People putting spoilers up

I know some of you put the word SPOILER in the thread title - but seeing as all it takes is to briefly move the mouse over the thread title and it reveals the wording in your opening post....... can you please spoiler the OP content as well - otherwise it's all too easy to accidentally see what you have written without even opening up the thread.

Ta very much.

Pyramid* 15-01-2012 02:28 PM

There are now no less than 3 threads now all showing the same thing, 4 if you include the poll.

sigh.

Thank you.

Nice to see that someone sees where I am coming from.

I didn't necessarily want to know this info just yet - but with so many threads on the same subject, with the Opening posts not spoilered (though I see King_Anton has now done so) - putting the word spoiler in the thread heading is a waste of time.

Benjamin 15-01-2012 02:42 PM

If you give me a chance I'm merging them all...

lostalex 15-01-2012 02:43 PM

yea srsly, give the mods a chance, impatient bastards :P

fruit_cake 15-01-2012 02:44 PM

why are they called spoilers? is it because they spoil everything?

My most pertinent point is the fact that mentioning the names in the first post defeats the purpose of putting the word SPOILER in the thread title.

You cannot be seriously asking that question?:conf:

Marc 15-01-2012 02:48 PM

I agree, I think they should be in [spoiler] format as well..

Crimson Dynamo 15-01-2012 02:50 PM

Its not like it is anything important FFS.

Would it be possible to perhaps make mention of this in Tibb Towers at all?

Even putting the post in a spoiler it still comes up when you hover over it. I'll mention to admin about it, see if they can change that.

Shasown 15-01-2012 02:52 PM

Why not insist on every post on every thread to be posted in spoilers, would also save people putting others on ignore lists etc.

Brother Leon 15-01-2012 02:54 PM

Mine was first one I THINK.....

I spoilered it when I read this. My bad :)

Just put the Word SPOILER first line and press enter a few times
Problem solved :)

If it wasn't then there would not be requested in the rules as posted by Admin and the mods.... - as is the fact it does in fact state that the opening post text should also be spoilered.

It even goes as far to explain how to do it.

:p

Posting spoilers, without a spoiler warning in the title, and spoiler tags inside the thread, will be punished. Not everyone wants to know things before they happen. To post a spoiler, just put the text inside [ spoiler] [ /spoiler] (minus the spaces)

Maybe a wee step for a hint would be a very gently reminder by way of announcement from the mod team would highlight that what is requested by members posting spoilers, isn't happening.

A friendly reminder to fms wouldn't perhaps go amiss.

Stu 15-01-2012 03:06 PM

I need to put deliberate intent into having my pointer on a thread title and leave it there for a good, countable second before the opening post appears.

I wish my computer was as fast as yours.

No need for your sarky comment. I have a valid point, whether you like it or not.

Yes, thanks too from me as well UKT.

storm in a teacup

Stu 15-01-2012 03:12 PM

It wasn't a sarky comment. I literally have to do that. I didn't know other computers were capable of doing it so much faster. Presumably the words also flash in magenta bold too and linger with a sort of fading effect for a further eight seconds to spoil all the top Big Brother action.

Seeing as it happens to be one of the rules of the forum - see my previous link - you might want to relay that info to admin - seeing as they make the rules.

It is a valid point - regardless.

Well clearly I am not the only person on this thread who had the same thoughts on the matter - perhaps you want to address them also in having super duper fast computers too?

Good bodyswerve there Stu.

The point remains -others too have commented on the same thing - so clearly others find it as equally annoying.

Stu 15-01-2012 03:20 PM

I don't think I've ever contended that?

Did you think I was directly adressing you or something? Because I wasn't.

Tom4784 15-01-2012 03:21 PM

Just don't hover over topics with spoilers in them?

It literally only takes second - and if you are moving down the titles or accidentally move the mouse too far, it's easy enough to do - even easier when there were at the time, 4 or 5 threads all on the same topic, all doing the same thing.

It's a valid point as I have said repeatedly.

Tom4784 15-01-2012 03:30 PM

Don't leave your cursor hanging over the topics then? It seems pointless to make a big deal over it when you can avoid it by making a few micro movements.

As I said Dezzy, I have a valid point and I explained it quite clearly why it is valid.

Oddly enough: it is in the rules that the text inside the thread should also be spoilered - I'd have thought a mod would have been promoting people sticking to the rules, rather than telling fms that their raising such a matter was pointless. I thought we were meant to follow rules, not ignore them?:conf:

No point you arguing with me about it: I'm not making a big deal - you can see from my original post, it was a polite friendly request - and as far away from a big deal. People not liking my saying what I've said, are the ones making a big deal - not me.

Tom4784 15-01-2012 03:44 PM

Nevertheless it's pedantic when it's so easily avoided.
