Mario/Ben general discussion thread.

So many threads about each have been closed the past few days, either for people arguing or the thread going off topic.

This way, you cant go off topic as long as long as you are discussing anything to do with either of the above housemates ;)

The insults need to stop though, as this WILL be closed if it goes down the same track as the other ones have, play nice people :)

Now for a start I would like to discuss why it is that some people think that Ben should have carried on letting Mario maul and harass him without comment, as I remember it Mario went into major sulk mode when he realised he was getting nowhere with Ben sexually.
I also remember Ben trying desperately to talk to Mario about it and resolve the situation........Mario just ignored him and would not discuss it at all, he would just blank him, so why is it surprising that Ben would turn to others to talk about the situation that was ruining his time in there,.
Ben could make no sense out of Mario's behaviour, and it worried him too.I think it quite normal to discuss with others what was troubling him, after all Mario did not want to discuss.

Vodka Drinka 27-11-2010 04:01 PM

Mario made Ben's time in the house hell, and all because he didn't return his affections. That proves to me that he has quite serious issues. He's never learned to handle rejection properly.

Jack_ 27-11-2010 04:07 PM

Mario was a total ****ing bore and so was Ben, other than the times when he was winding the other housemates up.

Sam > John James > Shabby > Govan > Rachael >

The rest were useless, really.

You think that Govan and Rachael was good housemates?

Rachael was pretty but vacuous and boring, and Govan was a nasty, whiny, bitchy two faced twonk. He also looked like Gollum.

Locke. 27-11-2010 04:19 PM

Ben was the only good housemate and Mario was a complete dickhead.

But I don't see the point in arguing about it months after the show ended.

I agree with you. But Mario seems to have issues letting go. Probably because his whole life seemed to be consumed by Big Brother and getting on the show. And now it's all over he's got nothing else to dedicate his life to... sad really.

Wrong. Her arguments with John James in the first week proved why it would've been fantastic to keep her in - imagine ten weeks of that. By the end of it I imagine there would've been a lot of tension. There were groups forming and evicting her first was completely the wrong decision.

I think it was the right thing for BB to do, putting BB fans or people who had auditioned many times like Mario and Corin in the final show and I don't agree with BB putting in housemates who didn't want to go in the house and didn't watch the show like Keeva, Ben and some housemates from this and other years

I have to say that no one 'doesn't want to go in the house', otherwise they simply would not have gone through the audition process, so that really is a non discussion point.

There are good reasons why people who have auditioned multiple times aren't selected after their first, second, third, fourth time etc....... such as Mario as one example that you gave. From my own p.o.v., I found Mario to be incredibly creepy, a bit of a leering, lecherous type and I wonder if that may have been a reason for him not being selected before.

I am however, interested in why you don't agree that people who have not watched the show should have been put in?

Err, no...infact, if anything, that would've meant he would've been selected way before BB11. Do you not remember Craig BB6?

With this being the final BB if I had been choosing housematess I would have given fans who were suitable the chance to appear. I don't agree with people being invited to apply/audion or bypass the process altogether in this or any previous year.

I agree he would have been selected earlier

But the thread was about Ben/Mario - which I why I didn't bring in comparison. Oh I remember Craig, he was a total bunny boiler - he was worse, but as I say, I was trying to keep on topic.

Yes, I understand you don't agree, but your earlier post said you didn't agree with people being selected who had not watched the show - it's on that point I asked why you don't agree that people who have not watched the show, should have been given a place.

I'm not altogether sure that those casting would have went for types like Craig / Mario with their OTT obessions on the romantic stakes - I would imagine you wouldn't be able to pre-empt a person being like that unless you were actually watching them whilst they had a 'thing' for another housemate.

Mind you in saying that, thinking back to the real nut jobs that came in over the years........ aye, you might have a point !

Because they haven't a clue about what to expect once in the house, reception rooms and jigsaws I think in Ben's case and ignore the rules, don't take part in tasks, and in some cases turn out to be rubbish housemates as was the case with Derek BB6

I understand your point, though given what you have said though, BB11 had one of the most prolific BB 'fans'/ watchers in John James - he knew every single thing about the show and he refused to take part in tasks, time and time again - so I'm not sure your point holds out when you consider John James, and the amount of times he continually broke the rules (speaking in code, taking mikes off, refusing tasks etc) but hey, that's your opinion - thanks for replying to my question.

For my part though, I'd rather have some that were less 'savvy' about how to play the show, less aware of how it all works - otherwise you get what we had in recent years, and most definately this year - a housefull of people with the vast majority of them having only one main purpose - to propel themselves to zceleb status.

In fact, in Ben's case, I recall the Army Instructor task that he refused to do:- I thought that was really funny, as well as they way he nominated someone else to take his place, and it ruffled a few feathers along the way - all the type of thing that the viewers want, I mean, having people do every single thing that BB wants them to do: it would be less watchable to an extent.

John James made out that he wasn't such a big fan though, then it turned out he was.

Don't know if that was the case, all I was doing was showing that people who do actually watch the show, know all about it, how it works, also refuse to take part in task, break rules, etc. That's not something that's soley the behaviour of people who haven't watched the show. If anything, those who know how the show works, will know exactly how to get more airtime.....and it certainly worked a treat for John James eh.

It's only a differing opinion, nothing more, nothing less - but it's part of why I like people in the show who haven't got a clue what's going on- whether Ben or any other who hasn't really watched it before they entered.

Mario and his fans have been quite vile to myself and the other Bennites, both here on other forums. His friend Gary (I'm sure he reads this), who posts over on DS was especially out of order last night. Incidently it was this Gary who caused all of this trouble in the first place by lying to Mario and accusing us of baiting them.

MARIO IS A UGLY SLIMY BIT OF SCUM AND ALL HIS FANS SHOULD ROT!!111111!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, people are still getting angry over this!

On topic, I only saw the first few weeks but I was Team Ben... Mario was quite slimy. All he did was get naked and moan.

I don't agree that Mario or his fans have been vile. Ben fans are the ones going on and on about him, starting threads in various place which are anti Mario. Have we started anti Ben threads because I haven't noticed any

Here's some advice, it's okay to critcise former housemates but please leave off on name calling to posters.

I enjoy reading about the variouos views re the two housemates in question but feel it tends to degenerate quite quickly. For this one time, can we please listen to the advice the mods keep repeating.

Mario and his fans are deeply unpleasant. I now have personal experience of this.

Suze 29-11-2010 09:42 PM

This is my first post in this thread and whilst I agree this should be about the ex housemates, not their fans. I also have to say that Voddy is right about nastiness elsewhere being directed towards here and DS from some Mario fans, not all Mario fans. There are quite a few Mario fans on DS and some I have come across on here who are really nice, but there are a few and one in particular urging others on twitter to goad and bait Ben fans on here and DS, making sure a few saw it, then quickly deleting the tweets. They weren't just nasty tweets they went way over the line imo. If they are being told to bait us, it can become tiresome.

But I have said my bit on that to try and put it in perspective, and 'if' I post on this thread again now will keep it on the topic of the ex housemates.
