Truthfully; Do you give money to beggars on the street?

Tbh, i do sometimes.
Purely cause of my religious beliefs and karma etc.

My religious beliefs meaning; that the beggar could be sometype of angel that god sent from heaven to test my personality, it sounds abit daft i know but its true imo.

Kazanne 21-05-2014 11:05 AM

Yes always, especially if they have a dog or play and instrument, lol

Crimson Dynamo 21-05-2014 11:05 AM

Jemal 21-05-2014 11:06 AM

Ramsay 21-05-2014 11:08 AM

Crimson Dynamo 21-05-2014 11:09 AM

Its a mugs game

Crimson Dynamo 21-05-2014 11:09 AM

If god wants to test your personality he will use buzzfeed and not some crack head

Josy 21-05-2014 11:10 AM

Not all of them, I tend to ignore those ones you see that are wearing the latest nike air max trainers and have a can or two of cider sat beside them.

There's a big issue guy outside aldis, he's been there for years and I always give him the quid from my trolley, I don't bother taking the big issue though.

Me. I Am Salman 21-05-2014 11:10 AM

Yes, once I gave a bag of hot cod bites from tesco lol

InOne 21-05-2014 11:14 AM

Not usually because a lot of them aren't homeless. And if they were there's plenty of help to get them a bed for a night if they need it. You can't sit down for 5 mins in my city without someone coming up for money or a cig so I guess it has made me quite hardened to it. I've volunteered in a few places where I've seen a lot of people like that throw help away or just simply aren't interested.

Ramsay 21-05-2014 11:14 AM

Lately some have been begging right beside my ATM. and she'd be like ''HELLO?'' really loud when people take out their money. that kind of ****e can **** off

Jemal 21-05-2014 11:15 AM

What city you from? ^
Directed at inone..
Stupid karl got in the way

Tom4784 21-05-2014 11:15 AM

Not often. Most of the time you can tell the money that you give to them will go towards their next fix.

Apple202 21-05-2014 11:16 AM

no not really

Omg it's the same in the town nearest to us and guess what the local council decided to do? build benches in a seating area right outside the bank/atm that just 100% made it even worse so they all hang around there now waiting to scrounge money.

beggers have sold out D:

Ammi 21-05-2014 11:23 AM

..yeah sometimes and like Josy to the Big Issue guy ..my local town is quite small and there aren't really many 'beggars' but if I'm on holiday etc, I tend to take stuff for the children rather than give money...

Brother Leon 21-05-2014 11:23 AM

Rarely. I'll give them food If I have some though. There is one outside a local McDonalds..I usually get an extra chips and give it to him.

Livia 21-05-2014 11:25 AM

Sometimes, I don't like to do it because I don't want them spending money on drugs or drink. I know that sounds sanctimonious... but I do support Shelter and I buy a Big Issue regularly. I think it's shameful that one of the richest countries in the world has people living and sleeping rough.

MTVN 21-05-2014 11:26 AM

Nah, not because I have any principle against it or what they'd spend their money on etc. but just because I'm too cheap to spare with any change really

Jemal 21-05-2014 11:31 AM

Here in las vegas nevada there alot of people sleeping rough aswell in the streets.
Its a shame, a place like this filled with so much money still cant accomadate some.

Are you really in Las Vegas, Jemal?

Glenn. 21-05-2014 11:37 AM

Ones with dogs I do. I buy dog food for then too /saint

Jay. 21-05-2014 11:37 AM

Outside of my college that are loads of them, I literally have no money though, so I always have to say no. I feel bad, but I used to do charity work so I'm not all that bad.

mizzy25 21-05-2014 11:48 AM

No never

Vicky. 21-05-2014 12:02 PM

No but if I am pissed I have been known to buy a coffee/sandwich etc for them.

I did used to give to one guy quite regularly though//got to know him through work (he was ALWAYS outside my workplace when I was waiting to go home)

I know of people though..and this sounds ridiculous but its true...who sit on the street to get money then go home after hitting a certain target. 2 people I 'know' do this. Kinda sours my views on giving cash tbh...hence giving food/drink instead

joeysteele 21-05-2014 12:06 PM

Yes I do, I feel very fortunate in my life and for whatever reasons these individuals find themselves on the streets,I decide for myself not to make any judgements and when I come across them I will hand them some funds.

I have also taken them for a meal or got a takeaway and had one with them, talked to them a fair bit and the life stories are fascinating.

I am aware that I never know, one day I could be on the streets for any reason/s,so I feel a duty, only speaking for myself, to reach out to others who appear to be and may well be far less fortunate than I am.
