Advice me on some books to read that i will love
 

I'm not a big reader, unless the book really grips me. Like when i read the Da Vinci Code. Loved that. Read it in a couple of hours on my plane to Italy. :shocked:
I also liked 50 Shades, funnily enough.
Which books do you think i should read that i will enjoy? I never know which ones to read and i thought i'd ask you lot, who seem to know your books. :hugesmile:

The Count of Monte Cristo

I heard about that and i saw the movie. It's brilliant! Is the book any different?

..Breakfast at Tiffany's is a great read, Vanessa..or basically most things by Truman Capote..

That sounds very interesting, Ammi thanks. How is the movie different from the book? I often wonder these things.

...hmmm, the character in the movie is not nearly so complex and much 'lighter' but I think in the time it was made, that kind of movie was much more popular and saleable...although there are some aspects of Holly's character that do come across in the movie....I have to say on the whole, whenever I have read a book, I don't think the movie version of it has quite been as good but there is much more scope in a book to relay characters more...

That sounds like a book i would enjoy. I haven't read any Truman Capote books. I only know about the movie, because i love Philip Seymour Hoffman. :lovedup: Are there many of those books?

idk what to recommend off the back of 50 Shades/ The Da Vinci Code because I haven't read either and they seem awful :tongue:

I have the sequels as well. I'll read them when i'm in that kind of mood. :joker:

If you are not already with one, join a library, then you can try different authors and if you don't like them you don't lose out. Alternatively if you invest in a Kindle it lets you read the first chapter for free so you can decide if you like it or not. Reading is very subjective. I am currently working my way though the Karin Slaughter books, Crime Fiction.

Murders with a bit of gore!, and then the investigation
, the story is well put together and keeps you hooked right until the end. I'm reading Criminal at the moment

Wow! I think i'd love that! My mum used to love Grisham, so i want to read his books as well. Do you like him? :)

You can't go wrong with a John Grisham, have read all his books and am always waiting on the next one to be published :amazed:

No, but i've seen some of the movies. I like The Client and i've been told that the book is wonderful. I so want to read that one. :flutter:

Plenty to choose from! I always find if I have read a book, the movie is a bit of a let down, but maybe that is just me!

Grisham book usually make amazing movies. Same goes with Steven King, who i love! Do you like his books? I want to read them, but they look a bit scary. :joker:

If you liked the Da Vinci code you could read Dan Brown's other stuff if you haven't already, Angel and Demons is the one that came before it and I think it was better, or his Deception Point and Digital Fortress were both pretty good

Yes, that was on January when i met him. I also bumped into him last week. He's amazing! :lovedup: Whih contemporary writers do you like? I only know Grisham.

If you like psychological crime thrillers Ness, try Sophie Hannah's books.

Dorothy Koomson is another writer I'd absolutely recommend, she wrote the Ice Cream Girls, recent adapted for TV. They changed the ending in the TV adaptation, wish they hadn't as it was much better in the book.

I don't really read fiction, but I did read the body farm on holiday years ago, when there wasn't much to do, and I thought it was a really good book, so if you're into crime thrillers then I would definitely recommend Patricia Cornwell.

I think id' love that. Murder mysteries and investigations really interest me. Her books have been turned into tv shows, haven't they?

I have no idea. I just remember that it kept me hooked, and the fact it was about a serial killer set in Quebec as opposed to London/US, made it interesting.

50 Shades Of Grey

I actually loved that book. It's the kinky aspect i loved. Mum would have been horrified though. Now my brother in law wants to read it. I told him : no you don't! :laugh2:
