I watched a newish spin off once where the gimmick was at the end of each episode the villains actions would be explained as being somewhat charitable or excusable. It was dire. I guess they thought having actual mean people in a kids show was too dangerous a concept to be mucking about with.

That sounds like something that's pretty stupid to teach kids anyway. It's fine to do 'bad' things if it's for charity or the like...
