What could have changed with the layout?

Now, from what we've heard there is apparently minimal change in the layout. So, I took last years layout and changed it around a little. It looks similar but if you move a few walls around you can potentially get a different look.

So here is the 2013 layout:

And then my modified layout:

Anybody else have any ideas?

Basically I just edited the layout from last year to what could potentially happen with it this year.

jackc1806 28-05-2014 06:19 PM

Looks life they'll go back to the BB13 format with the kitchen to the side of the living area and the bedroom outside

armand.kay 28-05-2014 06:31 PM

thats basically bb13

Yup. Kind of shows you how limited they are

Henry2014 28-05-2014 11:00 PM

stairs area's too long and thin. But thanks for visualising it like this, really helpful, at least for me, to see the space like this and try and guess!!

armand.kay 28-05-2014 11:12 PM

Why did they do that complete rebuild for bb9 ever since then they haven't really changed up the house much.

Drew. 28-05-2014 11:16 PM

Probably prefer your new layout design to last years.

Marsh. 28-05-2014 11:17 PM

They need a new location IMO.

I wouldn't mind jarond's lay out. Looking at the plan it doesn't look like much has changed but if they were to actually do something like this and have the stairs closed off it wold look very different especially with the dr moving.

Glenn. 28-05-2014 11:27 PM

This is what I just mocked up. Leaving the task room and DR where they are and shuffling everything else.

Yeah, i know, i did it before bb14 tbh...

jackc1806 28-05-2014 11:51 PM

Safe house isn't big enough to be a bedroom.. I've been in there :p

Glenn. 28-05-2014 11:51 PM

The BB5 bedroom wasn't massive either. Could still work

It could, but it'd be really hard to fit at the least 8 double beds in there. We'll see though, maybe without the shower and baths it could be big enough

We won't know til later in the week :(

Henry2014 28-05-2014 11:56 PM

BRING BACK THE DIARY ROOM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LOUNGE!! Haven't seen it there since BB8 (2007)...?

The Safehouse was literally a big room for 3 beds. They could of gone down that entire side of the house, taking out the gym etc.

Looks possible from drone photos!

I guess. It would be different, BB12,13 and 14 have had big bedrooms. Would be a nice change and fit in with the power theme

armand.kay 29-05-2014 12:21 AM

Maybe the safe house could be the living room.

What you've highlighted perfectly there for all the people moaning about the lack of change this year is if they did do something more substantial all they'd effectively be doing is dropping a layout they'd used for a year in favour of something which was used for a decade or so before that.

When you actually think about it this year C5 have moved the bedroom, bathroom and pool - and essentially that's the sort of thing C4 were doing most years anyway. They moved the odd wall here and there but often the changes made weren't as big as they appeared.

It's one of the few things C5 have got right IMO - I quite like all their house designs and like that they're not changing it for the sake of it, but also not keeping the same design year after year. The only thing I'd fault with the current layout is how the task room seems to take up half the house - personally I'd rather they put the bedroom back in the main house and then expanded the garden.

Marsh. 08-06-2014 03:53 PM

Of course it's only moving a couple of walls but channel 4 made more substantial changes where it felt like a completely different house rather than redecorating the same one.

But I don't mind the lack of layout change this year because the style of the house has changed so much. Unlike BB12 - 13 which felt like the same place with a lick of paint and some glitter.
