Vegetarians (and canivores) - A Question. Well, a couple...

If you had people over to your house who eat meat would you be happy to serve/offer it? Or would you expect your guests to stick to vegetarian products?

Meat eaters - Would you expect to be offered meat/meat products?

Smithy 23-03-2011 08:20 PM

My mates a veggie, and when I went to his house we had quorn (sp?) tasted the same, I wasn't that fussed tbh

Stu 23-03-2011 08:20 PM

Surely they would be a pretty stupid vegetarian. Wont eat a dead animal but no problem buying and cooking it for others?

Sounds kinda lame.

LemonJam 23-03-2011 08:21 PM

I usually cook quorn for them. If they want to have meat they can bring it and cook it (mainly because I have no idea how)

Seen it done. Hence my asking

Also things like Muslims offering alcohol or even working in resturants that serve it yet is it not forbidden to even have it in their house?

Niall 23-03-2011 08:26 PM

I really wanna try quorn. :o

Kerry 23-03-2011 08:27 PM

I couldn't be veggie. I have gravy on just about everything

ILoveTRW 23-03-2011 08:30 PM

there are people who are actually vegetarians?
I thought it was just the stage 10 year old girls go through.

Niamh. 23-03-2011 08:31 PM

I wouldn't expect a vegetarian to cook me meat, I'd be quite happy eating vegetarian dishes, I like meat but I like vegetarian food as well

They have vegetarian gravy. ;)

I have a few mates who are vegetarians/vegans and I'm happy to eat what they serve me. Some of it actually suprises me as I end up loving it. :)

*Thinks foot in mouth must be carnivorous*

Tom. 23-03-2011 09:06 PM

Depends what they're making

Princess 23-03-2011 09:59 PM

No I wouldn't cook meat for other people. In my group of friends half of us are vegetarians so if any of us make dinner,no one even bothers making a meat option anymore. They're not bothered so it's not a problem.

Shaun 23-03-2011 10:13 PM

I wouldn't expect a vegetarian to cook me meat. You'd have to be a bit of a dick to demand it.

No I wouldn't.

April1988 24-03-2011 09:28 AM

As a vegetarian i wouldnt like to cook meat or even buy meat as it would be going against my beliefs. If there you friends who are coming to dinner they would surely understand this and not expect to be served meat. Vegetarian food is very tasty anyway!!

Lee. 24-03-2011 09:33 AM

I'm pretty much an omnivore, but I wouldn't expect a vegetarian to cook me meat. I'd be quite happy tucking nto whatever they made. :)

Chuck 24-03-2011 10:38 AM

I would never cook meat to anyone.

Livia 24-03-2011 10:40 AM

I eat meat. I wouldn't expect a vegetarian to offer me meat if I visited them.

Enid 24-03-2011 04:15 PM

What Livia said. Also, if it was the other way round, I'd prepare a veggie meal anyway. It's not like us carnivores need to eat meat with everything.

Angus 24-03-2011 05:11 PM

I love meat, but I also love vegetarian dishes, (not crap like tofu and quorn). I don't see the point of meat substitutes, they usually taste disgusting. Either eat proper meat or just eat vegetables.

I couldn't live without Quorn, honestly. A lot of it is delicious. Although I don't even remember what meat tastes like,so not like I can compare.

Zippy 24-03-2011 05:26 PM

No. Not every meal has to include meat and I wouldn't expect them to buy or cook meat just to please me.

I would assume buying meat kinda goes against their principals.

Beso 24-03-2011 06:32 PM

I would politely refuse the invitation and buy myself half a cow.

joeysteele 24-03-2011 06:40 PM

I'd like to be vegetarian and am most of the time but if with friends or Family and we go out or stay in then I will eat meat meals.
