Joe is an epic flop- #6 (now #21)

Locke. 17-10-2010 05:33 PM

Worse than Leon :)

Smithy 17-10-2010 05:34 PM

:laugh2:

Said this as soon as he won last year

SacredDiablo 17-10-2010 05:39 PM

stacey solomon would have made it to no.1 in the charts

Zippy 17-10-2010 05:43 PM

Dramaqueen.

No need for the word epic. Its a relative flop but he still has a shot with the right release. I think a ballad would have been safer as a kick off track.

Plus pretty male popstars have been out of vogue for some years now(apart from tweeny magnet Bieber). Not sure why but it seems to be all about female solo stars.

And him declaring his love of dick wouldnt have helped either. Maybe he needs to scramble back into the closet and lose the cheesy choreography and styling?

Jack_ 17-10-2010 05:44 PM

I feel sorry for him, he doesn't deserve it really [and it's made worse by the fact that he apparently was scared sh!tless for his career after what happened to Leon]...

Looks like Shayne might be heading down the same route as well [purposely] except that's down to the terrible mismanagement that he is being given...

MTVN 17-10-2010 05:44 PM

Took me a while to realise what this was about, that really is embarassing

Stacey was another Leona, really...so there was no point in her winning

Winning by a big margin in front of 19m viewers and then promoting your 'anticipated' first single in front of 15m viewers only to get to #6 :joker:

He doesnt even have the consolation of getting the 'given' number 1 at the end of the series :pat:

She released a track and it flopped. And it was a charity single too.

So no.

Shaun 17-10-2010 05:50 PM

is this with physical release too? :/ oh dear.

That isn't necessarily a bad thing, she's done well, and her new album is meant to be all uptempo and stuff, plus Stacey had a personality, which as you keep banging on about it oh so important

Er, no she didn't the track was never physically released, plus it wasn't even under her name on iTunes, her vocals boosted the album sales and it got #5

I never said I didn't like her, I did, and I enjoyed it when she appeared on BBLB this summer. She's funny. It's just that she would've gone down the same route as Leona [ballad after ballad] and her sound is pretty much the same. So there was no point in her winning, really.

Well then again you could say theres no point in Joe winning, he's just gone and done the exact same thing as all the other previous male winners. I'd have sooner had a relatively successful similar winner than a flop

Kate! 17-10-2010 06:08 PM

I got Leon's album and it was amazing, he has a fantastic voice, in the style of his idol Michael Buble.

Not his fault that type of music ain't everyone's cup of tea.

I still think he was great!

Stacey went on TV shows plugging it. And if she hasnt even released anything then she's even more of a flop. Even Craig and Nichola from BB1 got to release records! LOL

I love Stacey and think she's hilarious but she would never be successful as a recording artist. TV is where she should aim for.

And who cares about what week Joe got to number one? The RATM nonsense was no reflection on Joe or his popularity. It was a campaign, end of.

Stacey was plugging the album because she was a featured artist, she wasn't plugging it as her single

and you can't be a flop if you don't release anything ;) its just illogical

Vladimir 17-10-2010 06:26 PM

omg, poor thing. :( hope it'll get higher next week.

M X 17-10-2010 06:26 PM

She's a flop at getting a record deal then!

Jamietwo 17-10-2010 06:32 PM

I don't think the state of the music charts is simons or x factors fault, it's just a talent competition and very entertaining at times. but i don't think it should be expected that winners are automatically made into pop stars. capitalism has affected everything from video games to music, we are in a period of history that is all about cynical money making. Good luck to Leon and Joe, they are good singers and i'm glad they won, but i hope we all live long enough to see a period of originality and meaning again, that is absent from our culture today.

I would have been happier if it didn't even chart.

I think shes recording an album.

And it aint an EPIC flop tbh, although I didnt think he'd do that well either (but I like the song surprisingly!)

Zippy 17-10-2010 06:47 PM

Joe will do well in the entertainment business regardless. He's perfect for the West end. Its not all about the charts. Especially these days when selling music doesnt even make much money with all the downloading.

Most performers are just happy to make a decent living from doing what they love. He has the voice and the personality to get work constantly. And Im sure he has already made some decent money.

Plus the world of musical theatre will be gay heaven for him. Bless.

Have you ever considered working in PR?

He'll be fine in the West End, aka the graveyard for burnt out recording artists. If thats the case then he's stolen the record contract from someone who could have done much more with it

You don't really get a second chance on Syco, as Steve Brookstein and Leon Jackson will happily tell you.

Iceman 17-10-2010 09:31 PM

Delighted :)

Wow, Joe is a flop entering the chart at number 6 this week, Pixie Lott has come in at 12 she must be a disaster then.
What is this obseesion that unless a record gets to number one in its first week that its a flop, he has entered at 6 in a top 75 chart for goodness sake, I bet loads of singers wish they could do that.
