Unclean Homes
 

This may sound very shallow of me, but I had a close friend that I loved very much. We were inseprable for quite a while until I went to her house one day and her home was very unclean, I don't just mean untidy but sticky floor, moldy plates in the kitchen, dust in the bath unclean. I distanced myself from her because I pride myself in keeping myself clean and my personal space extremely tidy.

What are your views on unclean/messy homes?

No, not at all. (I wouldn't be friends with a smelly person, but that's a different issue).

Well if she kept herself clean and didn't smell and stuff what was the issue with being friends with her? :shrug:

I don't really care, mine's pretty clean and tidy but why would I or anyone stop being friends with someone because their house is messy?

Unless you want to live with them I don't see the issue

I am not obsessive but keep a clean house and never leave dishes overnight or after meals. A daily hoover and the like. with brats its a full time fecking job.

I hate dirty rooms. I feel obliged to clean them if they are.

Reminds me of the episode of Friends when Monica couldn't sleep thinking about that woman's dirty apartment so offered to clean it. :joker:

You value the cleanliness of someone else's house that you may see once every so often over their friendship itself? Maybe it's just me but that's flawed logic

Nope, but me distancing myself has stopped that from happening.

I get the urge to tidy and clean messy homes,lol,but only because I enjoy doing it,one of my friends lives like a tramp but she's lovely so would never not be friends because of it,I befriended her,not her house

I hate them and I wouldn't use there cutlery lol

But It wouldn't affect the friendship

Dirty/uncleanliness is completely different to mess.

Mess is fine I suppose if that just the way you are, I'm not like that.

There is no excuse for dirtiness.

In the opinions of most sane and rational people that value their friends more than their houses I'd imagine :flutter:

If her house was messy I could deal with that, it's just a lifestyle choice, but it was a really dirty, filthy house.

I don't think it would affect my friendship with somebody if their house was dirty, although it is horrible. it wouldn't bother me at all if it was just messy though.

it's a rule that everybody takes their shoes off as they enter in my house :idc:.

if i went to someones house and they said "oh would you mind taking off your shoes " i would leave

I think it's rude not to take your shoes off when you enter people's homes. It's a sign of respect if anything.

It is a bit odd. If she herself was clean and presentable and you rarely ever went to her house why would you give up the friendship?

Well if we'd carried on being close I would've been invited a lot more, so it would have been a big issue...

Someone having a vile house wouldnt stop me being friends with them tbh. I would just find any excuse possible to avoid going to their place.

Yes...you don't live there, why do you care? Why you would effectively break off a friendship with someone and lose out on so many benefits like someone to call on when you're in need of help or advice, someone to go out with, someone you share stuff in common with etc etc just because you don't like the state of their house is beyond me. Surely you distance yourself from people that are rude, self-obsessed, nasty, untrustworthy...the usual things, not because of their house. Like...just don't go in it? Make excuses, not end a friendship :shrug:
