Politically speaking, what do you consider yourself to be?

Like what kind of ideology/party would you align yourself with?

I pretty sure I'm a socialist or a market socialist. I can't really pick between the two.

I would add a poll, but there are so many political ideologies and groups that I'd miss out on so many.

MTVN 05-05-2012 09:31 PM

Umm left libertarian probably, I'm quite nihilistic with my politics really

For You Sure.

Kizzy 05-05-2012 09:37 PM

Why bother to post smithy if you have no opinion?.....
I am a liberal thinker and support the nurture of all back to work or training.

Novo 05-05-2012 09:38 PM

And for Smithers as well

Difficult to define. Some kind of liberal. Not Lib-Dem or Labour. Or at least not in their current states. UK politics is too dominated by posturing and purchasing power.

I did vote conservative... but only because the only realistic choices in my home constituency were Lib Dem and Conservative. I voted green in the local election. I think the fact that there only appear to be three major parties is sad, since there's so many issues they all ignore. Perhaps I'm naive to believe that anything would change with the greens or other parties, but... meh.

joeysteele 05-05-2012 09:43 PM

I would put myself at the centre of politics, I can see the worth in both left and right as to politics.

I am not into party machine politics,in the right circumstances I could see myself voting for both the 2 main parties.
I guess I leaned towards Lib Dems but have had my fingers well and truly burned there so they have lost my vote for decades at least.

My time is more for consensus politics and politicians and I just wish all those consensus politicians.(of whom there are lots in all parties), would speak out more and join forces more, politics and the UK would in my opinion be far better for that.
I also think the voters would appreciate that more too rather than, they did this, they didn't do this, backbiting, tennis type batting that makes Politics and politicians look childish and also really ridiculous, especially in this modern age.

King Gizzard 05-05-2012 09:44 PM

Don't see what's so wrong about saying ''not bothered'' that's his opinion and he's entitled to think it, like the many others who don't really care for any of the parties/politics in general.

Out of interest joey did you vote in favour of PR? Since you appear to be in favour of consensus politics. I did. It's a shame how easily it was defeated in that referendum.

I don't wish to argue nathan but when someone makes a thread designed for fm's to post their opinion on a subject then a response of 'not bothered' is not productive to the discussion. If he were to elaborate and explain why he was not bothered it may make some sense.

Brother Leon 05-05-2012 09:53 PM

Used to back the Lib Dems as they actually understood Students and people my age as a whole. They can get stuffed now though.

They all can. Galloway for P.M :idc:

Kizzy 05-05-2012 09:53 PM

I only got your result there boothy :)

GypsyGoth 05-05-2012 10:06 PM

I don't support any party.

Some of my views can seem strict but others I have are pretty liberal, and it depends what mood I'm in.

I'd usually vote for a politician's personality rather than their party.

You are a social democratic Cosmopolitan. 13 percent of the test participators are in the same category and 36 percent are more extremist than you.

That would be Fun.

LemonJam 05-05-2012 10:15 PM

According to that quiz I'm a social democratic Cosmopolitan ... and I thought cosmopolitan was just a cocktail.

Cosmopolitan - 37% [as opposed to nationalistic]
Secular - 15% [as opposed to fundamentalist]
Visionary - 18% [as opposed to reactionary]
Anarchistic - 23% [as opposed to authoritarian]
Communistic - 25% [as opposed to capitalistic]
Pacifist - 24% [as opposed to militaristic]
Ecological - 18% [as opposed to anthropocentric]

-looks all these words up-

It could be his Age.

Josy 05-05-2012 10:36 PM

His response to the thread was he considers himself to be not bothered about politics, thats his opinion I really dont see what the big deal is? so can we stick to the topic now?

I didn't support AV Shaun no, I am in favour of PR but I thought AV to be a poor step on the road to it.
I think the first past the post delivers stronger Govt but not much in the way of consensus Govt. I would support PR in a future referendum on the issue.

Also having said all that,I regret not supporting AV now, not that it would have come into effect anyway being so soundly beaten and I can see the point you are likely making that it would have been a step towards a better PR system and as you point out, likely would have created a better environment for censensus politics to thrive more.

A social liberal (i.e. do anything you want so long as it's not hurting anyone else) but definitely not a market one...I'm anti-capitalist.

I hate privatisation and I dislike how powerful the private sector is. I think capitalism only exploits the working class and is a system which will only continue to widen the gap between rich and poor. I also think the concept of meritocracy is an absolute myth. All spoken like a true Marxist I guess...and I've said it before on here but I'm fascinated by his works and theories so far from what I've learnt, so yeah. And I'll take the test in a bit.

Down with the bourgeois :p

Bit more 'cosmopolitan' and pacifistic than that, and secular should be at 100%, but otherwise it seems pretty accurate.

There are lots of threads I have no interest in, and I'm not bothered about.
It is not a big deal, just seems unusual josy :)
