I'd imagine it's down to the way you pronounce the letter "Z" rather than how many e's are in the word

That doesn't make a lot of sense, Z in English is pronounced ZED and in America ZEE but it only has one sound in English, now in German, that's a whole different ballgame!

Well, If you pronounce it Zed, I think you'd pronounce the word like Ze-Bra where as if you pronounce it as Zee then you'd pronouce it as Zee-bra. I pronounce it as Zee btw and I'm not American

The initial "Z" has the same sound in both, it is the second letter that sounds different!

I wonder though if the people who voted for Zee-bra call the "Z" Zee or Zed? I think my theory is right :hmph:

Ze-bra, but I've said zee-bra a few times. It must be all the US TV I watch.

I also started saying "literally" a lot so knew I had to stop.

Z 30-09-2013 04:30 PM

You sure you are not American because you also spelt 'realised' the American way.

That's my spell checker, it always does the American spellings :suspect: It's always trying to get me to spell colour and favourite wrong as well :bawling:

fingers 02-10-2013 09:13 AM

Quite a lot of sites use the built-in American spell checker.
