Davina McCall blog on future Big Brother - she won't present it

Davina says on her blog that she isn't going to present Big Brother again. But seems to be sure that it is continuing on a new channel[?].

SOMETHING NICE FOR A BETTER LIFE • 09/02/2011

This is a big one for me!!!

It’s been a HUGE week of me taking what may seem small steps to others but to me they feel HUGE!!!

Firstly I need to tell you something...

This is very hard for me to say. I am sure that this will not be a surprise for many of you, but if it is and you are sad...I’m sorry.

I truly believe that Big Brother has legs. It is an AMAZING program that I have LOVED and dedicated a huge and brilliant part of my life to. I think any channel that took it on would be very lucky indeed....its followers are a dedicated bunch!!

But I made a decision after the end of the last series that I would not present it again. There are many reasons for this; I spent a year saying goodbye, which was very painful and scary! Big Brother had been my rock, day job and security blanket - what would I be without it? But I had to have faith that something would happen.

It did....and it’s been brilliant! I have had such a brilliant year, four new shows that I'm LOVING doing and saying goodbye to BB with a BANG!!! That is why it would feel like a step back to go back...someone new should present it on a new channel. A fresh start for the show...with me still as its biggest fan looking forward - exciting!

So then... my passion project... Nice-for a better life.
The rest of it is about her new Facebook page, Nice - for a better life.

Totally agree, i think if she was asked to do it, i think she would have a change of heart & say yes.

Yeah we really ought to drive home that message that Big Brother is the home of camp wash ups.

Channel 5 are presenting their new line up of shows on Monday 14th, aren't they? If any deal has come through then I wouldn't expect us to hear anything until then anyway.

james130 09-02-2011 06:17 PM

Wont be the same without her. :/

I love Davina and while I wouldn't mind seeing her back, it's the right move for her career.

ANY ex-Big Brother housemate hosting a revived version would be a recipe for disaster - it needs to be an experienced presenter that is a genuine fan of the show.

RE. the announcements, Channel 5's on-screen rebrand takes place on Monday and, as has been mentioned, it is expected that they'll announce new programming to coincide with this. Assuming a deal has been done, there wouldn't be a better time to announce it.

OH MY GOD.

Really?

Monday 14th - Judgement Day.

I bet it'll be some time around Lunch Time.

You'll be biting into a bacon sandwhich around 1 O'Clock and see a thread on TiBB saying something like 'C5's LineUp!' or 'BB Isn't Coming Back!'.

Channel 5 aren't going to build it up.

Some of the ex-housemates are experienced presenters.

Yeah okay, I forgot that a select few have quite a bit of experience. (Aaah the good old days of SMTV )

But I stand by my opinion - hopefully they won't let ex-housemates anywhere near. New Big Brother needs to distance itself from the old one as much as possible.

BB IS ALIVE 09-02-2011 08:49 PM

Caroline flack, Meh. Would prefer Emma Willis, she really understands personalities and would be a great replacement for davina, I just hope c5 give bb a good timeslot and dont mess it around like c4 did. Loved davina, though emma or brian dowling would be cool! :)

They could have both, one as presenter of the main show and one on BBLB or whatever spin off show they have:dance:

davidrox2010 10-02-2011 09:11 AM

I'm actually really sad to have to say this but yes davina is right she hosted it for 11 years but i do partly blame channel 4 as it was quite obvious channel 5 would do something with it.

Davina knows BB and I trust that without her we will be able to have a BB with the same format but with a fresh face.

Kate, Brian and Alison Hammond? An ex housemate taking over Davina's place won't be good enough! Will be a bit of a joke even if it someone who has forged out a successful presenting career. I don't Brian or whoever presenting BBLB. But meh.. now thinking about it.. even that it should be done by a presenter who has not been a BB housemate....

I would like ex housemates to go on BBLB and BBBM to air the views though! But that's it.

I think Brian would be good for BBLB & Emma for the main show, if Davina not doing it.
