Gods and Mortals: Task... Starting!

11.16am: The Gods will be waited on
hand and foot, the mortals, dressed in
rags, will complete challenges to try to
achieve God status. #cbb

11.15am: Martin is now Zeus, Julie is
now Aphrodite. Everyone else is a
mortal and confined to the living
room, bedroom and kitchen.
11.08am: Housemates have been
called to the sofas. Coleen is reading
out the rules of a new task, Gods and
Mortals. #cbb #godsmortals
EDIT... A few more details post #15

Suze 27-08-2012 10:41 AM

Wasn't there a similar task in BB8?

MrWong 27-08-2012 10:41 AM

Thanks Gillian

Sounds good and could create a fair bit of drama.

chuff me dizzy 27-08-2012 10:44 AM

I would have put my house on Julie being a God :bored:

Ellen 27-08-2012 10:47 AM

Sounds like it could be a good task.

Such a BB goddess.

Nedusa 27-08-2012 11:00 AM

This is just another rehash of a previous task done a few times in BB, I really wanted to see Julie as a mortal, might have brought out the darker side of her nature especially if she had to wait hand and foot on the younger ones.

This way she just gets to carry on being the Diva and has no demands placed on her. So no chance of the "Game plan" being compromised...

So true, but she was never going to be anything but a God, such a pity ,it could have been her downfall

realitytvsux 27-08-2012 11:38 AM

I still quite like Julie, even though, or maybe especially because she is queen bee and totally toxic. It would have been nice to have made her a mortal and had her obey orders from people like Danica, Coleen and the sitch!

reece(: 27-08-2012 11:48 AM

Annoyed that diva Julie gets God role by default, so unfair she should be made to clean the carpets lazy git!!

Gillian-73 27-08-2012 11:49 AM

After much baffled sniffing around the
podium and vines, the housemates
have been put out of their misery - or
rather Martin and Julie have been put
out of their misery. The remaining
nine have not been as lucky... Mwa-
ha-ha.
For this week's shopping task,
housemates have been split into Gods
and Mortals. Gods will live the life of
luxury on Mount Olympus (the large
task room and garden) whereas
Mortals will banished from going
outside as they toil down on Earth
(inside the House).
The Mortals will compete against each
other in a series of trials, after each
trial it will be down to the Gods to
decide which Mortal pleased them the
most. This Mortal will then become a
God and join Mount Olympus.
Gods must choose their new godly
recruits wisely as at the end of the task
they themselves will compete in the
final trial, passing this trial will secure
a luxury shopping budget for the
House.
Big Brother has selected Julie to
become Aphrodite, the Goddess of
Love and Martin to become Zeus, King
of the Gods. This deity duo will be
given an ‘all seeing eye’, through
which they will be able to watch over
the Mortals down on Earth. They must
not let the Mortals know that they
have this power.
If the Mortals struggle as much with
their challenges as they have done
changing into their rags (costume
options for Mortals suck) this will be
an entertaining task. We shall keep
you updated as the two new realms
collide

Cherie 27-08-2012 12:10 PM

ooo BB chose who the Gods were...two of the oldies  why wasnt there a fairer way of appointing the Gods :conf::conf:...whats the guessing Julie will make Julian a God asap? Ive now resorted to watching CBB on catch up so I can fast forward....if anyone has missed the first two eps of Last Weekend 9pm on ITV on Sunday night, last ep next Sunday do yourself a favour and watch it instead of watching this garbage.

It was never going to happen

The Gods will be given an ‘all seeing eye’. Through this eye they will be able to watch over the mortals down on Earth. However, they are NOT permitted to let the mortals know that they have this power.

DAY ONE

HIT ONE – HUMAN STATUES – TRIAL OF RESILIANCE

All mortals have been turned into statues and must stand on the wobbly statue plinths. On the sound of the golden horn they will compete to stay on the plinths for as long as possible.

At the end of the trial the Gods will select one mortal that pleased the Gods the most to join them on Mount Olympus to become a God.

For this trial Big Brother is providing the Gods with the power of the elements which they can use to test the mortals. Gods can use these powers on Housemates of their choice.

Big Brother will instruct the Gods when they can use the following elemental powers:

EARTH

Gods can sling mud at the mortals. Gods must take the mud and make it into balls and throw it.

WATER

Aphrodite should operate the ancient stone water cannon using the trigger and aiming the cannon at the mortals.

Zeus can use the rack of ancient stone water guns on the mortals and water bombs.

WIND

Gods must activate the wind by pressing the button.

FIRE

Gods can throw the fireballs at the mortals. Gods can retrieve the balls and fire them as many times as they wish.

HIT TWO – THE ALTER OF SACRIFICE – TRIAL OF DEVOTION

Mortals will compete in The Altar of Devotion.

This is a trial of Sacrifice.

On a huge stone tablet are eight sacrifices that Mortals must make to prove their devotion to the Gods.

Mortals will be permitted ten minutes to decide amongst themselves which Mortal will make which sacrifice.

