7/7 bombings
This is a bit of a random thread it just came on my mind
What were you doing at the time? How did you find out, and what was your reaction I wasn't impacted much as I would be now due to being young but it was still really shocking.. I just remember going home from school early and watching it all on the news and being scared |
We had a charity walk on at school and we all dressed up as some kind of sports person and most of us were just sat around doing nothing on the fields all day and one of the teachers told us all and it was basically the only conversation going round school because people were like "omfg i got a relative in London i hope their ok" even though they were nowhere near the bombings, was really annoying
|
Honestly didn't impact on me at all, don't remember where I was on that day or feeling anything about it at all, I think because it wasn't as visually shocking as 9/11 and nobody died did they? I honestly don't remember, London seems like an alien place to me, I don't feel like I live in the same country as people who live in London
Edit: Okay that was shockingly ignorant of me, 52 people died apparently... I honestly don't remember, I couldn't have even told you which year it happened, just that it was the 7th of July some time in the 2000s... |
I was at work, it was really shocking to later find out one of the bombers lived on the same road in Leeds I had once...
That sent chills, |
52 people died

I think I was on here when the news broke. I had the telly on.
It was the day after it was announced that London had won the Olympics iirc I remember my dad phoning me for something and telling him 'that london had been bombed', literally minutes after it broke. EDIT: I wasn't on here when it broke because it happened in 2005. I was on my computer though |
Was in School during break time. Rumours started going around and then a Teacher confirmed it to us. Was absolute chaos at the time and no one even bothered going to lesson when the bell rang. Took a good 30mins or so for Teachers to calm the situation, get people off phones and move everyone back in.
There was some dickhead too who was spreading rumours and every other minute she came up with a new place that got bombed, which everyone was believing and worrying about as some stated places were close to where they lived. Mad times man. |

I remember all the confusion and I phoned a couple of mates that lived in London too make sure they were fine, because it was pretty widespread.

Wow I feel really ****ty, all these years I guess I just thought the 7/7 bombings were a botched attempt that caused a bit of damage and some people were injured but nobody died :/ |
I remember the day 9/11 happened more clearer than then the 7/7 bombings even though 9/11 was so long ago
|
Don't remember 9/11 in the slightest. I was like 8 and probably gave zero ****s at the time. I was probably telling mum to put it on Cartoons.

Greg, there was a terrorist attack at Glasgow airport where no one died (except the terrorists)

I was on holiday, in a caravan in Bournmouth, just watching the TV when the news came on.

I never knew 50+ people died until now. I figured it was a small thing. I don't think I thought much of it because I seem to remember the news about it ALWAYS bringing up 9/11..which kind of overshadows it |
I think its also down to the fact that really, 7/7 didn't affect day to day life in the UK, whereas 9/11 affected day to day life in the whole world.
|
It wasn't really publicised here much at all, so I have never really thought about it much.

Just remember walking down the school corridor when someone said "apparently a bomb went off in London today" or something like that, didn't really grasp the seriousness of it then and was just blaming the French for doing it because we'd been given the Olympics over them the day before
|
I was in primary school and the R.E teacher came into our class crying and made us all do a a prayer

I remember being 8/9 and my class being told by our teacher.
Somebody in the other class lost their uncle due to the bombing. It's such a shame because they used to live in my street and they were a really nice family. |
My mum knew one of the victim's mum through a mutual friend I think, although not very much
|
I was in hospital in London and many of the nurses and doctors went to help.
|
I was 7 at the tine, and I remember getting to leave school early and going round to my nans house and just watching it on the TV. I was really shocked and worried, because my aunt was living in London at the time.
|
My husband - not my husband at the time - was serving in Iraq and called me to make sure I was okay. It was the first I'd heard about it. It seemed strange, him worrying about me.
|
Before I went to school I saw something on the news about some problems in London. I was on half a day so when I came back was watching the news, really shocked. I was 14 at the time
I don't remember 9/11 really |
7/7 i was in majorca and it was on tv there the engliish speaking channels i mean and I was kinda worried then I found out someone on my grans street their wife had died on the bus bombing
9/11 I wasnt really sure as I was only nearly 14 at the time but was more worried about my gran and aunty as they were going to florida that day. They had to land in canada. greg maybe your thinking about the attempted bombings 2 weeks later the same thing 3 tubes and a bus but nobody was killed there |
I was actually down in Matlock near Derbyshire for a week's holiday with my family. Was a bit young to really remember my proper reaction
