and all the "fat" in the house gets trimmed that it becomes really entertaining. Though this past season has been kind of disappointing to be honest. It's usually pretty good once it gets rolling though.
