MILF-a complimentary or disrespectful term?
 

Beastie's thread on women reaching their sexual peak at 45 made me think of this. Do you mind being referred to as a milf or do you think it's a disrespectful term?

I suppose it's a compliment, still makes you feel old though!

If you tell a woman who has had a few kids and has a crap relationship that she is still still very attractive, what harm can it do

I do mind being refereed to as a MILF. It makes me seem predatory.

It's a compliment and it's only ever meant in a good way (yes perverted but good)

It's not about age though because you can be a mother at 16 (or younger).

It's more about the term milf. I totally agree to compliment anyone only makes them feel good but I'm not sure I take it as a compliment, it's very much a male expression, which I personally don't like. If I had a daughter for instance and her mates said I was attractive, wear nice clothes, had a nice figure...etc I would be complimented and feel good but bearing in mind what milf means, I know its just an expression but I think it's very disrespectful.

Not always - sometimes its meant in a wink wink, snigger, sleazy way. I'm not sure that son's, as they get older really appreciate their mother being referred to as a milf.

Well that Dustin Hoffman film has shown us the idea has existed long before the term :tongue:

Why though? At the end of the day it just means they think you're attractive. Their just exspressing it in a very boorish, masculine way.

It's a very natural expression of thought I think. Everyone who meets anyone internally thinks anyway 'how attractive do I find this person?'. It's what we are biologically programmed to do.

What is sleazy? That someone has sexual thoughts about a MILF? That's not sleazy it's perfectly rational behaviour that's been made sleazy by culture for the sake of sanctifying some system of morals or poking fun at a 'sleazy' person.

Yes I totally agree with this. It is natural if you find someone attractive to comment on it, but I personally think that can be done in a more compimentary way by just saying they are attractive. Milf is like saying, yeah I would't mind having a go, the same as if a bloke made a sexual remark about another bloke's gf. It's disrepectful.

Is Salma Hayek a mother, I don't know much about her? but she is a very attractive lady, I guess I havn't explained this very clearly or started this thread very well. It's all very normal to find people attractive, young or old its just the term milf and what it actually stands for. Example: my youngest son works in a very male blokey environment and whenever I've had to go in to his work place for any reason he's had comments made that a young man really does not want to think about his mother in those sort of terms, to the point now that he's said to me please don't come in anymore because it's upsetting. On the other hand, with my friends who have daughters, their friends say things like your mum's pretty or she has a nice figure or whatever and they're really complimented by it and they're daughters are proud of their mums. I don't think my son is proud at all, I think he's just plain embarrassed. I know it's down to the individuals who say it and what they say and how they say it, but all I'm saying is a woman doesn't necessarily take it as a compliment

considering mums are getting younger and younger I see nothing wrong with it. Some people I know use it for any attractive girl, regardless of whether she's a mother or not :laugh:

Not a mother but def in the age bracket - and from a woman's p.o.v - it is a compliment - it basically means that regardless of her age: she is deemed to be attractive, even to a far younger age group.

Anyone who would take offence at it, needs to lighten up (only my opinion so don't go shooting me down in flames!)
