Banksy

What is your opinion of him?

Discuss

CharlieO 13-08-2011 09:30 PM

I love pretty much all his work I have seen images of.

Kerry 13-08-2011 09:45 PM

He is an amazing artist. I'm tiring now of all this anonymity thing though. OK most of the stuff he does would get him locked up but anyone with half a brain could find him in seconds in reality

Marc 13-08-2011 09:50 PM

I like street art, sometimes it helps to make the wall more enjoyable to walk past, but I don't like graffiti like the stuff I see on the way to work 'this is just to distract you - well it worked you *****!' :bored:

Kerry 13-08-2011 10:06 PM

I'm half watching a documentory about him on C4+1 called Exit Through The Gift Shop. It's interesting. Might be on C4OD later perhaps

Kerry 13-08-2011 10:07 PM

Oh and my OP is a link about him btw. Not just underlined

Jords 13-08-2011 10:09 PM

From them images I like his work! I always think this kinda stuff is art rather than crime.

waterhog 13-08-2011 11:12 PM

banksy killed king robbo

billy123 13-08-2011 11:34 PM

I want to know where he has stashed the rest of the £1 million in £10 notes with princess diana on.
Ive seen exit through the gift shop a few times and on first viewing its such an odd sequence of events that i thought it had to be scripted but it really isnt.

The way banksy turns the theme of the documentary back on thierry guetta (mr brainwash) is genius in its self.

Im a big fan of banksy his work is amazing.

Its well worth a proper watch banksy told Mr brainwash to have a go at doing a bit of art and went on his way next he heard was that Mr Brainwash had re-mortgaged his family home and spent all his life savings over quarter of a million dollars on opening a massive art studio and a team of staff :joker:

Yes he made a million dollars in the first 8 days of his first exhibition and he is really good at what he does its just really weird how he ended up doing it. he got the best graffiti artists in the world to tell everyone in the artworld that he was a genius and they just accepted it and started paying big money for his work.

Kerry 14-08-2011 10:00 PM

The lengths they go to! It's crazy!

lostalex 14-08-2011 10:03 PM

I saw an article recently that showed that he just copied the work that a french street artist was doing. Made me lose a lot of respect for him. I did enjoy the documentary movie he made though "exit through the gift shop"

But now that i know he stole his style and ideas from another artist especially a FRENCH artist, i think he's a poseur.

Lol sneaking around in a canoe in the middle of the night risking serious jail time is nuts.

It just showed the french guy on this documentary and he was the person to come up with the idea of using stencils instead of free drawing and banksy acknowledges him as an influence and admires him he doesnt copy his work as it were but he admits he is influenced by him.

The doc I'm watching now says he allegedly stole his style. I'm not convinced he has

Kerry 14-08-2011 10:14 PM

That stencil guy keeps missing out the "W"

Kerry 14-08-2011 10:17 PM

I could be as good as Robbo if I snorted a load of paint and sneezed on some canvas

Yeah I was kinda gobsmacked. I'm guessing a Banksy fan :( Oh, so stupid all this...

billy123 14-08-2011 10:41 PM

This is the only thing i can find.

This statement has been released by 'The King Robbo Trust'

As rumour, speculation and public comments regarding King Robbo circulate throughout the Art World and Graffiti grapevine, we would like to set the record straight by offering the following statement ;

On April 2nd 2011 King Robbo sustained a serious life threatening head injury just 5 days prior to his current exhibition, 'Team Robbo - The Sell Out Tour' at the Signal Gallery, Shoreditch, London.

As a result he has not been available for comment or interviews.
He was also unable to show all of his intended new works at the current exhibition.

He is now out of the intensive care unit and making small but steady progress.

This has been an extremely difficult time for his family and close friends and we would like their privacy to be respected in light of the current situation.

Cheers Bobnot. It's certainly intriguing

Kerry 14-08-2011 10:47 PM

Hang on, when did this happen? I've just seen an article published in April this year about Robbo being back

If it was this article:
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-en...y-2270575.html
It happened 3 weeks before that and they dont even mention it in the article. Someone in the comments section is wondering why.

A statement on here:
http://londonstreetartdesign.blogspo...-thoughts.html
Makes it sound like he was still in a coma on may 7th so he must have been pretty messed up.
