ANcelotti was apparently given the choice of who he wanted to keep, and it was between ADM and Ozil - he chose ADM. This is according to the guardian.

It's the crazy thing about deadline day. Not just Arsenal, but the speed at which clubs suddenly reach agreements. Ozil for £40m is a good deal for everyone, and would have been exactly the same 2 weeks ago.
