Do you get depressed at Christmas?

It seems Christmas brings out a lot of emotion in people. The joke "we'll be arguing by 12" usually rings true. It's a shame people buy into it all really and let the day get them down, it's stupid that society makes a day where everyone is meant to be happy and your troubles go away. I'm glad I don't buy into it or anything, it's just another day.

For once I actually prefer the religion take on Christmas. The Nativity is a nice heart warming story (apart from the first ). Not all this Happy clappy in your face Xmas bollocks. So remember, it's just a day that was invented, don't let it get you down :nono:

For Children yes.

But Not Adults

MTVN 23-12-2010 11:27 AM

Christmas shopping depresses me and Christmas can get a bit tiresome at times. I dont think I'll celebrate it much when I'm older

Well I'm 20 and I love Christmas :p And my parents are 50 and they do too. You can't generalise ALL adults.

Its is Crazy.

I managed to get some Levi Roots meals this morning

Jamietwo 23-12-2010 11:35 AM

it's been a weird one for me this year, because all my mates got me loads of gifts on my birthdays (i have two...long story) i felt obliged to make them all christmas stockings and i enjoyed it. then i saw these little 3ft xmas trees in asda for 75 p and got one and put lights on it and it looks really pretty, but it brought back memories of when i was little and mum was alive and i got really upset and cried a lot, but i'm sort of ok now. i've been thinking of other people more than normal, my mum was like that. and i'm cooking and taking in a stray friend of a friend, so it's ok . feel a bit 'oh god another year ahead though'

This, exactly.

I detest winter but the excitement and buid up to xmas makes it bearable. I dread January and February though, now that's what I call depressing! The longest, darkest, coldest dreariest months. I almost feel like crying with relief when I see the first signs of Spring!!

So no, xmas does not depress me, I love it in fact, but for some reason I always get emotional at New Year.. don't know why

Christmas is supposed to be a 'happy' time, so when its not, yeah, it does get you down.

At the same time to pretend its just 'another day' is very negative and you should try and enjoy yourself a bit more. Its 1 day out of 365 days every year, lighten up!

Stephanie 23-12-2010 01:23 PM

yup.

Stacey. 23-12-2010 01:26 PM

Christmas is the one time the family never argue

Miss Ivy Balls 23-12-2010 03:24 PM

Some people can't help, but be depressed at Christmas.

For a lot of people Christmas won't be happy for many of reasons.

Yeah, acting like an idiot.

Stop pushing your atheist views down peoples throats.

People who are depressed on Christmas need their head checked. Its the best time of the year. And i do buy into it. Why not? Better being happy and getting carried away than being depressed and all sad.

Fully agree. I doubt many people think like that. It seems like a very sad mentality.

I'll get the good shag too, don't worry

Who does Xmas cards anyway? That is so old. When I was living in England a few years ago, the whole English family I was staying with made me cards and I was like "WTF are you serious?". They actually expected some cards from my family too and I told them we don't do that in France, neither in Russia or Italy.

I can see where you're coming from about Christmas, I've got the feeling people forget what it is all about sometimes so it makes it quite pointless. But then again, to some people, it's a nice way of seeing the whole family and being in peace for once. You don't enjoy it as much as you used to when you're grown up anyway: you just want to eat and drink.

I got a tad bit upset over the snow and the thought of all my family not being able to get together for Xmas day! But it's started to melt now, and I'm home for Xmas so it's looking better!

This discussion depresses me.
Can't believe there are people who get depressed by chrismtas. I'm 18 and I love it, my 15 year old sister loves it, my 48 yea old dad loves it and my 80 year old grandad loves it.
It's not "cool" to dislike christmas. It's just quite sad. :/
Everyone can be together and not argue.

Why do people always use the "it's not cool" line; it's not cool to smoke, it's not cool to do drugs etc. now it's not cool to dislike Christmas? Nobody said it was cool! Why on Earth would anyone think they were being cool by disliking Christmas, they wouldnt and noone has said so.