Once the time has elapsed Mortals will take turns to approach the ‘Alter of Devotion’ in the garden and declare their sacrifice leaving any relevant items on the altar.

Once Mortals have declared their sacrifice, Mortals will have to go through with that sacrifice until further notice. If Mortals fail to carry out their sacrifices, all Mortals will be punished.

Once all Mortals have declared their sacrifice the Gods will choose one Mortal whose sacrifice pleased the Gods the most. This Mortal will become a God.

The sacrifices are as follows:

· ‘I HEREBY SACRIFICE MY WORLDLY GOODS’ (must give up five outfits)

· ‘I HEREBY SACRIFICE MY VANITY’ (lose 10 makeup/beauty products if girl or Julian lose all grooming products if man)

· ‘I HEREBY SACRIFICE MY INDEPENDENCE’ (the Gods pick another Mortal for them to be handcuffed to)

· ‘I HEREBY SACRIFICE MY DIGNITY’ (must pour fish guts over their head)

· ‘I HEREBY SACRIFICE MY GLUTTONY’ (given a pack of basic rations this is all they can eat)

· I HEREBY LOSE MY RIGHT TO PRIVACY
(they have their nominations read out – this will be two sets of nominations)

· I HEREBY SACRIFICE MY STATUS
(must do all the cleaning and cooking for the Mortals including all washing up)

· ‘I HEREBY SACRIFICE MY BEAUTY’ (must wear a bald cap and glue on warts to their face)
From TellyMix

Munchkins 27-08-2012 01:15 PM

what a bloody surprise that saint Julie is one of the gods

Suze 27-08-2012 01:18 PM

When Coleen was moaning about nominations the other day, didn't she say she prefers face to face noms? So maybe she should choose the following of the trials then:

· I HEREBY LOSE MY RIGHT TO PRIVACY
(they have their nominations read out – this will be two sets of nominations)

Ah yes, good spot.

I feel for the person that actually does get that one though. It's definitely the worst.

To be fair, it was BB chose her, she didn't choose herself. The same way BB always choose who gets to do the secret tasks, Is the choosing re those any more fair? Was the way Conor BB13 was chosen for the White room fair? And maybe BB based this one on age, and how she would manage or not the mortal tasks? Plus there will be more than just the two Gods soon.

Josy 27-08-2012 01:25 PM

I think some people forget that Julie is a 70 year old woman, maybe BB chose her to be a god because she's not fit to do part of the task or something?

Josy she should be treat the same as the others

Suze 27-08-2012 01:29 PM

They are treating her the same as the other housemates, she is doing the task. However, if they wish a 70 yr old woman in there, then for certain tasks provisions should be made, the same way IACGMOOH do for certain contestants in tasks.

So you expect her to be running round doing really difficult physical tasks at 70 years old? come on Chuff I know you dislike her but thats just silly

BB normally make exceptions for things like that tbf.

In this task ,yes she should not have been treat differntly,an assault course or something like that is different, but knowing she was going in has made the tasks lame to cover her age ,which is making dull viewing IMO

reece(: 27-08-2012 01:32 PM

Germaine Greer, Rula Lenska, John mccririck, Stephanie Beacham etc all did their part of tasks that included physical tasks. Julie shouldn't be wrote out cos she's a couple of years older than the others

Her act has worked

Kizzy 27-08-2012 01:35 PM

I agree with josy, I like the fact that all age ranges are in CBB at least, but we must be aware of their physical limitations.

Ellen 27-08-2012 01:36 PM

There has been many times in cbb & bb where hm's have been excluded from doing a task because of some back prob, leg prob, fear of something etc... Julie is still involved in the task.

Fair play to them, but we have no idea if Julie is capable health wise of doing physical tasks.

Julie wasn't the only one that BB chose but no one is moaning about Martin I think's it's just a case of jumping on every little thing to bash her.

Maybe they were physically fitter than Julie though? And Julie is participating in this task, just not in the bit that some on here were hoping, which could have more demanding bits in the task for someone of her age. Also BB had to chose two Gods, would some be making such a fuss if it were their favourites chosen? Plus we still have more Gods to be chosen.

Come on though, even Jackie Stallone could take some fish guts over her or getting into a costume, they just write Julie off because she'd be a God and a god only. Life doesn't end at 70, my grandparents are as fit as fiddles and are still physically capable, as is Julie

Also the task when they had all to stand in the garden next to the board that described them (can't remember the name of it now) I think Julie was the only hm to have a chair.

Of course life doesn't stop at 70, that doesn't mean that physically we are all at the same peak of fitness at all. So good on your Grandparents that they are still physically capable, but not everyone can have that same peak of fitness whatever their age. BB asked Julie on there, and if and we don't know for sure allowances have to be made, but if so, then they have to be made, as long as she is still entertaining and taking part in the tasks then I don't see the problem at all. BB chooses the taskers, the housemates don't choose themselves.
