Do people smile back at you?
I get a lot of smiles back from strangers on a daily basis, I think its because I smile and have a friendly face:shocked:, how do you do on the smile front?
I get cross if I smile at someone and they can't be bothered to smile back.
I think it depends where you live as to how smiley people are. |

Outside of work I tend not to smile at people and if someone smiled at me randomly, I would ignore them, and then worry what they were smiling at.
I have a natural scowl and am more likely to get "cheer up" than a smile. The ones who say that go immediately onto "THE LIST"

I think if someone smiles @ u, u cant help but smile back. Im normally in a massive rush for no apparent reason so I barely notice people like let alone if they are smiling @ me or not.
I actually make a conscious effort to smile more now, people kept thinking I was Polish.

i always smile - the problem is - the receiver run in fear.

I think Northerners are more friendly. Most people smile and say hi where I live but when I visit my brother down south people look at you as if you are mad if you smile at them

Yeah I'm always smiling at elderly people whenever I'm out and about around my parents' house as it's quite an elderly residential area (I think my brother and I might still be the youngest people living on the street and we're 22 and 19 respectively) and always get smiles back. I tend to smile at older people more. Or if I'm in Glasgow and on the subway and someone's got a baby on their lap but I think most people do that too.

Lots of people smile when you have dogs, especially a puppy.
if people smile at me I smile back because I'm not rude
People don't smile in London on the tube ... even if you stare at them and cross your eyes, you can feel them actively not looking at you
I smile at people all the time. And I'm from the south! Imagine...
I only smile to family and friends.
Seriously though how can you just ignore someone if they smile at you

most of the time. I think it's common decency to smile back at someone if they smile at you first, it's awful if they don't, makes them appear to look extremely rude.
The idea of just smiling at someone without any other interaction seems a bit weird to me, at least give a "morning" or "lovely weather" with it, if someone was just staring at me smiling I'd think they were looking at someone else or probably start worrying that they were taking the piss
If someone smiles at me I will smile back to be nice but wonder why they're smiling at me.

I never really look at people long enough to notice if they smile or not. Too busy in my own thoughts. Everyone else seems to be too, or on the phone.
When I walk to my bus stop I tend to bump into the same people, so I always smile at them just so there's a pleasant start to their morning as well as my own.
There are younger people walking to the senior school nearby my bus stop, but they always look grouchy so I never really bother smiling at them. |
