how old are you?

Ammi 18-05-2013 05:00 AM

..no, I hate napping..it makes me feel really groggy when I wake up and also takes the edge off my proper sleep....

lostalex 18-05-2013 05:05 AM

Sleeping in the sun-warmed air is nice though. The air feels so much nicer when you sleep during the day.

Ammi 18-05-2013 05:12 AM

..we don't have sun warmed air in the UK, Alex...will you stop rubbing that in lol...but yeah, I reckon that would feel quite nice....

sorry. :( lol

It is like getting a massage from the sky though. Like the sun is whispering a lullaby in your ear.

..that's actually quite beautiful, Alex..very poetic..for me it would be the central heating drying all the air out so you fell asleep through lack of oxygen...that doesn't have the same ring to it..so that could be why I don't appreciate a nap as much as you do...I am very jealous though, you make it sound perfect...I want to live in your world of whispering suns, Alex....

The Sun blesses certain nations with the siesta. It would be foolish to deny the will of the sun gods. the native peoples of California, and central America, and the mediterranean, we have a natural draw towards the siesta.

It's cultural.

Glenn. 18-05-2013 05:58 AM

I don't tend to nap for an hour. It always ends up a 4/5 hour sleep and like smithy says, I tend to forget where I am and what day it is.

I did it the other day and thought it was the next day.

Ammi 18-05-2013 05:59 AM

..yeah, in all seriousness Alex, the sun and culture is a big factor..I mean it's actually just not practical to be active in the midday sun...

..I'd be interested in what Withano's experience of this is though because it's not the same in African countries, is it..?...yet they're equally as hot..

..I do that all the time Glenn and that's why I hate napping...I wake up so disorientated....and then I can't sleep at night. so it sets a really bad sleeping pattern...

aman201 18-05-2013 06:05 AM

Hate them, i feel like **** when i wake up. Plus, it also fcuks up your actual night sleep.

It was a very nice nap as it goes. It's the waking up not knowing where I was that was the problem.

Basically this, its then annoying because you cant sleep in the night you end up being tired in the afternoon and nap again meaning you will lose more sleep in the night.

lostalex 18-05-2013 06:42 AM

the problem is probably that you don't have a few glasses of wine with dinner. Remember you should have at least 2 glasses of wine with dinner and then you'll sleep well through the night. I read that somewhere, maybe the BBC, but don't quote me.

DrunkerThanMoses 18-05-2013 06:54 AM

Give the money to buy all this wine and sure I will drink more wine :p

Glenn. 18-05-2013 06:56 AM

If thats the case I think you need a new username DTM :joker:

Marc 18-05-2013 06:59 AM

I've started to do them more often now

lostalex 18-05-2013 07:02 AM

you can buy a decent bottle of wine for 6 bucks, and you get 4 glasses per bottle. that's not too expensive.

swinearefine 18-05-2013 07:40 AM

Can't stand naps, they **** with my mind too much. But I'm kind of in a permanent sleep-induced mind**** anyway because I just sleep at random times or go days without it.

Kizzy 18-05-2013 10:13 AM

Beginning to understand the importance of them, read somewhere that just 25mins improves cognitive awareness and helps defend against premature dementia.
Some people just need more sleep than others, my son and I need 8hs at least and my daughter not as much, funnily she was the one who slept in the afternoons as a kid and my son and I didn't, l think all kids up to school age should have a nap after lunch.

Apple202 18-05-2013 10:19 AM

no they're awful

Lee. 18-05-2013 10:22 AM

Catnapping is healthy.. I like a cheeky wee half hour on the couch during the day if I can :)

MTVN 18-05-2013 10:51 AM

Feels like I'm wasting a bit of my day if I have a nap, only have one if it's really necessary like if I'm shattered before I'm supposed to be going out

Cherie 18-05-2013 10:57 AM

Don't like napping in the day. but on holiday it's different find a nice shady corner of the terrace and drift off ... and I walk up fine unlike in the UK when I wake up feeling like death.

Oh and napping to the sound of the sea

I actually hate the beach as I don't go in the water and I hate the feeling of sand on me, but nothing beats dozing off hearing the waves wash up the beach

Harry! 18-05-2013 05:18 PM

I do love having naps they can be so revitalising.

Vanessa 18-05-2013 05:24 PM

I only have naps if i'm off work. I love them.

Ninastar 18-05-2013 05:31 PM

i have a nap every night and then have about 5/6 hours sleep at night

i wake up so much easier in the morning when I do this. i've tried nights where i've gone to bed at 10 with no nap and i can't get up in the morning.

naps <3

Vanessa 18-05-2013 05:36 PM

When i doze off in the afternoon i usually sleep for two hours. :joker:
