How multicultural is the town you live in?
So I live in Harrogate which is a very white town.
I've had very little black people at the schools I went to (I dont think there was one at my primary school D: ) and even fewer asian people. Poll coming up |
I saw a black guy the other day
|
It's mixed. In the college I got to though it's 70% black.
|
When I lived in London it was 50/50 in my area (South West) but here in Dover it's about 4% white 1% black and 95% Slovakian
|
I'd say it's majority white but black people aren't rare at all.
There's a couple of families around the corner from me who always wear Sari's so I'm *guessing* they're Indian, but have no idea. |
I'd say probably 80% white, use to be mostly white but last few years there's more of a mix, when I was at school it was about 99% white
That doesn't sound right saying it like that, feels weird Lol |
Spoiler: |
I think maybe 70% white.

Do you live in St Helens, Marsh?
|
Very white town. There are minimal ethnic minorities in my school. Pupils are 100% white. There's one black teacher.

Kind of on the fringe between that and Wigan. |
A fair few ethnic people live where I live. I wouldn't say as many as half and half but there are a lot.
It's really weird because at my sixth form there are two main parts to our common room and it's sort of naturally segregated itself. All the white people hang out in one room, and all the blacks and asians hang out in the other. It wasn't intentional, it just sort of happened. It's so odd. o_o |
I say about 95% white in my town, Ireland in general is really white though.

There's on black kid at work, and the kids had never seen one before.
One of the kids even said 'what's that!?" to him it's weird to think that they've never seen a black child before |

Kids can be funny. |
Having said all that about where I live, though, there's almost some sort of ethnic segregation and the minority groups tend to be found in one area. But of course they attend schools all over the city so it's not too segregated or anything.

Lots of Pakistanis and Polish. Also loads from various other Eastern European countries.

There are lots of people from Nigeria in my city for some reason and lots of Chinese people too, there are loads of Polish and Romanians and also many from other parts of Africa but this has only been the situation for the past few years, when I was in primary school almost everyone I saw around here was white-Irish. I think it's great to live somewhere so diverse. :D
|
I remember being a kid and thinking tigger was a racist word, so i couldn't understand why it was used in winnie the pooh and didn't watch it
|
My village back home is overwhelmingly white, only a couple of people of other races but I guess that's what you'd expect from a small, rural village in the west country. Where I am at Uni there's a bit more diversity but it's still mainly white, there are loads of Chinese students here though

I live 2 miles from Bradford, but where I live is 99% white...

I'm the only ethnic minority in this thread (I think)
