Nostalgia..

I always think nostalgia is a very strange emotion.. almost impossible to describe. For me music can make me more nostalgic than anything else..

So what music makes you feel nostalgic?

I heard this today and it took me right back to a happy, carefree time and I could almost smell the dry ice that used to be puffed onto the dancefloor in copious amounts until you couldn't see anybody!

setanta 01-10-2010 03:36 PM

There used to be an ad on telly that used this song when I was a child, and anytime I hear it now it brings me back to my grandparents and stuff. Yep, very sad altogether.

Lee. 01-10-2010 03:38 PM

^^That song makes me sad :(

setanta 01-10-2010 03:39 PM

Oh, and old cartoon theme songs obviously take me back too.

Lee. 01-10-2010 04:50 PM

This one reminds me of a holiday to Spain when I was v young. It makes me feel very very nostalgic.

Lee. 01-10-2010 11:58 PM

TV shows always make me nostalgic, Big Brother has been the worst for it. Every single series represents something to me because it took up so much time each summer

One song that makes me nostalgic (and I can't listen to it without upsetting me, not that I ever want to anyway) is this one, one of my nanas favourite songs and the words just have the whole passage of time thing

Piano music also makes me really nostalgic for no apparent reason, this one is the worst for it

This one beacuse its one of the first songs I properly remember

and then this version of Hallelujah from Shrek which is better than the Leonard/Jeff versions. no reason at all for that one, it just does

setanta 03-10-2010 11:25 PM

I love Rufus Wainwright but nah, his version is nowhere near theres, in my opinion anyway.

I can't take to the other versions like other people can. I like Alex's version too but I treat that as a different song because its so different

Lee. 03-10-2010 11:35 PM

Tom.. weird. I was just talking about Doris Day earlier to James! I just found out today that's she's not dead! Yay!
I was positive she died!
I was watching Calamity Jane earlier.. that makes me feel nostalgic! My sis and I used to watch that over and over and over again! :D

BB_Eye 04-10-2010 02:19 PM

Anything by Pulp really, lol.

By the way, Vevo are total arseholes. They censor lyrics -no joke, how indescribably lame can you get?- and have even blocked "Help the Aged" in the UK.

Tom4784 04-10-2010 03:09 PM

Reminds me of being a little kid, It was pretty much my first ever favourite song although I don't like it much now.

the 2006 release was around the time I first started going out with my girlfriend so makes me nostalgic for that. i even get butterflies when I listen to this :blush2:

Patrick 04-10-2010 07:28 PM

It's strange you should make this because I've been listening to some songs today from the noughties that have brought me back to better years when everything was awesome and simple.

You never realise how good the year is until it's long gone.

Songs and TV Shows make me nostalgic.

You just made me think of something that somebody said to me recently..

"Day to day, nothing changes, but over the years, everything has"

So true :)

Lee. 06-10-2010 01:40 PM

I posted this in another thread the other day and can't stop listening to it! Pure goosebumping nostalgia!

lol 07-10-2010 05:02 PM

I wasn't really born into the "good ol' days", but listening to any of Metallica's early stuff or Iron Maidens, and then listening to the music out these days, I was born in the wrong generation.

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 11-10-2010 11:50 PM

Rewatching the first season of Lost recently took me back to Craig's eviction in BB6, the night it first started.

And this song came on a music channel and took me back to primary school...

I couldn't find the official video so excuse the miming bint ruining it.

Moon River - Breakfast at Tiffany's

When I was in a class years ago, our tutor asked us to bring our favourite record.
I borrowed a rumba music record (Bond film- You only live twice) from my husband.
The tutor played each one's record one by one.
Then I was completely shocked a music which I had never heard before brought by a boy who had long blond hair (this was 70s) and the last word I could described him as romantic.
Every time I hear this music I would remember the boy.
Fleetwood Mac - Albatross

This is a TV programme, 70s~80s.
