Are you a food and drink snob?

OK, maybe 'snob' is a bit too far. But one thing that gets right on my tits is people (usually quaffing on TV) saying certain drinks must be drank with certain foods. Certain wines "compliment" certain fishes or red wine suits certain meats. Bollocks

If I want white wine and pork scratchings I'll have it. It's just food and drink :conf:

Smithy 05-08-2011 12:33 AM

no, ill drink what i want/eat whatever i want

Joelle. 05-08-2011 12:34 AM

No im a grazer. I'll basically eat anything whenever.

Shaun 05-08-2011 12:34 AM

only in the sense that I generally only eat/drink branded stuff. No store's-own-brand ty

Firewire 05-08-2011 12:36 AM

As long as Diet Coke's available, I'm fine.

Boothy 05-08-2011 12:37 AM

Nah, I'll eat anything and drink whatever I want with it.

Stu 05-08-2011 12:39 AM

I smoke pot so I'll eat an A4 sketch pad if it takes my fancy.

Marsh. 05-08-2011 12:40 AM

I used to be quite snobbish about supermarkets "own brands". And I still am when it comes to Tesco cola or something because it tastes like ****. But other than that the rest of the own brand food is exactly the same (as in all from the same factory) just wrapped in different packaging.

Silly of me to not know but it was only when my auntie was telling me about working in a Jacob's biscuits factory that she was going on about making all the clubs in one place and then just wrapping them up differently. Not to mention I've never eaten another club biscuit since after hearing how they made them. Makes me wanna heave.

Joelle. 05-08-2011 12:43 AM

I will eat Morrisons Malties and Choco Dots instead of Shreddies and Coco Pops.

CharlieO 05-08-2011 12:57 AM

Yes I am snobish with food.

Chuck 05-08-2011 03:55 AM

I'm a food snob but I'll drink everything as long as it's alcoholic.

joeysteele 05-08-2011 08:05 AM

No I am not a food and drink snob, if I was at a formal occassion I would do what appeared to be the right etiquette but with meals, I near always drink water anyway.
The wine tasting bit, really makes me want to laugh.

Ammi 05-08-2011 08:16 AM

I'm not a food or drink snob, but am a finicky eater and not very adventurous in trying new things. I know nothing about wines and don't drink alcohol anyway so I have no interest in the 'right wine'. I don't take any of the 'experts' on TV seriously, but it's not a bad job. It doesn't matter what they say, we will like and dislike what we want. I'm sure I could eat at the best restaurant in the world and pick fault with the food. That's just me:hugesmile:

Marc 05-08-2011 08:23 AM

I'll buy smirnoff over any other vodka brand. :hmph:

I don't mind if someone suggests that a certain wine might go better with a particular food. Other than that I'll eat and drink pretty much what I want. I hate it when people say that lamb must be pink and the fat all white and floppy, and steak must be flushed red in the middle. I like my meat cooked so it looks like a hockey puck, and if the chef doesn't like it, then the place I'm eating at is probably a bit pretentious.

Not really fussed what I eat/drink together. Can only have own brand pizza though - can't stand it when the tomato sauce is too rich on the posh pizza's. :(

You say that like it's a good thing.

Smirnoff is Mickey Mouse vodka. Ask anyone who knows vodka.

Vodkas from the Baltic States are by far the best. Also all around that area

Have you tried Kalashnikov vodka? You can get a bottle in the shape of an AK47.

It is cool... I've had the vodka but only from an ordinary bottle. I've always thought assault rifles and drunkenness were like a natural pairing.

Rare meat :worship:

Jords 05-08-2011 01:43 PM

Nope although we rarely buy any shop-branded stuff because its generally mank and the packaging is not as pretty.

I just couldn't. I'm proper squeamish about bloody meat. And I hate fish, but I really like crab sticks. What's that all about?

You were pinched by a crab when you were a child and want revenge?

Typically TIBB's style, a thread on food and drink has turned into one about vodka and crabs:joker:
