Modern Warfare 3

Activision's next Modern Warfare title is gradually taking shape, spurred by investor call revelations yesterday and a slew of new rumours.

According to Kotaku, Modern Warfare 3 will feature large, destructible urban environments - comparable, the site suggests, to those of the Battlefield series - and begin directly after the climax of Modern Warfare 2, focussing on the build-up to a World War III scenario.

You can apparently expect the game in November - the same date as Eurogamer's enigmatic Call of Duty: Project Collossus", which came to light yesterday via an internal Tesco catalogue listing.

Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games are rumoured to be lending Infinity Ward a hand with the new CoD.

Last night, Activision executives suggested that the Call of Duty digital platform in development at Beachhead was "integral" to forthcoming games in the series, but reiterated that Activision would never charge extra for online modes.

Look forward to more details in the next couple of weeks.

Unless it looks/is awesome, I think I've given up on CoD really. http://www.spillitnow.com/images/smiles/morning.gif

Black Ops is a really good game on paper, but the online is kinda putrid for no real reason? Idk I think it was the maps and the new killstreaks they added.

MW2 omfg don't even get me started on that horrible game. Whenever you went into an online match you always had loads of people noob tubing or quickscoping or camping. I hated it. I used to rage at that game so much even though I used to rape people easily on there a fair bit. :bored:

Scarlett. 10-05-2011 09:13 PM

I liked MW2, it's online was good fun, Black Ops on a whole was boring

Doogle 10-05-2011 09:21 PM

I suck at shooting games, but online on Black Ops was more fun and easier for a beginner in my opinion.

Do they lmao? :joker:

I can't wait to see that London level though. Most games/films don't bother having London as a location for it. It'll be so cool to see it all hehe. I'm so excited.

Yep

I agree, its refreshing to see the UK getting some attention in games

I hope Soap and Price will be back

Niall 14-05-2011 12:35 PM

That looks really good!

And I think they will be back, they're both like fixtures in the MW world now.

Scarlett. 14-05-2011 12:37 PM

Indeed, I bet we'll start off playing someone else xD I hear we will be playing as a Russian

Niall 14-05-2011 12:40 PM

I hope its not another snow level we start out in. http://i.imgur.com/Iu8a5.png Well if it is, I want it to be a bit different than the ones featured in the past two games. They can be a little bit dull lmao.

Scarlett. 14-05-2011 12:42 PM

I reckon we'll start in New York, maybe with Price or Soap narrating

Patrick 14-05-2011 12:45 PM

Most Over Rated & Silly Game of all time. :bored:

You can't say it isn't really, really over rated though?

I just think people should give other games a chance rather than just using their Xboxs to go on COD Online every day.

I actually like the game more for its storyline lol, the multiplayer is overrated for sure :P Battlefield is a better online shooter IMO

GTA is far from over rated LOL.

It's hyped alot when it comes out obviously - but in terms of being talked about and stuff and being everywhere, it's barely noticeable.

Which is upsetting :( :joker:

It kinda is though. I remember when GTA 4 came out, all my friends had been going mad about it for weeks before, just like how everyone goes mad for CoD every year.

In fairness though, I've never played GTA properly so I can't judge the gameplay of it. But it does get a lot of talk I can assure you.

Doogle 14-05-2011 01:04 PM

GTA is, in my opinion, more fun than MW2 and Black Ops, but I think this one could be better. :joker:

Tom4784 14-05-2011 01:07 PM

My brother will get it undoubtedly, I'm no fan of the COD games though, I usually only play through the campaigns as I DETEST the online multiplayer games.

An ultra-violent computer game which features explosions and scenes of destruction on the London Tube and at the Houses of Parliament is to be released later this year.

Supporters of those affected by the 7/7 suicide attacks in July 2005, which killed 52 people, called for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to be banned.

The game's trailer, which is described as 'inappropriate' for children, depicts military helicopters, rocket launchers and black-op style soldiers in balaclavas.

Call Of Duty 3 has not yet received an age certification and shows soldiers running through the streets of London with machine guns while bombs explode and buildings tumble to the ground.

Big Ben is clearly visible as are police cars and a London bus amid the violent scenes.

In one particularly vivid shot, an armed soldier on a truck cuts in front of a Tube carriage, derailing and causing it to explode.

Other scenes show aerial attacks on New York and grenades exploding on the streets of Paris and Berlin.

The game, which can be pre-ordered for £45 and will be officially released on November 8, has a voiceover saying: 'It doesn't take the most powerful nations on earth to create the next global conflict, just the will of a single man.'

Vivienne Pattison, spokesman for campaign group Mediawatch UK, said: ‘I have concerns as these games are hyper-real and take place in a landscape we are familiar with. In light of the fact we have just had the 7/7 inquests, it is in incredibly poor taste.'

One reviewer at gaming website kotaku.com described the latest instalment in the Call Of Duty series: 'Players take on the role of an SAS operative who is tasked with stopping a delivery of weapons of mass destruction at a London dockyard.

'A gun battle ensues, and the agents are chased through the London subway. The mission culminates with a series of unmarked trucks exploding in front of the House of Parliament, releasing a deadly chemical agent.'

Activision, who make the game, said: 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a fictional action game aimed at mature adults and set in World War Three. The scenes in the game are entirely fictional and are not intended to recreate any historical events.'
