this happened in Tenerife. Apparently a witness saw the suspect running down the street holding her head by its hair! A Bulgarian homeless man is being questioned.

just wow! I'd faint if I saw that happen.

A British woman has been stabbed and decapitated in Tenerife, according to reports.

The woman was reportedly attacked in a supermarket in the town of Los Cristianos on the island.

A Bulgarian man, believed to be homeless, has been detained by Spanish police.

Spanish media reported that witnesses saw the man enter a Chinese supermarket at the Valdes Shopping Centre and, without saying a word, attacked the woman with a knife, cutting her head off.

A regional government spokeswoman said the killer is understood to have obtained a knife from inside the store to launch his attack.

Colin Kirby, of tenerifemagazine.com witnessed the event. He told Sky News: "It was all a bit surreal I was heading past the commercial centre and saw a group of people by the entrance and a medical guy going in form the health centre.

"I assumed someone had fainted, walked on, and then I could hear screaming and shouting.

"I glanced behind me and a guy was ambling down the street holding what I assumed to be a joke head, by the hair."

He said security guards gave chase to him, eventually managing to bring him down and restrain him.

"The guy did not seem completely right to me, he was a bit dishevelled, not particularly smart and as he was walking with the head he was muttering.

"It was a bizarre scene."

Manuel Reveron, a local a councillor for citizen security said: "Apparently this gentleman without any motive or any reason, although for this there is no reasoning, entered the shop and then cut this woman's neck and took the head in his hand outside up to the sidewalk.

"Then the security guard was able to throw him on the ground and we covered the macabre (site)."

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware of reports of the death of a British national in Tenerife and are urgently investigating."

I really felt physically sick when this came on the News. Awful.

I didnt even know you could just cut somebodies head like that. Just with a knife? They must sell some pretty good knives.

It makes me feel sick to think of that happening in the middle of a supermarket. Must have took something to do that with just a knife.

Haven't read much more than few bits n pieces about this: awful beyond belief. What did he use? Decapitating someone in one fell swoop isn't the most easiest of things (I'm thinking back to days in Saudi in the 70's when public beheadings etc were taking place).

What on earth did this psycho use? Was it one clear blow? That poor woman and her family - words aren't enough.

Poor souls that witnessed it, especially any young children. Holidays are meant to be enjoyed and relaxed - what a horrendous thing to see.

Was it necessary for The Sun to advertise the free lego toy THAT big.....

Oh that's handy eh. :shocked: It does beg the question why such inherrently evil people with history of violence are kept alive when clearly they will never be able to be safely controlled unless placed in secure psych units - and not given an injection to end it. But hey, that's a whole different thread altogether.

Yep. Clearly this man will never be 'rehabilitated' - and at massive cost to the country in which they live and are held in secure units. As I say though, that's a whole different thread...... would be an interesting and I imagine, a heated thread mind you!!

This is the one of the most horrible things I have heard of,total madness. Just so gruesome and really sick.

Clearly this man is completely deranged and must be hospitalised for the rest of his life.

Even though I have no young children myself I think describing details of this horrific murder and its aftermath on the 6.00 o'clock news isn't acceptable. It was enough to know that the poor lady had been murdered.
