Lil Wayne Announces New Album 'Devol'

Tha Carter IV sells a whopping 964k in first week of release stateside. Exceeding the 850k prediction.

wow that's some serious sh!t right there. And without gimmicks or 99c giveaways too. :)

Adele may have a contender on her hands at last in the states. Though I can't see him catching her as she's on the rise again.

SoBig 07-09-2011 03:19 PM

Zippy 07-09-2011 03:26 PM

It's not quite as good as Carter III though which debuted at 1.01million a few years back.

Legend killer 07-09-2011 03:34 PM

Tragedy

Iceman 07-09-2011 03:36 PM

Yeah Watch The throne didnt sell anywhere near that. but they did release it at a stupid time.

Legend killer 07-09-2011 03:38 PM

Eoin u serious I thought WTT would have been huge

Locke. 07-09-2011 03:39 PM

Watch the Throne will be a more consistent seller, this has sold so many because the record label have done what they always do and buy a big chunk of the records

It sold 436,000 but it didnt get a full first week on the charts....

Tom4784 07-09-2011 03:42 PM

964,000 people have a serious lack of taste.

Doogle 07-09-2011 03:44 PM

How so many?! It's not that good.

Legend killer 07-09-2011 03:44 PM

:joker:

wake up, WTT was released already and did average.

And Kanye West is even worse than 50cent at rapping. Both flat monotonous mumblers.

Not that impressive. Taylor Swift sold over a million copies of Speak Now on it's first week of release.

How is it silly? You're making out like this is some huge feat for the music industry when in fact it's not because many artists have sold over a million copies in just a week. Still great sales though, just seen better. :)

Roy Mars III 07-09-2011 05:26 PM

Not bad for a less than stellar album.

Shaun 07-09-2011 06:19 PM

Lil Wayne is one of the most disgusting human beings ever to walk the Earth.

It kind of is. His last album sold over a million in the first week. To have another one nearly do the same is a huge coup for him. Also he broke the record for the itunes thing or something.

Oh OK never knew that, in that case it is a pretty big feat then, congrats to him I guess. :)

Vladimir 07-09-2011 06:41 PM

I'd rather shoot myself than pay for his 'music'.

Smithy 07-09-2011 09:31 PM

Ohh America :bored:

Harry! 07-09-2011 09:33 PM

I thought he was meant to be ''retiring'' from the music world.

InOne 08-09-2011 12:06 AM

Don't get all this Lil Wayne hype :/

I still haven't quite forgiven Eminem for working with him :nono:

No he said he would after this album but it's unlikely.

i like that song actually, the version without him on it is the one I play now though.

King Gizzard 08-09-2011 12:08 AM

He is awfffffuuuuuuulllllllllll

Roy Mars III 08-09-2011 12:10 AM

I don't dislike Lil Wayne, he's just massively overrated. There are so many other rappers out there who are better than him, that are overlooked.

I did like The Carter II, but that's about it.

Iceman 08-09-2011 12:11 AM

For those interested

Joelle. 08-09-2011 12:11 AM

Not a fan of his, but don't massively dislike him either.

That is a great song though.

Iceman 08-09-2011 12:13 AM

Yeah Eminem's verse on that is probably in my top 3 favourite all time from him....just on fire

Zippy 08-09-2011 12:16 AM

What is it with these rappers claiming to retire? It's like they all claim it but none of them ever actually do. So tedious and pointless.

It's odd I started this thread really as I have no interest in him other than his impressive sales figures. I was looking for somewhere to post it but couldnt find anywhere so just started a thread instead. :)

InOne 08-09-2011 12:16 AM

Yeah def better without him lol

but not that many claim it themselves....Jay-Z and Lil Wayne are the only two I can think of. Eminem was said to be retiring but never said anything himself. Dr Dre will retire after detox but I've come to the realisation he keeps pushing it back because he wants to stay true to that. 50 Cent is out of a record deal now so maybe he will and The Game will probably end up in prison or dead....
