OMG NOOOOOOO!!! Ages ago when it was rumoured/suggested Channel 5 might pick up BB I had a dream/nightmare the house actually looked like that and was merely filled with glamour models and Jontys so the HMS had no connections and the house looked ******ing cheap and nasty.

ANYWAY, ...I'm looking forward to see this year's house tbh. I reckon a hot tub or indoor pool can still generate late night talks, intimacy, fun etc. Still don't get why CBB6 and 7 didn't have a pool. I'd also welcome back the sauna from CBB3 and 4.

They don't need to focus on a theme, it always turns out tacky.

BB10 is prove a crap house doesn't effect the entertainment of the HM's.

More than anything else I just want it to look like a typical Big Brother house. Mirrors, bright plastic things, and claustrophobic fixtures. I couldn't care less about the gimmicky attatchments.

They hardly go in the pool, i'd rather see them all drunk & naked in the hot tub at night.

Hot tubs are boring for BB, pools have more uses, make sure its heated theyll be in.

I don't know why everyone is obsessed with pools, all you can do is swim in them.

get a proper 12 person hot tub keep it on 24/7 and then a drunken orgy is bound to happen.

Yeah the BB7 Pool I think was heated constantly and they were always in that :love:

They make for good games and stuff in BB and the housemates ALWAYS throw eachother into them.

I can't think of a pool year when that didn't happen.

They should have a big pool and then a hot tub on the edge of it. :love:

Every series has had a theme though. It's just the later ones (most of Patrick Watson's) that turn out to be tacky

People need to face it theres never gonna be an orgy/visible sex on BB.

With some of them the best have been the ones based on an emotion/feeling, rather than a visual theme. Like BB5 was made to be claustrophobic, yet the house furniture didn't exactly look claustrophobic it was just standard BB style.

What I hate is when they have a theme like hell and decide to match every down to just that theme, like they can't buy a pillow case unless it has 'go die' written on it.

Again, that's Patrick Watson's doing. Colin Piggot and Marcus Blee got it right and made presentable houses the viewers could relate to and perhaps want to live in themselves. Watson's houses used the tacky and gimmicky themes or absurd features such as the outdoor showers in BB6 or the everything in the wrong place theme of BB8. Ok he gets that the house is another character itself and most of the time he's made it presentable and 'interesting' to say the least but of the 3, he's the one who's gone overboard with the themes. But the fact remains every series has had a theme though.

I swear if you look at the houses like BB7 with more than one theme - they kind of tie in with eachother.

But BB11's is a joke :laugh: It's literally as if they started of building the house as a heaven theme.

Got to the Bathroom and remembered they would have UBB so decided to paint little Big Brother pictures on the wallpaper - then forgot all about that and decided it'd be a great idea to have a carnival theme so the Daily Star may use the headline 'It's a Carnival of a Series!'.

The producers didn't have a clue what was happening.

Patrick Watson has done a good job though, I loved the BB2, BB3, BB4 and BB5 Houses as they were probably 'wild' back in the day, but I mean I think Tacky is good in some sense just as long as it isn't too out there and is kind still amazing.

I mean the BB9 House was the best house we've ever had - ever.

And that was pretty tacky, but still ******ing outstandingly amazing.

I wouldn't say the earlier houses were wild even in their day but I do remember a bunch of my mates were saying around 2002 that they'd love to live in the BB2 or 3 houses just cos of the space and the decor. And I remember everyone at school was talking about how lush the BB4 house pics were before launch. The earlier houses were just stylish and practical.

I think pretty much every aspect of BB UK became tacky though. The Eaton logos changed from symetrical patterns to standard images (some better than others), the HMs went from relatable people (even if they did want a bit of fame) to blatant attention seekers and freaks, and the houses went from those realistic yet nice ones to having outdoor showers, a bath tub in the living room and a talking evil chest of drawers. You can see how the show really did drift away from reality television to just absurd hyper-realism. I do have to agree that I prefer the 'tacky' tasks, mind. Because ever since BB4 I think the producers had to make sure something would guarantee entertainment just in case the HMs did become boring again so I absolutely loved the BB5, 6, 9 and 11 tasks.

I have to agree with you about the BB9 garden and as gimmicky as it was it remains my favourite smokign area with the ash tray lol. The BB8 bench was standard, the BB10 bus stop was random and the BB11 carousel was bizarre but at least you can relate the ash tray to smoking lol. I did really like the BB9 house a lot (except maybe the sitting area sofas) but compare how divided the house was to the BB3 house. The heaven/hell divide was blatantly obvious and while I appreciate it tried to 'up the ante' and be better than BB3's I think the luxury bedroom and bathroom could have toned down with the decor becaus eit became tacky luxury rather than the type of bedroom you might actualy want which is what the BB 1-4 houses did. You know I love BB9 but it was another example of hyper-realism because of how the house was decorated.

I agree the BB11 house had a lot going on and I really did like the BB11 house too. I think again it counteracts with CBB7 because CBB7 was mostly a hell theme but with circus elements such as the waltzer diary room chair and the clowns in the bedroom whereas the BB11 house was more so about the circus theme rather than heaven. I liked the homages to older BBs with the pictures in the bathroom and the nest being like the den in BB2, snug in BB5 and loft in BB6 because for too long we had seating areas and bitching areas in the open which somehow developed in to the smoking areas.

I think Patrick Watson does go overboard and it's great he has so many ideas and mixes themes together, and while I agree that Sharon Powers was right that a BB house has to be bold and colourful to attract attention it needs to become relatable again. The show could benefit with a bright and colourful house that viewers would actually want.

Who cares what the house looks like if theres no live feed then theres no BB

cant be arsed with live feed anyway its either blocked out so you can hear or them sleeping. i hope it dosnt come back and ch5 use that space to put in actual programmes than a complete waste of space and put the live feed on the net if people really want it that bad
