Off season..what would you do to make TiBB more active...

..there are some great games on TiBB and people do put much effort in to keep it ticking along between BB seasons and all the other reality shows..and lots of smaller 'filler' games as well...but the last few off seasons have been quite quiet..I know some members have college/uni/sixth form etc and just have other things..and busy jobs as well so there isn't always time to come online....

..any suggestions to help make the forum busier ..(well other than the obvious of having Marcus back more..)../attract new members etc..?..

reece(: 04-09-2013 05:28 AM

I'll be trying my best this time, just keep new discussions going.... organise forum events and such? :)

Z 04-09-2013 07:17 AM

I'll keep posting news in Serious Debates, Reece you can cover the wacky polls in Chat and Games, Ammi you keep finding pictures for the threads in General Interests, we'll get Shaun on the case for the Music forum and Locke will bring the Sports forum the popularity it's always deserved... okay, good

Ammi 04-09-2013 07:21 AM

...haha...yes sir, ready for briefing...

..*salute*...

Ammi 04-09-2013 07:22 AM

..oh and also Zee, I am more than just a picture poster..I have depth..:hmph:...

It's just ridiculous isn't it Ammi, they obviously don't know what they're missing out on. My boyish good looks, my roguish charms, my cavalier attitude, I'm a triple threat you know...

(I would never be a mod on here again, far too stressful!)

Have a small club going where you watch and discuss old big brother series together, that could be okay

Benjamin 04-09-2013 11:33 AM

Probably not a lot this time around, lol. My efforts for TiBB seems to dwindling unless I'm running a game.

Kizzy 04-09-2013 11:50 AM

And a debate club too, I remember this being asked before actually.... It didn't end well

I've been drawing up a potential game on and off for a while now, if I can develop the idea to a place I'm happy with I may try and run with it.

I reckon you could cover the BB14 and CBB subforums Kizzy, get some cheeky polls going here, a few debates there... it'd become like a forum family business :D

I really like that idea Jake! And I also like Kizzy's debate club idea! LemonJam and I wanted an RPG subforum in Creative Writing a while ago, we had it all planned out but it never came to fruition. It would be pretty great though I think if we could get one up and running.

BigSister 04-09-2013 02:39 PM

The bb rewatch would be a great idea. ^_^

Z 04-09-2013 02:41 PM

I wish Big Brother was released on DVD or something, I would genuinely buy certain series so I could easily rewatch episodes. Even if it was just the eviction night highlights one they put on, that'd even be enough, that's still hours of entertainment... Launch night, highlights of the week, eviction, highlights, eviction etc all the way to the final...

michael21 04-09-2013 02:42 PM

i like the way this thread about how you would make tibb more active in the off season the idea are good but are already going on like game there are fun but that not a new idea re watching bb is not a new idea it sounds like you all like off season the way it always been

Spoiler:

:hmph::hmph::hmph: :hmph::hmph::hmph:

I dislike thinking of BB off season though haha!
The new health section sounds good, what's RPG?
How about a fight club? Members who have issues could have a gif war

RPG = Role Play Game

Basically it's a form of creative writing; you would have a general topic (e.g. because this is a Big Brother Forum, you would most likely have your RPG subforum be based on Big Brother) and then within that you would create this whole universe, much like an author does... so essentially it's like an online version of writing a soap - you have individuals create a character (or characters) whom they portray in storylines that they plan with other people who are involved in the RPG. So for example say we have a Big Brother RPG and you and I have characters in it; we could have a storyline where our characters try to scale the wall in the garden to escape, and then a third person would maybe be the one who talks us out of it, for example. It's great fun if you're at all into creative writing; you'd need to find a common ground with what people are interested in generally though. The obvious choice would be Big Brother, because this is a Big Brother forum, but it could be anything... I used to be involved in one that was based around a series of teen books about spies, so we had a spy RPG on this forum to discuss it...

There's a forum I use every now and then that has a section called the "Cock Farm" where, instead of banning people, they are limited to only being able to post in the Cock Farm along with other people who've been put in there for arguing or whatever, and they're not allowed to leave until the general consensus from the moderators is that they've learned their lesson  it's pretty funny, it works really well on there because it's a forum for debating and ranting about stuff; don't think it would work on here though

I have seen that before on another forum too, they named it the Zoo and banned members were confined to that section

That sounds amazing very creative, you should definitely do that :D

mizzy25 04-09-2013 03:03 PM

I like the sound of the RPG bit I get very bored come the winter months so I would be interested in something like that. What about a hobbies bit? people could post about their hobbies or suggest new ones etc

Z 04-09-2013 03:08 PM

You'd have like pre-arranged ideas for the overarching theme of your RPG, so in the example of Big Brother, there would be x number of eviction night threads and x number of task threads; and you would basically just decide in advance which characters would be written out based on commitment to the RPG.

Or, if it was about something else, e.g. the spies thing that I mentioned before, you would have a two year timeframe for your cast of characters, so they would have their first year of "study" and their second year of study and then they would "graduate" aka be retired from the RPG and replaced by new characters, so there's plenty of opportunities for new people to join in the RPG and for people to drop out and have others take over control of their characters or finish their "two years" and then not take part again; and you would have pre-arranged incidents that your RPG would be based around... it'd be good if some of the moderators were involved in the RPG because they can easily lock threads once those storylines are wrapped up etc.

I'd really love it if we had one on here, but as I said, LemonJam and I tried to get one going a couple of years ago but the idea stalled...

michael21 04-09-2013 03:09 PM

there only 3 members online at the moment we are all moving around so it look like more

Z 04-09-2013 03:10 PM

Or the RPG could be based on something that already exists, like a TV program or a film, and you would just continue writing stories for characters that already exist... but I prefer starting from scratch because it means anyone can take part, you don't have to have watched the TV show to know what's happening... or you could do half and half, where you take a universe (e.g. LOST) but you insert your own characters into it so you'd only need certain aspects (the island, the smoke monster, perhaps the DHARMA initiative) to carry on with it.

Lets buy a billboard and put 'Join TiBB' on it :amazed:

I have some corkers lined up!

Jake. 04-09-2013 04:59 PM

Greg that sounds brilliant, always been interested in stuff like that!

Z 04-09-2013 05:06 PM

I thought maybe it could just be something simple a bit like a soap opera where it focuses around characters in every day life, so we could maybe have five people portraying a family to begin with and then add in users who can play other families, co-workers, friends of the original family; and there would be someone in charge of giving the OK to proposed storylines - but that role would change every month (for example) so that no one person gets to decide what happens in the RPG for too long...

Jake. 04-09-2013 05:06 PM

Actually sounds wicked!

Jake. 04-09-2013 05:07 PM

I'm actually going to look into starting up a BB club thing now I know some people are interested! Could even have a poll to decide which BB is watched and what not
