My life ambition is now to hug a monkey.

Livia 14-03-2012 02:36 PM

Humans do such terrible things to them... makes me wonder how anyone could.

They do. Have you ever seen that film Project X? It was the first film that made me cry and I'm not a big movie crier

If it's got anything to do with animals being hurt or abused I could never watch it. I remember watching Black Beauty when I was little and sobbing until my throat hurt. Don't have any such sensibilities about watching humans blow lumps off each other though.

Have you ever seen 'The Yearling'.....it is one of the saddest films I have ever seen

Jesus. 14-03-2012 03:00 PM

As a natural history obsessive, most of these are Apes, not monkeys.

I love the TED talks, and this one is amazing.

Anyone interested in animals, generally, should check out the one on Crows too.

I've seen a bit of it... I've seen a bit of a lot of films with animals in. I wasn't allowed to watch Bambi until I was well into secondary school, and even then I was a sobbing wreck. I would love to see War Horse but I can't... I just can't.

If you have ever had a monkey hiss at you. They are terrifying animals, I can't even.

I have the same dilema Livia,I'de love to see that movie (War Horse)but know I would end up being really upset,I cannot watch anything that involves animals being hurt,I have seen Bambi and always get teary over it, I made the mistake of watching a 'PETA' documentry once ,it haunted me for weeks ,I still think about it now,so i try and avoid anything like that now,How people can do some of the things they do to animals is beyond me,I cannot comprehend a mind that would do it.the movie ,Dances with wolves was another one i got upset at,when the horse and wolf got killed.I really am useless.

I see I am not alone...

I watched a progamme about the fur trade, where the Chinese skin cats and dogs for their fur. Their trusting, agonised faces haunt me even now.
