Lauren's Condition

I was thinking about Lauren's condition last night. It occurred to me that she looks not unlike some little characters I once saw on Jeremy Kyle who have a condition that causes premature aging.

These people weren't on Jeremy Kyle because they needed DNA tests, far from it. They were on because of the rarity of their condition. Let me show you some examples:

http://www.cbc.ca/gfx/images/news/ph...shley-hegi.jpg

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/image...58_hayley2.jpg

http://wiki.ggc.edu/images/c/c9/P12.jpg

I know what you're thinking, but I haven't just done a shoddy photoshop of Lauren. These are genuine people with a genuine genetic disorder which renders them remarkably similar, facially, to Lauren Harries.

I wonder if Lauren has been tested for this condition and if it would be worthwhile forwarding this message/diagnosis to her family and medical consultant? Certainly food for thought.

I'll do some more research and find out if the symptoms of Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome include finding it difficult to use a toilet correctly

You're ridiculous

T* 06-09-2013 05:44 PM

Ridiculous.

Daffodil 06-09-2013 05:48 PM

I think the premature ageing disease makes people quite short. Lauren is tall and lanky. Very thin though. I think in Lauren's case she might have a dry skin... and God knows what mental troubles she has been through in her life. If she HAS prematurely aged, it is just through a life of troubles. That's what I think anyway :pipe:

That's true. I'm only a self-taught geneticist and very much an amateur, but I think Lauren's version of the condition has somehow left her 'tall gene' intact whilst degrading the 'toilet gene'

Did you get your PHD off Lauren's mom by any chance? :joker:

Self taught geneticist? Are you actually serious or are you just trying to be clever?

reece(: 06-09-2013 07:15 PM

Lauren does not have that condition, don't be absurd.

mr rochester 06-09-2013 07:23 PM

Lauren would look much younger if her mother did not dress her for the era she was Lauren's age. All of her clothes are for little old ladies - nothing trendy and always overdressed. There are few times in the BB house where an evening frock is necessary...Lauren's clothes are mostly octogenarian-style with high heels. All these floaty pink nylon type night ensembles and taffeta cocktail dresses...Jeans and Jack Wills shirts and some decent shoes would knock years off her...

It would be nice to think that maybe BB will do one of those makeover thingies for Lauren when CBB is over.

Mrluvaluva 06-09-2013 07:32 PM

I don't think she suffers from premature ageing. She does suffer from curvature of the spine, and I think she suffers from vitiligo, which causes depigmentation of sections of skin.

I also believe she suffers because some of her family are a bunch of dicks, but she dotes on them.

That would be great for her - if they could straighten her hair and re-style her - I think she would like that and it would show her how she could look with a less old-fashioned way of dressing.

exoticrosebud 07-09-2013 08:42 AM

how do you become a 'self taught geneticist'?...read lots of books and spout claptrap i suppose....who need university degrees......

Daffodil 07-09-2013 08:47 AM

I honestly didn't interpret Deebo's comments as being anything other than a statement of the fact that what they know about genetics has been gleaned from books. I didn't pick up on this 'big-headed' malarkey at all!!!

Verbal 07-09-2013 08:51 AM

Yip this is not offensive in any way at all.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that people with progeria are tiny and remain so for their lifetimes. They also barely make it past 13 years of age.

exoticrosebud 07-09-2013 08:53 AM

i certainly think she has got a medical problem but not the progeria one.....how far has the transgender change actually gone....? it just doesnt seem to look right....and when she was cleaning her face the one day............her eyes.................never seen anything so blood shot....im sure there is definately something wrong with her...hope she gets herself sorted out..

This might just be the single most ridiculous thing I have ever read on the Internet, and probably bordering on illegal.

Cherie 07-09-2013 09:00 AM

Just read some of Deebo's other posts and me thinks he/she is a troll.:xyxwave:

Pincho Paxton 07-09-2013 09:09 AM

Lauren could have messed up her body with her 2 suicide attempts. If they were overdoses then it explains the blood shot eyes etc.

exoticrosebud 07-09-2013 09:25 AM

i really dont know that much about lauren..i must google her.....i remember her being on BOTS few times in the past and desperate to get on the actual show...she seemed quite fiesty and loud but doesnt come across like that on the show now....didnt know she had tried to commit suicide though....

muchadoaboutnothing 07-09-2013 09:55 AM

Lauren does have an illness called Dyspraxia which had been mentioned on her before.
I googled the info which I have pasted below and could explain why Lauren is very often clumsy:

Developmental dyspraxia is an impairment or immaturity of the organisation of movement. It is an immaturity in the way that the brain processes information, which results in messages not being properly or fully transmitted. The term dyspraxia comes from the word praxis, which means 'doing, acting'. Dyspraxia affects the planning of what to do and how to do it. It is associated with problems of perception, language and thought.

Dyspraxia is thought to affect up to ten per cent of the population and up to two per cent severely. Males are four times more likely to be affected than females. Dyspraxia sometimes runs in families.

Other names for dyspraxia include Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (DCD), Perceptuo-Motor Dysfunction, and Motor Learning Difficulties. It used to be known as Minimal Brain Damage and Clumsy Child Syndrome.

cfromhx02 07-09-2013 10:03 AM

F G S She doesn't have a condition. She has a female brain and her conception went wrong to create a male body around that.Check it out F G S almost all transgender people have the brains of the gender they think they are, many studies have shown that, and it is almost universally accepted by the professionals we need to see in the transgender referral process.

