Sash! Mirror mirror

Im so disapointed with this comeback. Sash! was the king of dance music and hes sold himself out with a rehash of "Ecuador" with some blonde bint singing over it in the style of Lady ****ING Gaga!

So bored of this **** thats in the charts at the moment.

BRING BACK SOME PROPER EUPHORIC ANTHEMS LIKE 1999!!

Anyway thats my thoughts on the song, What do you all think?

Zippy 05-07-2011 09:48 PM

The 90's are over, daniel.

That said, I recently downloaded a huge 4 cd 90s club compilation. And yes, Ecuador was on it.

AJ. 05-07-2011 09:50 PM

That can't be new surely? Has Jean Pearle not just remixed Ecuador?

Nope its the official new Sash! single.

Video has been shot and everything and according to the official site "This track is heading to be his eleventh UK Top 10 hit."

I very much doubt it

I miss the 90s so damn much.

I only vaguely remember Sash tbh so can't really compare but that tune's ok. It's always bizarre when a 90s star attempts a comeback because part of you wishes they'd never gone and part of you wants them to stay in that time when they were amazing.

Anyways, Aqua's 'Back to the 80s' was alright and I'm hoping Sarah Michelle Gellar's new show 'Ringer' will be good.

I think I do remember that song and vid slightly. Slightly nostalgic.

Lol, I'm your new cellmate. Btw I finished Buffy season 7 yesterday and watched the 1992 movie today (I thought it was ok back then but now I like it less).

They would do amazing over here if they bothered to premote the single (Performing once on morning TV is not what I call promo). Back To The 80's, and even more so My Mamma Said would of been hits over here. So would of How R U Doin?

I wish them all the best for the new album, I will be getting it! My most excited about album of the year (Bar Madonna's - She is recording her album now!!!).

I finished watching season 7 back in March and felt depressed after like i lost a group of friends lol.

Im watching the final 2 episodes of "Angel" tonight so will be needing a box of tissues and comfort food to cope.

Daniel you are aware that AQUA are one of the most infulential acts to establish Europop. So in turn Gaga owes them a favour.

Everyone just seems to be mimmicking the riffs and beats of "Just Dance" And "Poker Face" though which is doing my balls in.

After being a fan of Sash! since I was 12 even when all my mates hit puberty and were listening to slipknot i was banging out the Sash! and the Alice Deejay tunes.

I am sorry to say he has failed me with this utter unoriginal piece of cack.

Stu 05-07-2011 10:22 PM

So he has only sold out now? Not back when he released Raindrops which was basically Encore Une Fois with a chav friendly video and vocal?

Atleast Raindrops stayed true to Sash!'s roots.

I agree the video was awful but this is so far away from Sash! style that it has no credibility as it seems he is trying to make a song to fit in with the now and not actually doing what hes good at which is writing and creating some of the best dance/slickest tunes ever.

Well in general I am fed up of this 'modern dance' at the moment. It just sounds awful. I do not know much about Sash but it is a shame that acts all sell out. AQUA have always had a europop sound.

Shaun 05-07-2011 10:39 PM

-was gonna mention Raindrops but it's already been done-

Zippy 05-07-2011 10:42 PM

I loved Tina cousins Mysterious times...and Pray. I forgot MT was him too.

Stu 05-07-2011 10:51 PM

He had some nice bouncy tunes for when you were gurning your jaw off but let's face it it is the worst kind of cheese dance imaginable. At least Scooter have entertaining lyrics.

Erm no.

Sash! songs had great lyrics and great vocalists i suggest you go listen.

The thing i liked about Sash! is that the songs did not allways talk about break ups and all that sh!t everyone else does in pop ("Stay" being the exception but its an amzing song) their songs were original and have stood the test of time.

Scooters songs are catchy but PURE ****ING TRASH.

There is nothing original whatsoever about any of his stuff. It's your basic JP-8000 driven turn of the millennium anthem trance. Four beats per bar, breakdown build up format, rolling snares, supersaw waveform, the lot. About a dozen times a silly times a million other producers were doing the exact same sound at the time.

