I know :bawling: Ah well lol

Tom4784 17-05-2011 04:05 PM

No, but then I'm quite shrewd with my money and I don't have any responsibilities so it's not hard to avoid it. I try to avoid using credit and stuff like that if I can though, I don't like being tied to things.

Lend us a tenner Arista we'll go halves on a crate :amazed:

Kerry 17-05-2011 08:07 PM

Just ring them up Joe. They'll split the debt into monthly payments and spread it along the year for you. Been there myself plenty of times

GypsyGoth 17-05-2011 08:09 PM

Nope I've never been in debt. I don't get things I can't afford.

Vicky. 17-05-2011 08:10 PM

I'm being chased by about 10 bailiff companies for different debts from when I was younger.

I'll pay them eventually, but cant really afford to at the minute.

When living in your own place you have no choice but to pay for things you often can't afford. Rent, gas, electric, council tax, phonebill, internet, groceries etc etc etc

Lloyds bank offered me a £1000 overdraft on my 18th birthday.

Obviously I took it.

WTF were they thinking though, they knew I barely made any money then as I used my bank for my wages

Lloyds are ridiculous for things like that though, they let my 16 year old(at the time) sister use an unarranged overdraft. Obviously the majority of 16 year olds would just see it as free money, to be fair on her though she only spent about £100 but it could have been more. And then they hounded her for it. Sharp shut up though when my mother went in and told them how illegal it was to give her credit at that age...

Yup. Very very easy to get into debt when you run a house

All it takes is for one thing to go wrong, for example, a washer breaking. Clearly you have to buy a new one, and end up in debt on other things.

Natwest are just as bad. When I was 16/18 I worked part time for £65 a week. They gave me a grand overdraft

Natwest charged me around £300 in bank charges because I accidently went £3.43 overdrawn. Yup...

Needless to say, after trying to sort it out with them and them insisting I would pay it...one of the bailiffs who are looking for me is collecting that for them. That is one I am NOT paying.

Yep, done that to me too. I closed the account

Judas 17-05-2011 08:22 PM

£7000 so far.... although that is my Student Loan. I'm paying for my next year on quickquid.com though so I'm hoping it wont be to much interest saving me money in the long run xoxo

They told me I couldnt close the account until I paid the £300. I snapped my card and threw it on the floor in the bank and flounced out...like a real badass :p

I do too. They passed it on to debt collection places now though.

I want them to take me to court tbh. And Im hoping the courts would see how pathetic natwest are being on their end. I offered to repay the 3 quid odd..plus pay ONE set of charges, which was about £28 IIRC...but they wouldnt even take that :bored:

Have you seen the website money expert? It's fantastic for fighting banks/bailiffs etc. Nationaldebtline too. My mate sent me a pack about rights and stuff and it's so surprising what they actually can't do. For instance, a bailiff CANNOT enter your house unless invited and they can NEVER take goods unless it's been to court and you default on court payments. Bailffs can only take actual action after court

Thats new to me. I quite recently had to pay about £600 for a BT bill that had been passed onto the bailiffs(which...again, the original bill was 80 quid til they added loadsda **** on that I hadnt asked for and said I had made about a hundred quids worth of calls, but wouldnt send me an itemised bill until AFTER I paid, which sounded dodgy to me...along with the fact that we had had nothing but problems with them anyways, we just switched to another company in the end)

Because gav asked him inside without knowing who he was () and he wrote down loads of my stuff, that would actually have come to about 5 grand or so, not £600 and said if I didnt pay then he was coming back for it :bored:

Will check out those sites, definitely

Vicky. 17-05-2011 08:44 PM

For the record

If it's just council tax he just needs to ring them. They'll split the debt over the year is all. I've owed them well over that before

InOne 17-05-2011 09:28 PM

I have it sorted Kerry and Ian, £10 a week. But they send letters like "YOU WILL LOVE YOUR HOME"

And it's like D:

If it's sorted don't worry. Or just ring them again and ask why you're still getting letters. They always use scare tactics. They're just standard letters though. You'd get the same if you owed them a quid