It's also becoming widely accepted why our bodies are created wrongly too.It only takes just stress on the father's side just before or at conception to change one of the chromosomes from x to y, which gives us the wrong genitals and as almost all body shaping hormones come from genitals if you have the wrong gentitals created at birth because of that just stress on father's side screwing up one of the chromosomes so it is y rather than x you get the wrong genitals

and threfore the wrong body, but still you can have the brain of the other gender as has been shown so often it's unbelievable, yet so many will not accept it,

although they'll accept all the other people who are created wrongly because of things going wrong at conception IE spinanifida etc.

The lengths some will go to to try and make out we are not the gender we are and will never accept us as such, while they don't bother to read the research which shows so often what I've said above

and keep coming up with one thing after another in order to try and make out what we are is not real

is a disgrace, and they say bigotry and non acceptance of difference does not exist.

cfromhx02 07-09-2013 10:28 AM

Lauren may have Dyspraxia which cause her clumsy movement but she definitely has a spinal problem as her mother told her one of the times outside the house on the catwalk while talking to Emma. That spinal problem may itself be what cause her clumsy movement.

Her looking older than she is facially is just because of maybe bad facial surgery or bad botox injections as because of the bigotry and lack of education about why people are born with the brain of one gender inside the body of another gender IE transgender

(although all we're ever trying to do is make our body match the gender that our brain has also been inside, so if you accept that the gender of the brain is the real gender of anyone then we are not really changing or transitioning our gender we are just making our body match what our gender has always been) but because of such lack of education

and knowledge about us in the general public which in some cases leads to pure bigotry or at least non acceptance of us as we are different and don't appear to have conformed to the gender stereotypes

that's why we only get one op provided after umpteen years of intensive psychiatric interrogation, all the other ops we have to find ourselves which can cost £30 ooo plus.

And in the meantime while we're going through all that psychiatric interrogation and trying to save £30 k plus we of course get abused, surrounded, things hurled at us,

our windows broken, petrol bombs dropped through our letterboxes, beaten up,murdered,

have the highest suicide rate of any group because of all that and still some even when told there is evidence out there to prove what I've said about our brains being the gender that we say we are

and why our bodies are created wrongly because one of our chromosomes is f up at conception giving us x y chromosomes rather than x x which means we have wrong genitals

and as almost all body shaping hormones comes from genitals if they are created wrong of course we then get the wrong body around the brain of the other gender,

no one ever goes to read up on any of that proof which there is a lot of on the internet, instead, they just keep coming up with new things they think of to try

and make out we are not what we say we are,

it's no f wonder Lauren's face looks older than it should because of either poor facial work she has had to save for herself or because of all the stress of it all.

The bigotry we have to face and all the stress of being abused left right

and center some of which is v violent no wonder her face looks old

kate2013 07-09-2013 11:28 AM

It looks like shes got kyphosis, although her mum said its scoliosis. Looks like shes also got vitiligo.

Do you mean Spina Bifida? Whilst I agree with your post, the two are not even slightly comparable. Unless you're suggesting transgender is a disability, you're not are you?

It would appear that that is exactly what is being proposed, equating being born with the wrong genitalia as more or less the same thing as being born with a club foot or a cleft palate, - a disability.

With all due respect, you're not her physician. You can't possibly say what she does or doesn't have. Making a comment like: "she has a female brain and her conception went wrong to create a male body around that", is something that only a qualified specialist with access to her medical history can assert. The only thing we know for certain is she was born with, and still has, male XY chromosomes. That's never going to change. Also, what does "she has a female brain" even mean? Are you suggesting that even though she has the genetic makeup of a male, her brain somehow developed as a a females would? That goes against basic genetic structures, and she would have to have some mutated genetics, or a developmental disorder for that to happen. Again, an assertion that only a qualified specialist with access to her medical history could make. She obviously has health issues, but we really have no idea exactly what the extent of that is. Regarding her sexuality, she could very well just be gay and chooses to identify as a female as it makes the most 'sense' to her. It doesn't necessarily have to be because of a 'condition'.

I read up about Dyspraxia on the net the other day and I was quite convinced with the symptoms that she does have it but of course I didnt know for certain. While I'm sorry she has Dyspraxia it makes no odds to me, I've enjoyed watching her, she's entertained me thats why she is one of my favourites to win. She's been a fab housemate.

I posted the VT to confirm exactly the nature of the illness/condition Lauren has.
Lauren has been a fab Hm and has made me cry laughing .
I didn't think I would like her but I have certainly changed my mind,I do hope she gets what she wants from doing CBB.

I'm sorry Erin, I didn't mean you posted it to make people feel sorry for her. I understand why you posted the VT, and I agree wit you there, she's had me proper laughing out loud too, I love it when a housemate can do that. I hope people won't be mean to her when she gets out of the house but I think she has managed to endear many people to her with just who she is so hopefully her life will become much better on leaving the house. I still find it hard to think how people can be so mean as to go smash her windows just because she's different, isn't that awful.
