Sleeping With The TV On

Can you/do you fall asleep with the TV playing in the background? I have to fall asleep with BBC3 on (unless BB is on in which case I'd have BB live on) otherwise I can't get to sleep, excluding if someone's sleeping round or if I'm on holiday and there's no TV in my room, in which case I just have to deal with it

CharlieO 27-07-2011 06:14 PM

I'm the same. I love falling asleep to sound. Its either tv shows or audiobooks.

The past 3 weeks I have been falling asleep to bb3

Edit: I always switch the screen off and just have sound coming out speakers.

Sometimes fall asleep with the TV on but never on purpose, it's a waste of electricity.

Not to mention when I'm trying to get to sleep I need complete darkness in the room, I hate seeing moving shapes and lights through my eyelids. Gets on my nerves.

Door closed, curtains closed, everything switched off = perfect nights sleep. lol

Josy 27-07-2011 06:17 PM

I normally leave one of the music channels on all night.

Harry! 27-07-2011 06:17 PM

Yes sometimes I can't get to sleep without the TV on but I prefer it on silent mode with just the picture. Sometimes I can't settle otherwise.

Marc 27-07-2011 06:24 PM

It's so much easier to fall asleep with the telly on in the background

Chuck 27-07-2011 06:25 PM

No, I cant and I hate it :''(
The TV always must be off and the door, windows, curtains, closets and drawers must be closed.
But I always regardless of the weather sleep with the fan on

Change "off" to "on" and I'm exactly the same.

Chuck 27-07-2011 06:28 PM

Marc 27-07-2011 06:28 PM

Also sleeping with the window open

CharlieO 27-07-2011 06:29 PM

Sleeping with the nice hum of the aircon - I miss it. So calming.

I dont even like having the windows open during the day, or doors even. :'(

Ninastar 27-07-2011 06:32 PM

i have to otherwise im convinced that any sound i hear is a murderer/burglar/monster and i'm going to die

Doogle 27-07-2011 06:35 PM

Same here, if the TV is ****ed or there's a powercut I have my iPod.

One noise and I'm hiding for 20 minutes under the covers.

Tom4784 27-07-2011 06:35 PM

I used to sleep with the telly on but now I can only sleep with it off.

Lewis. 27-07-2011 06:37 PM

I have to when I'm sleeping on the sofa. If I'm in my bedroom then I like to have all the lights off and be in pitch black but when I'm downstairs on the sofa everything becomes a lot scarier

InOne 27-07-2011 06:37 PM

Not really, used to sleep with the radio on all night though

Callum 27-07-2011 06:43 PM

Never ever done this, can sleep perfectly fine without the TV on. I don't think my parents would appreciate the huge electricity bill because of it either.

Kerry 27-07-2011 08:19 PM

Can do though I often end up dreaming about whatever's on. Had loads of dreams about whats in the news. Not always good

Doogle 27-07-2011 08:21 PM

I once had a dream I was in the X Factor "caravan" due to a mix of watching...well X Factor and some documentary about gypsies :joker:

Marc 27-07-2011 08:22 PM

This thread title sounds like an album title

joeysteele 27-07-2011 08:25 PM

No, I need total silence to get to sleep, however the TV is on all day if I am in, even not watching it, I think it's broke if it's not on.

Well once I went to sleep and I had the news on and in my dream I dreamed that there was a breaking news bullentin about a gay horse who was drunk and kept on falling over on the racecourse. And it was constantly flashing!

Leona :amazed:

But :laugh3:

Niall 27-07-2011 08:30 PM

I cannot sleep with the TV on. It has to be like pin drop silent for me to sleep so I use earplugs. C:

No the horse was definately male.

SoBig 27-07-2011 08:34 PM

When I can't fall asleep I usually look for the most boring thing on aka the news to watch. That usually does the trick. If I fall asleep with something mildly interesting on, I usually have dreams about what they are saying on tv. Thats kinda weird. I think.

Marc 27-07-2011 08:35 PM

PMSL

Leona

Kerry 27-07-2011 08:35 PM

Sometimes dream about sirens if I hear one too

Chuck 27-07-2011 08:37 PM

I often dream that I'm falling, falling, falling, falling, falling like for ages and when I'm about to hit the ground, I wake up

I used to get them when I was younger. I miss them.

King Gizzard 27-07-2011 08:43 PM

I have it on a timer so I go to sleep watching it but it'll turn itself off in an hour

Thats reasonable

Claymores 27-07-2011 08:48 PM

I cannot sleep with the TV off - in fact it awakes me when the auto 3 on my Samsung swiches off @ 2am, 4am, 6am. Last night it was football - I can close my eyes and sleep to it so had to look in the morning if I'd won the £10 bet.

As soon as it switches off on timer, I awake.

GypsyGoth 27-07-2011 08:53 PM

I don't have a tv in my room, but I can't sleep listening to my ipod, so I don't think I could fall asleep with the tv on.

And I can sleep fine with my window open, but I always have to have my bedroom door closed.

Yeah I used to do that, would drift off with 5 Live on in the background

Visage 27-07-2011 11:20 PM

No to the TV switched on.

There's nothing I like better than sleeping in the dark with the window open and if it's raining outside (well it's not going to rain inside is it ? We have a roof) then I sleep like a baby, knowing I'm all tucked up.

Jordan. 27-07-2011 11:32 PM

I do the same :amazed: (with BBC3) Tonights good because American Dad is on most of the night/morning

Jords 28-07-2011 12:01 AM

It's so much easier but the TV I
in my bedroom is broke, waa
