Can you taste the difference?

When it comes to bottled water?

I honestly don't get why there's so many different types, I only drink volvic and evian cause the big bottles are always £1 but I can't taste any difference at all :conf2:

Glenn. 15-02-2014 11:01 PM

I don't drink bottled water :idc:

Benjamin 15-02-2014 11:01 PM

None at all

Kate! 15-02-2014 11:03 PM

Nope.

GypsyGoth 15-02-2014 11:05 PM

Nope, but I think water is meant to be pretty tasteless, so in a way that means the bottled water companies have got it right.

Smithy 15-02-2014 11:06 PM

Tap water tastes different :hmph: (only slightly though)

joeysteele 15-02-2014 11:08 PM

I never drink bottled water unless I have bottled it myself from the tap. I know when I am given bought bottled water.
I personally would never buy it because I don't like the idea of it on the shop and store shelves, not refrigerated even.

Glenn. 15-02-2014 11:11 PM

Water is tasteless though Smithy :suspect:

MTVN 15-02-2014 11:17 PM

Yes, I definitely think there's a difference between the better brands like buxton and evian and the cheaper ones like the Iceni bottle water, and tap water is generally quite noticeably worse imo

Evian I think is the best

Drew. 15-02-2014 11:19 PM

The more expensive bottles of water taste purer and are more refreshing than some of the cheaper ones.

Shaun 15-02-2014 11:24 PM

can only taste the difference between tap water and filtered water. But that's because south-west water is quite hard.

Livia 15-02-2014 11:30 PM

I can't tell the difference. I hate fizzy water though... it tastes like some kind of indigestion remedy.

Kate! 15-02-2014 11:32 PM

I quite like the flavoured waters. Lemon n lime or strawberry.

The worst thing is when you open a bottle of water and half down it then you realise it's fizzy and gag.

Some very misleading water bottle labels out there :nono:

Do you find lemon and lime flavoured water makes your mouth dry? Or is it just me?

Vicky. 15-02-2014 11:36 PM

Cant tell the difference, tap water tastes exactly the same as bottled water too if you leave the tap running for 20 secs or so first.

HATE flavoured waters and fizzy water with a passion

Benjamin 15-02-2014 11:36 PM

Sparkling water is just vile.

Sophiee 16-02-2014 01:04 AM

I always think bottled water tastes nicer than tap water but if I weren't to know which was which one then I probably wouldn't know, it's just the imagination. and I love sparkling water :D.

Jords 16-02-2014 01:53 AM

Nope.

I like flavoured water and fizzy water too.

This is juiced but >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It can do yes, it's probs the citrusy taste? Maybe. The strawberry ones are sweeter. Not keen on the peach ones.

Tom4784 16-02-2014 02:48 AM

Not really, I do like flavoured water though. Peach flavoured Volvic is divine.

Niamh. 17-02-2014 09:08 AM

No, if I'm buying bottled water I always go for the cheapest own brand one but I can taste the difference between bottled water and the tap water from home, and I prefer the tap water

Jake. 17-02-2014 09:31 AM

Some taste like plastic

Jessica. 17-02-2014 12:19 PM

Yes, I think all of them taste quite different, if you get a glass of tap water and buy a Tesco every day value water and a bottle of Evian and did a blind folded taste test it would be extremely easy to tell which is which.

lostalex 17-02-2014 12:21 PM

all bottled water tastes like plastic to me. I don't touch the stuff.

give me tap any day of the week.

Don't those supermarkets basically just use tap water for their really cheap value stuff

No, they're not allowed to do that, I remember there was a scandal about ASDA doing that last year or something.

Jesus. 17-02-2014 12:32 PM

Tell you what I have noticed, that water out of the bathroom tap tastes better than water out of the kitchen tap. :suspect:

Yeah that was the story about Asda that I'd been thinking of, thought it might have just been general practice

Marc 17-02-2014 12:34 PM

I pray over my water and it tastes excellent

My mum always told me not to drink out of the bathroom tap. I have no idea why but she said if I wanted a drink I had to get it from downstairs. I think she was just being mean and making me run up and downstairs.

Jessica. 17-02-2014 12:39 PM

Bathroom water is recycled from the shower/bath/sink, it's not supposed to be for drinking.

Jesus. 17-02-2014 12:47 PM

That's not the case any more, unless you've still got an old set up storage tank without a combination boiler. I had a new boiler fairly recently and I asked them this exact question because bathroom tap has always tasted better than kitchen tap water to me.

Marc 17-02-2014 12:48 PM

I drink from all taps, puddles, drainpipes etc

lostalex 17-02-2014 12:50 PM

i like water to have a slightly metallic taste.

speaking of water, remember when people used to drink from water fountains? whatever happened to water fountains?? i haven't seen a water fountain in ages. like since the 90's. there used to be water fountains everywhere, and people would drink from them, sometimes there'd even be a line to drink from a water fountain.

We have a water tank in the attic, that's where our bathromm tap water comes from

Bathroom tap water isn't for drinking if you are in a house that still has a storage tank.

I was always told the same Annie but I think most houses have updated boilers these days and don't use storage tanks.

Josy 17-02-2014 12:55 PM

I still wouldn't drink from the bathroom tap though, just out of habit.

And suddenly that fight for independence has left you without clean water in your bathroom :hehe:

Come back to the motherland and we'll sort your boilers out for you.
