Scratch Cards

Do you buy Scratch Cards?

If you do, do you check the lottery website to see if theres any decent prizes left on them or do you just buy and hope for the best?

Niamh. 25-02-2013 11:19 AM

Nah, the only time I get a scratch card is if I win one from the Lotto draw

Jesus. 25-02-2013 11:21 AM

I've never bought a single scratch card. I do play both Euro lotteries every week though. I have no idea why I don't do the normal one. I guess the £3-5m prize, compared to £12m min on the Euro makes it less appealing, but it's not as though £3m wouldn't change my life completely.

I've always thought the lottery/scratch cards caused weird psychology.

MTVN 25-02-2013 11:24 AM

Went through a phase of buying them when I was 16/17 but don't bother anymore, think they're a bit pointless

Black Dagger 25-02-2013 11:24 AM

Every once in a while. I tend to win on the ones I get. I must be lucky.

Josy 25-02-2013 11:29 AM

I think I have only ever bought one, I know some people that buy them every time they are in the shop though and a few weeks ago I was in buying lottery tickets for my partners gran and the woman infront of me bought 28 scratch cards, surely they can't all have been for her?

Ammi 25-02-2013 11:29 AM

..no, I hardly ever do but my dad used to buy them..around 25 or so at a time and he would give them to us all to scratch..if we won anything, we would just exchange them for more and keep going on until we lost lol..it seemed to keep him happy anyway....I read something this morning though that said they still sold them when the big prizes had already been won..?...

Josy 25-02-2013 11:33 AM

Yeah I think they do Ammi, thats why I was wondering if people that bought them checked the website to see what prizes were left.

Niamh. 25-02-2013 11:36 AM

The last time we won a scratch card on the Lotto, we then won €50 on the scratch card, it was great :amazed:

Josy 25-02-2013 11:37 AM

I never even knew you could win a scratch card on the lottery?

Niamh. 25-02-2013 11:38 AM

If you get 3 numbers or something like that, could be the Irish lotto, we do that and the Euro Millions

Jesus. 25-02-2013 11:39 AM

Isn't the Oirish lottery where the winners have to pay the company the prize money?

Josy 25-02-2013 11:39 AM

Yeah it might be that, my mother in law plays the irish lottery.

I call them my retirement plan

AnnieK 25-02-2013 01:14 PM

When I was on maternity leave and having 6 months off work, I bought one most days. I think I as trying to win enough to not go back to work - epic fail. The most I won was £20 and must have spent hundreds. I blame baby brain

My mother in law puts loads on her tree at Christmas and we all choose one in Christmas day.

My OHs friend said he was in a shop one day and the guy in front bought one of those rich for life ones and won £350k. He's my inspiration! I play the Euro though.

thesheriff443 25-02-2013 01:42 PM

scratch card's are are bad new's

arista 25-02-2013 01:52 PM

I have bought the £4Million Cards
3 or 4 times
costing £10 each

Samuel. 25-02-2013 02:03 PM

Yeah I will occasionally buy a scratch card. I think it's the lucky pot one I normally get, where you try to get a line of pictures.

Don't bother checking to see what prizes are left.

Kizzy 25-02-2013 02:04 PM

I put them in the crimbo cards last year, and my nephew gave them in an envelope on their wedding day to guests at the meal.
I have only bought them a handful of times though, someone local to me is an addict as theres usually a trail of them from the shop :(

Smithy 25-02-2013 02:38 PM

I used too, won a tenner a few times but them i stopped winning so stopped buying them

Jessica. 25-02-2013 05:07 PM

I buy them rarely.

reece(: 25-02-2013 05:09 PM

Rarely:)

Benjamin 25-02-2013 05:10 PM

Nope, never buy them.

Mystic Mock 25-02-2013 05:11 PM

I don't but my Mom does.

Gstar 25-02-2013 05:12 PM

I used to be obsessed with buying them, I won quite a lot of times too, my mum always wins.

There was once when I only had £2 and I bought my mum two scratch cards and she won on both of them D:

Cherie 25-02-2013 05:18 PM

I play lottery on line so if I win a a tenner or less, I buy they a scratch card online, never bother checking to see if the money has been won.

Harry! 25-02-2013 06:12 PM

I have never bought a scratchcard before, I have played the lottery many times - no wins though.

Locke. 26-02-2013 05:21 PM

Go through phases of buying a few. Usually win aswell, although not much.

Marcus. 26-02-2013 05:22 PM

no i do not

Me. I Am Salman 26-02-2013 06:06 PM

I've never bought one, is it really that easy to win?

Quite a lot of people I know win on them regularly, small prizes though.

Talking of winning I got a letter today telling me I had won 25 quid in su-duko puzzle (and it was actually someone else that told me the answer) :amazed:

Me. I Am Salman 26-02-2013 06:10 PM

what are the 'small' prizes?

Josy 26-02-2013 06:11 PM

Like prizes under £50

Me. I Am Salman 26-02-2013 06:12 PM

I may buy one then :amazed:

Locke. 26-02-2013 06:14 PM

Not gonna win anything more than a fiver unless you buy a £3+ card

Me. I Am Salman 22-03-2013 01:18 PM

I bought five scratchcards and didn't win, FFS, I blame the people in this thread who keep saying they always win, it was the only reason why I bought it :idc: How the **** can you always win

Vicky. 22-03-2013 01:32 PM

No. I used to buy a lot and only every won £1 on £1 cards, or £2 on £2 cards. So it was utterly pointless. I'm not even totally convinced that 'real' people win the big prizes. I think a lot of them go to plants.

Suze 22-03-2013 02:11 PM

Nope.

One of my sister in laws, quite a while back now won £100, then the following week she won £1000 :o

smeagol 22-03-2013 02:29 PM
