Whether You Believe In 2012's Doomsday Or Not...
 

...There's no denying this will be a very scary and interesting year.

Sorry to interrupt everyone's X Factor chat but this is worth discussing IMO.

I mean yes we all have mixed views, there is those of us that believe that 2012 will be the end of the world, those of us that think it won't be but it will be the end of the world as we know it, people that think jack all will happen and then there's the majority of silly people that don't even know what the big deal is with 2012 or any of the many reasons backing up the fact it may be the end of the world.

We have all had this argument before but I've done some research when I was bored the other night just refreshing my mind on the Two Thousand & Twelve situation and I realised there's alot more to it than just 'The Mayan calender ends that day in 2012'.

May I remind you all of Planet X?

Now I hope to god there is some people on here that are with me and know what Planet X is?
I actually asked my Science teacher about this and you know what she said? Well this is how it went,

Class was messing around and I stuck my hand up and said 'Miss, Have you heard of Planet X?' and she said 'Yeah it's a bike company..'

I was like 'No... it's a planet coming closer to earth' to which she said 'Oh.. well yeah it's also a bike company.'

How on earth did this idiot get into teaching?

Anyway, for those of you that do not know, Planet X is a pink planet that has been traveling towards earth for many years.
In 2004 Nasa announced that Planet X isn't that far away, the last picture of Planet X was took in 2008 and nothing has been said since other than Planet X will be visable from earth by no later than 2011 and it will look like a second sun in our sky.

So I am rather excited to seeing the big pink planet in the sky next year, however the fact is Planet X is getting closer and it probably will hit earth.
What are Nasa going to do? Destroy an entire planet? I think not.

Then of course as another member of TiBB pointed out about a week ago, Nasa have been watching this story since 2006, a meteor storm is coming straight in our direction.
As many of you know there was a little meteor storm back in Summer 2010 there.
That is nothing more than just a 'baby storm' compared to the one heading our direction, thankfully this is very unlikely to actually KILL life on earth, it will however have enough power to wipe out energy/electricity/power etc etc on Earth for a very long time, infact we could be left like that until 2016.

Surely this will have some effect on food? If it does, we could all starve to death.

Personally, I hope that is the only thing happening in 2012, because that would be the end of the world as we know it rather than kill us all.
And I don't want to die tbh, because I don't believe in God but I'm rather afraid of going to hell.

But yeah I mean weither you believe in 2012's Doomsday Stories or not, there's no denying that year will be quite frightening.

You will have people worrying, people partying [Bring It On], people going bonkers as the year concludes and more and more stories coming out from money makers scaring us all.

And of course there's that 'Should I do my christmas shopping in 2012 or not?' thing seeing as 'Earth's Final Day' is meant to be the 21st December 2012.

I mean especially December of 2012, That month will just be hell on earth.

In 2013 I reckon we'll look back and think how stupid it was to worry about the world ending in 2012.

That Planet X thing does sound interesting though, I'll try and find out more about it.

I was reading it and was likie :shocked: and then it said 'Summer 2003' and I laughed.

Yeah, what was the 'evidence' people had that made them think 2000 would be the last year?

I mean there's alot of stories that are making people believe 2012, did people just believe the end of the world would be 2000 because it's no longer the melinium?

Planet X (called Nibiru by some) had an encounter with Earth in 2003 and caused a shifting of the Earth's poles which is supposed to cause an end to our civilization. This is a very silly theory backed by bad science and old news articles that unfortunately some people believe.

There's been theories like this since the beginning of time. 2000, the battle of good and evil was meant to occur and the Y2K 'problem' had everyone in a fritz and **** all happened. Lets face it these dates were predicted by illogical morons from thousands of years ago. The Mayan calender doesn't end on December 21st 2012, It RESTARTS that's all it is. Planet X will not hit us, if there was ever any real danger the press would be all over it. I've heard every theory about 2012 from ****ty documentaries to my deluded step brother did you know another theory was that Maddas (Saddam backwards) is meant to take over the World and destroy us all too? So where the **** is this Maddas? It's lies and people are using it to scare people for merchandising and unfortunately Patrick you've walked straight in to it.

Are you sure now? I dont wanna buy a weeks shopping if Ill only need 3 days worth of food.

Plus it's the run up to Xmas, you'd have bought a turkey for nothing!

It's not going to happen. I was fascinated by this theory at first but every programme I've watched on it, they've all said it's a hoax and nothing will happen.

2012 isn't the end of the world, it's just the end of the Mayan Calender, if there was any serious and true astrological threats we'd be aware of it by now. The only eerie thing of note is the solar flare that's supposed to happen in 2012 but that's not gonna kill us all, it'll just mess with our technology a bit, and even that is an if as the media likes to report on the worst possible scenario instead of being realistic. Just look at Swine Flu and Bird Flu, half of us should be dead if the media was to be believed about it.

Yeah, its just a bunch of idiots. Just look at the video that I posted. They can't prove anything. Scientists and everyone in that kind of field say that nothing will happen.

I wonder how many people will kill themselves because they believe all of this is really gonna happen? Thats quite scary.

Yeah there's no denying there will be a mass number of suicide cases in December 2012.

I can't wait though until that night because it'll be such a ******ing epic atmosphere.

That will be one massive challenge for everyone I'm sure, we will realise how much we rely on the internet and television.. will that be gone too?

Nof if anything happens it'll probably be a blip rather then some catastrophe, it'll end up being that your internet goes a bit slower for a few minutes and your phone becomes a bit crackly :joker:

There's nothing to worry about, if this Solar flare was a serious threat then Nasa and them lot would not be sittting around picking their noses they'd be working on something to protect the phone lines and such.

I don't belive it will happen but there are people who DO want it to happen, There is also the chance that a man made event could trigger the end of the world (War , technology etc)

Why the panic about the end of the Mayan Long Count( the big wheel calendar)? It isnt the first time it has ended, stella and codex found at various sites show they held the belief there were previous counts before and also intended to have counts after it.

This is a bit like primary school children seeing the calendar on the notice board at school only goes up to the end of december, and declaring the world will end on the 31st because there is nothing after it.

As for the solar flares, in the 19th century during a similar period of increased solar activity telegraph wires were burnt out in several countries. However since then telephone wires, energy power lines etc are now protected against surges in the energy they carry and external power surges like EMP(electromagnetic pulses)

There is the potential for certain types of radio communication to be disrupted, like HF radio because of the disruption that may be caused to the Ionosphere by solar flare activity, however this will eventually settle and right itself.

Actually I was only asking for other peoples opinions and thoughts, I have had mixed opinions on the whole doomsday thing since I heard about a few years back, I keep hearing about this Y2K thing that you pointed out.,

I may go and research it now.
