If you could be fluent in any language...

..just following on from a conversation with another member, if you could be fluent in any other language, which one would you choose..?...

Kate! 08-08-2013 04:46 AM

The language of lurve babeeee!

Ignore me, I've been up all night, bit crazy ..

Would love to speak Italian Ammi, it sounds so nice when it's spoken.

Kyle 08-08-2013 04:52 AM

Japanese for me, would love to go there, sit in the gardens of the Buddhist monks and watch the cherry blossoms.

Z 08-08-2013 07:26 AM

Being fluent in German would make this last year of my degree easy  but in terms of ideal language, probably Russian - I'm (finally, hooray!) getting to learn it this year, having studied it when I was 17 for a few months, so I'm excited about that.

MTVN 08-08-2013 09:11 AM

Spanish probably, mainly just because it'd be convenient with it being the 2nd most spoken language

Marc 08-08-2013 09:14 AM

French Spanish and Italian.

Niamh. 08-08-2013 09:41 AM

Spanish

Drew. 08-08-2013 12:44 PM

definitely Spanish

Vicky. 08-08-2013 12:46 PM

Spanish. More likely to use that than anything else.

Z 08-08-2013 01:20 PM

I've never been that interested in learning Romance languages... I was good at French at school and I know bits and pieces of Spanish and Italian but I've always preferred harsher languages like German and Russian

Nothing to do with whether they're romance languages or not Spanish is just spoken in a lot more countries than Russian or German is

Z 08-08-2013 01:26 PM

Oh I meant Romance as in the language group lol

I know lol, I just mean it's not the language itself that I like but more that it's more useful than others

Z 08-08-2013 01:36 PM

 Ahhhh my bad! Yeah that's understandable! I've never been that intrigued by those languages but they're all very useful!

I studied it for a year or so about 3 years ago but I gave up, it's too damn difficult. I will eventually study again I guess, it's one of the things I want to do before I die haha. My favourite word is galuboi.

Chuck 08-08-2013 01:58 PM

I'm surprised so many of you would like to be fluent in Spanish when everybody knows it just sounds like a badly spoken Portuguese. :idc:

Kizzy 08-08-2013 01:59 PM

I love the sound of Russian too it's a past life thing... Haha!

Ooooh what does it mean? Yeah there are so many grammar rules blaaah

King Gizzard 08-08-2013 02:15 PM

I suppose Spanish would be the most useful outside of our own language

German and Japanese also

:nono: Not Brazilian Portuguese, that's different. I just want to know ordinary Portuguese. :joker:

Chuck 08-08-2013 02:54 PM

:bored:

Z 08-08-2013 02:54 PM

Chuck is not pleased

Jessica. 08-08-2013 02:55 PM

One time I spent 5 hours downloading Rosetta Stone for Portuguese and when I opened it and cracked it, it turned out to be Brazilian Portuguese, I was upset!

Chuck 08-08-2013 02:56 PM

I can't even say that I don't like the ordinary Portuguese because I can't even understand it.
