Big brother just wouldnt be the same without Davina :/

its true, it just wouldnt be the same, no one could ever be as good as her, she was the show and i hate to admit it but i just dont think it could survive without her :/ she is big brother and no one could ever replace her :(

plus chantelle houghton is pregnant :P

Gillian-73 13-04-2011 08:03 PM

I disagree completely. davina didn't make the show she was a small part of it. she wasn't even a good interviewer who got even worse over the last 2 or 3 series. she was immature and biased! i say a new face is a good thing :elephant: if they get the right housemates they'll get a good show!

Doogle 13-04-2011 08:07 PM

I love Davina, but to be honest this won't be the exact same show anyway. Sure, it's the same name, hopefully will have the same theme tune and all that, but I think it's time to move on with the host.

And as stated above she was very biased. That was funny though. :joker:

I honestly think there are better presenters, but I think she'll always remain the most entertaining.

Jordan. 13-04-2011 08:10 PM

I think she can be replaced in terms of presenting. It'll just be odd because we're all used to it just being Davina doing it.

Loling at "Plus Chantelle Houghton is pregnant"....

How does that have any relivence to this thread?

Mac Hiavellian 13-04-2011 08:12 PM

You can hire someone else (better or worse) but you can never replace her.

Emma Willis is the next best thing. Join the petition ;)

She was just a part of the show. Personally I think Marcus Bentleys voice is more iconic than Davina when it comes to BB

oh me too!

I think a new presenter will be a good thing for the show, preferably male and preferably Brian Dowling:D

Lol, post your petition too. We'll see if either of them get the job in the end :D

joeysteele 13-04-2011 08:20 PM

She can be replaced, the last 3 series she was nowhere near the force she was at the beginning, her observations had become stale as to the really interesting parts of the series and her eviction interviews became very weak and more like an old pals act, hence very boring.

Clearly not the same thing but everyone said Carol Vorderman going would be the end of Countdown, nothing was further from the truth, I wouldn't swap Rachel Riley ever now for Carol Vorderman on there and BB can if it chooses the right 'new' Presenter move on with success too.
Anyway Davina doesn't want it, she has said she wouldn't do it on Channel 5.

I don't really mind Emma but for one thing she's too similar to Davina and I don't think she coped very well that time she replaced Davina either

james130 13-04-2011 08:24 PM

I am going to find it hard to like as much without Davina as I think she was one of the best parts of the show.
I remember the reports that she was diciplined after CBB5 because of her harsh interview on Jade and ever since seemed to lose her spark.
But lets face it, Big Brother was never the same after the CBB5 uproar.

I think they'll find it hard to find a more enthusiastic presenter and she stuck up for it even in the bad times. A lot of established presenters will want to steer well clear of the show because of all of the negative press that comes with it.

That's why I keep reposting the Emma Willis one. Must try harder, Dear ;)

I'm warming to the idea on that other thread that Brian and Emma should work together as a double act. I gather Zezi wasn't popular and some people had issues with George but I think it put less pressure on them to fill Dermot's shoes having 2 presenters doing the job, rather than leave it to 1 person. The guest hosts on BBBM replacing Russel was just a no no though :nono:

And people complained Davina was too soft on the evictees! She just couldn't win :(

Exactly!

I think if Channel 5 get it right and give the presenter and housemates more freedom instead of worrying about the regulators then it could be great.

Channel 4 really clamped down after Shetty-gate. :(

well, I would rather have both Emma and Brian then no Brian at all:joker: But like I said I don't dislike Emma, I just like Brian more!

yeah, that was the beginning of the end really, it should have been handled a lot differently imo

Her problem was, she was blatantly biased.

She let her own opinions of the HMs get in the way of her presenting.

Some got away with soft interviews, and others got really harsh ones. Rachel rice and makosi? Did they deserve the crap they got? And then Lisa from BB10 for example, nothing was mentioned about her warnings or anything.

Nah, she got too involved.

Definately.
That's where I hope Channel 5 are gonna do better!

That's what made her great IMO.
She was as much of a fan of the show as us and had her own opinions and felt passionately about some housemates and not others.

Besides, they gave the audience chance to ring and ask questions on BB11 and that was rubbish I thought.

they should have nipped it in the bud before it got so out of control and made less of a spectacle of it I think

I never understood why they didn't just eject the three of them. :/

This is all was needed for Emily in BB8 too. There's lots of reasons why BB started to dwindle and a great deal of it was post CBB5 :(

But yes, Davina was very biased, I didn't like her Rachel/Makosi interviews and neither did I like her Grace/Nikki ones either. I admired that she was a huge fan of the show and was very enthusiastic and supportive of it but she should have kept her opinions of the HMs for the Big Mouth show or whenever she was interviewed on BBLB

well, the whole Emily thing was crazy imo, alright it was a bad choice of words to use but she didn't say it in an offensive way. They should have warned her not to use the word in the house again, that would have been more than enough. But it was quite obviously a reaction to the whole shilpa incident which was stupid.

It can, but I am really going to miss her.

IS CHANTELLE PREGNANT?!  I love her :spin:

Stacey. 13-04-2011 08:56 PM

I'll miss Davina, but it depends who takes over.

BB_Eye 13-04-2011 09:35 PM

Before the Grace debacle I would have said 'no'. Now I couldn't care less about her. At one time I seem to remember her bringing some degree of professionalism to Big Brother as a presenter (and before BB6, even as an interviewer too), but there can be no doubt her abilities have been well and truly washed out. Tellingly, as Davina has lurched further and further into middle age, her awkward attempts at self-deprecating slapstick have become increasingly unfunny, theatrical and juvenile.

The only good thing she still had in the last series was enthusiasm for the show. She had more love for Big Brother in her little finger than George Lamb ever had in his insignificant, untalented existence. She didn't even mind leaving herself open to ridicule on other TV shows for singing Big Brother's praises in the weeks running up to BB11. She probably still loved the show more than its purported fans on this forum (including me)... maybe too much.

Yeah, Davina was an essential part of the early series with her 30-something elegant enthusasm but her forty-something facile gurning approach to the later series served only to annoy rather than entertain .....

OTOH, Marcus' voice is, Vicky pointed out, truly iconic .....

Marsh. 13-04-2011 10:21 PM

What's all this "Davina was too harsh" "Davina was too soft".
Disciplined after CBB5? She followed scripts laid out by the producers.
