If we've eaten lasagne and burgers over the last 12 months, then we're on our way, aren't we? Or do you have to eat them in one sitting, like an American afternoon snack? Are we talking the small burgers, quarter pounders or half pounders? What about when the meat rubs on to the buns? Do they become bute contaminated? If I ate 199 burgers would I live? You're the go to guy for burger news, and you're doing a great job. Keep up the good work. |
"If I ate 199 burgers would I live?"

Tesco can not afford to loose anymore customers so they are rushing a Special Site to show how there food is made. Good News on Morrisons they did 68 tests No Horse DNA. SkyNewsHD Live |
They were saying on QT last night, that an adult would need to eat 500 burgers a day to reach dangerous levels of bute.
|
Quote:
Thats a guess. |
I think we're all safe from Bute poisoning anyway. Whether it's 50 or 5000 burgers a day, we should be good. At least that fear can be eased, and we can start to get to the bottom of this without bute deaths.
|
Don't worry arista my lad has not had any horse burger :)
Good old morrybobs :D Think they have upped it as they don't want to start a national panic, funny how they tried to play down the BSE (mad cow) and CJD (creutzfeldt jacobs disease) for long enough too? |

[Horsemeat scandal boosts sales for
small-scale butchers Trade jumps by as much as 30% for those offering locally sourced, high-quality meat as shoppers shun processed food] http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/...sh-but-008.jpg http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/fe...sales-butchers Boost in butchers trade. |
Excellent news! many people have lost faith in the supermarkets, list's of ingredients on food labelling and 'brand' names mean nothing anymore.
|
I seldom by meat at a supermarket and then only proper cuts like chicken legs or pork or lamb chops, and not ready meals, and that is only when I can not get meat from my normal supplier Grainger Market in Newcastle.
All the butchers there use local produce and are independent and some cuts are cheaper than in the supermarket. On the first Friday of the month I go to a local farmers market. At the beginning of the month I got some organic mince and last week I made spaghetti bolognaise from scratch, to prove it can be done. If you learn to cook properly there is no need to ever get one of those dodgy ready meals, and if you know where to shop you don't break the bank. |
Good on ya sticks, let's hope many more people support local farmers.
