What accent do you dislike the most in the world?

KG. 28-03-2011 11:00 PM

The Northern Irish accent drives me mad.

MTVN 28-03-2011 11:04 PM

Not a big fan of the Welsh one, or a really Southern American accent

Just the Scottish in general??

That's like somebody saying they dislike the English accent! Look at how many regional variations there are!

You can't compare the likes of an Edinburgh accent with an Aberdonian one.. And I'm really sorry if there is any shee.. Aberdonians here, but to me they ARE one of the worst!

Locke. 29-03-2011 12:23 AM

Scottish and Irish all sound the same :nono:

What?? Are you taking the piss?

We sound nothing alike! The only similarity is we both sound great!

Locke. 29-03-2011 12:30 AM

No I don't mean both accent's sound the same as one another, I mean can't tell the difference between different Scottish accents and different Irish accents.. they all sound the same

Ah right.. sorry :)

http://www.ayecan.com/what_is_scots.html

Click on the different accents on the wee map on the right.. You must hear a difference between the one up the very top of the mainland and say, Edinburgh. Do you not even hear a difference between Glasgow and Edinburgh??

Locke. 29-03-2011 12:39 AM

The Caithness one sounds like a right mong.

All of the ones near the bottom sound the same but you can tell the difference between them and the ones near the top

King Gizzard 29-03-2011 03:44 AM

Brummie accent. And don't kill me but I'm not a fond admirer of Yorkshire/Manc accents. Do like Liverpudlian and Geordie though.

Irish accents sound very different, there's a huge difference for example between the Cork, Dublin and Belfast accents

Niamh. 29-03-2011 10:11 AM

em South African I'm not too keen on

ILoveTRW 29-03-2011 10:14 AM

South African, its just weird

Crimson Dynamo 29-03-2011 10:23 AM

any london related one that says free instead of three is disgusting to the ear, mix in with that the ones who who speak like a west indian and it is brutal

Lee. 29-03-2011 11:14 AM

Seeing as everybody else has said it, I'll admit that I too find the Brummie accent one of the worst.

Pyramid* 29-03-2011 12:02 PM

Got to be South African - something about it just grates.

Oh...and anyone who says, "Oh... you're Scotch"- usually from over the pond.

Yeah...I look like a fecking bottle of whisky don't I.

or a fecking egg?!

Winds me up too!

My (English) OH refers to me as "Scotch" often!

James 29-03-2011 04:49 PM

Hmm, surprised Essex, mockney or Estuary English hasn't been mentioned yet. Bit grating but it really depends, I think, on what you say rather than how you say it. An articulate Essex voice is fine.

I am from Ayrshire and on the rare occasions that I have heard a recording of my voice I can't believe how Scottish I sound. :S

If you can't tell the difference between Ireland's many manky accents then you ought to go to the doctors for a check up I reckon.
