Amazon Prime Air to do Drone Delivering soon

Amazon to Drone Delivering

Yes bring it on Jeff

http://media.skynews.com/media/image...-1-942x530.jpg

[Online retailer Amazon hopes to
have mini drones delivering packages
to customers in just 30 minutes,
its chief executive has claimed.
During a TV appearance in the
United States, Jeff Bezos played
a video showing the tiny robotic
devices, known as octocopters,
which pick up items in small
yellow buckets and whiz
them through the air.
I know this looks like science fiction.
It's not," Mr Bezos told CBS
television's 60 Minutes show.]

Yes Utter Bliss
you go outside it arrives and lands
all faster

Amazon is the Best

Saph 02-12-2013 11:55 AM

what do you do with it though? Does it just drop the parcel on your doorstep and fly off?

King Gizzard 02-12-2013 11:57 AM

so many things that could go wrong/will go wrong, I don't think it's worth it

No you get a phone call it
lands on the ground
leaves your package.

It has multi cameras and a speaker
so they see you get it safe.

Aside from the fact that the novelty will wear off after the first time, there're so many problems with this:

- logistical problems (surely going to take years even after these 5 to iron out delivery problems)
- vandalism (what if some wise-ass tries shooting them out of the sky?)
- replacing human delivery = inevitable loss of jobs
- the cost of it will probably be an increase on current delivery charges
- being filmed and recorded by them to "make sure it's delivered" = unnecessary intrusion

i just don't...why...why is this necessary

back at base a human controls it
if it has a problem

How would it deliver to flats

Ammi 02-12-2013 12:02 PM

..it's not the best of timing to release news about it to think that people would want a helicopter to be coming anywhere near their house...

..hmmmm, rational thinking or not and however 'safe' it's deemed, I can't think that will reassure many people who might be doubtful... in light of what has just happened...

Have some faith

Tests give them all the Data

Marsh. 02-12-2013 01:04 PM

Cue the lawsuits when people begin dying from being smacked on the head from loose DVDs and that glass vase some housewife couldn't wait 24 hours for.

No way
tested for a year first
corrects all fears.

Nothing is loose
Testing is clever

Just as planes are not meant to crash, but some do. Things go wrong, nothing is flawless.

Just seems like a pointless development. There's no need for them.

This is cool, but even when/if it happens, doubt i'll use it.
Argos have a similar service where they ship an item to you from store asap and it can cost up to £50 on some items.
This will be as, if not more expensive. Nice option, but will be too expensive.

Marsh. 03-12-2013 01:56 AM

And what exactly do you do with the plastic box? Is it recyclable, returnable?

What happens if it's left in the garden and stolen?
