Forum/Board Moderators?

I've seen quite a few forums who have this where members are made moderators of certain forums/boards (like purely for example: ukturtle, moderator of Creative Writing & Books; Shaun, moderator of Music, etc.) and I was wondering if this was something that could happen on TiBB?

I think it could be quite a good idea and would give more members the oppurtunity to have a taste of what it's like being a mod. There could be applications for it and current staff would choose who managed each board, and rather than being in charge of the whole place, they'd just be managing the board they were assigned with.

What do people think?

Good idea. We need more BB active mods.

Novo 31-07-2011 01:07 PM

Some Mods need to be relieved of there duties first

ILoveTRW 31-07-2011 01:10 PM

yeah make me a mod, id be the best

InOne 31-07-2011 01:14 PM

Too many old members being kept mods for the sake of being old members, need to de-mod them and get one's who know what is going on with the forum

Do you mean the ones that
Banned you Many Times.

Smithy 31-07-2011 01:22 PM

Whenever I've seen this is action it doesn't generally work, if an argument or something breaks out in one section and that mod isn't online at the time it can go on for ages

Spiffing

Josy 31-07-2011 01:25 PM

I don't see any need to be changing the moderating system to be honest, especially so close to bb starting and just because someone is active a lot in one section of the forum doesn't mean they would be suitable to moderate it.

Tom4784 31-07-2011 01:26 PM

I don't like the idea of specialised mods but I like the thought of refreshing them. I do feel with the oncoming storm that is on season we might need some new blood on the mod team, I shall treat it like the X Factor.

Marc 31-07-2011 01:27 PM

I don't see why a sub-section needs its own MOD. We MODs don't need to understand the sub-section on the forum eg. the artist that a thread is about, to understand that somebody in it is spamming or being rude/swearing/insults etc.

30Stone, Darenn, Red Moon should be removed really their never online. Kerry, Mollie, and Claudia should replace them

InOne 31-07-2011 01:29 PM

Does Zee really do any modding? :suspect:

He does actually.

Marc 31-07-2011 01:31 PM

I think we need to stay away from specifically naming people who are MODs and accusing them of not doing anything. Else this thread might just get out of hand :bored:

Smithy 31-07-2011 01:31 PM

what about nathan :suspect:

Smithy 31-07-2011 01:32 PM

oh ****, sorry marc didnt see that :L

It's not like the MODs collectively leave things undone. We're all notified when posts are reported and we can all see spam threads etc. They get done :)

Well, we don't make an announcement after everything we do :joker:

Lewis. 31-07-2011 01:35 PM

Think we definitely need some new blood on the mod team.. especially with big brother coming up and the usual influx of members who don't see the rules as something that they need to take any notice of.

Niamh. 31-07-2011 01:37 PM

half of the time people complain that there are too many moderators though!

We complain that there's too many inactive mods, there is a difference

Benjamin 31-07-2011 01:38 PM

I did put in a request for a couple of new Mods a few weeks back, so it is being discussed in Towers. Doesn't mean we'll get any, it just means we are discussing it. :)

Boothy 31-07-2011 01:39 PM

I don't really see the need for any more mods.

It's not like there are constantly problems that are going unsolved. There are quite a few of inactive mods though. Maybe get rid of these and give it to more active members?

Vicky. 31-07-2011 01:49 PM

I dont see the need really.

I do think we might possibly need some new mods for BB though, depends how busy it gets.

Z 31-07-2011 02:05 PM

Yeah I'm not really sure where the whole "Zee does nothing" thing came from, I do actually moderate, believe it or not

InOne 31-07-2011 02:08 PM

I just couldn't imagine you giving anyone an infraction or anything lol

In the whole "good cop bad cop" thing, I could always imagine you being the good cop. And Dezzy being the bad cop lol