And are you seriously arguing the lyrical merit of the stuff? Good god man. They might fit well with the tracks but they are autopop lyrics that mean jack shit. Heck he made a name out of penning any old garbage in multiple languages so as to ensure the songs would chart in different countries.

Lyrics don't mean shit in trance.

Stu 05-07-2011 11:11 PM

Scooter aren't really trance. Happy hardcore/jumpstyle maybe.

Sash! were not Trance.

Sash! was commercial dance.

Sash!'s more lyrical songs "Just around the hill", "Mysterious times"....were lyrically well written in my opinion.

And no matter what you think the production of Sash!'s songs are sleek as ****. Hence them standing out from the crowd when they were released and smashing the UK top ten 11 times

Ooh and 3 top ten albums.

Oh and in regards to the lyrics being in different languages to chart in different countries? Im sorry but are we all fluent in French, Spanish, Latin, German in the uk? Where his songs were most succesfull?

Erm...

You are literally one of those people trying to argue that Sash! were not a credible group and were frowned upon by the pill heads in ibiza back in the day for being to mainstream but Sash! never said he was anything but so its a lost argument.

His old stuff was the dogs bollox and 18 million albums worldwide and 65 Gold and Platinum awards prove that

Yes, Sash! are trance. A very mainstream, commercial form of progressive/vocal/euro trance.

What the fuck is dance? Dance is just a blanket term.

I'm not even going to entertain the popularity = good argument but yes they were slick in the production department. But that doesn't make them original by any stretch of the imagination.

I don't need to argue it. Everyone knows Sash! is consiered a cheesy butt of the joke bastard child of the electronic music landscape. Like you said they were looked down on for being too mainstream and they never denied that themselves.

Why would I need to argue it. They can flog all the records they want but their critical evaluation amounts to little more than praise from the sort of people who think putting neon blue lights under Opel Corsas is just a damn neat idea.

Zippy 05-07-2011 11:22 PM

Sash was very much of his time. He, like many artist, had his golden period where he could do no wrong. And he did pick good vocalists. But he failed to evolve and dance music moves on at a very fast rate.

Your coming accross as an argumentative psycho at the moment lol.

Sash! were not and will never will be TRANCE!!! They are mainstream pop/proggresive/dance and yes that is a term

This isnt a competition btw I know my trance from my happy hardcore from my house from my europop so please stop being all high and mighty coz its stupid.

And people like you make me laugh you get all angry over Sash! being commercial but as i fan I want commercial lol thats what i liked about their stuff. It was sleek, commercial and radio friendly.

How does Sash! being commercial anger you that much?

What are you even getting angry about?

How did this argument even start? Did i offend you by likeing Sash!?

Are you ok?

I outlined my thoughts on Sash! being a ditzy act good for bouncing about to when you are gurning your face off on disco biscuits. I then refuted your argument about Sash! having had an original sound. They didn't.

Nowhere did I say being commercial was some evil thing to be frowned upon, nowhere did I say it angered me and nowhere did I claim Sash! encacted some grand conspiracy on us all to hoodwink us into believing they were anything more than a radio friendly cheese act.

This isin't the first time I've seen you beat about and patronise someone else for being supposedly angry what with all the questions and the making the other person out to be crazy. The tragedy is that you're too soft in the head to see the irony of it given what you just posted was the most seething, hysterical wad of period blood the thread has conjured up thus far.

Face it you look down on Sash! as being untalented, unoriginal and to commercial for your liking.

I don't see the problem with stating a fact. Sash! are considered a bit of a joke amongst serious heads. In fact in stating that all I was doing was reinforcing your own point that Sash! were frowned upon by the pill heads in ibiza back in the day for being to mainstream but Sash! never said he was anything but so its a lost argument.

You said I was trying to argue Sash! are considered a mainstream joke. I replied saying there is no need to argue it because I know thay are considered just that.

It couldn't be simpler, could it.

The second quote is me dismissing the lyrics as gibberish. My own personal opinion on the lyrics.

The third quote I've already responded to.
