Is Jale suffering from Stockholm syndrome?

Stockholm syndrome, or capture-bonding, is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending and identifying with them. These feelings are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims, who essentially mistake a lack of abuse from their captors for an act of kindness

i don't think BB has captured her just yet - she can walk when she wants. most hostages can not.

I was more referring to her now begin friend with her former abusers namely Helen and crew.

waterhog 29-06-2014 03:09 PM

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh i beg your pardon. i think jale might be a bit wiser - keeping her cards close to her chest. then again she maybe making friends out of weakness and fear from them. so your point is adding up. thanks i never saw that.

jet 29-06-2014 03:19 PM

She's very grateful and appreciative that they very kindly aren't mocking her anymore.

Mystic Mock 29-06-2014 03:20 PM

Erm the last time I checked Jale wasn't really in that much emotional torture to get that.

If being called a slug and a maggot and sitting within earshot while people laughed at her didn't bother her then she's a very strange person indeed. She may not have been in 'emotional torture' as you dramatically put it, but she must have felt hurt and ostracized.
But it is good of them to have stopped it  and she's happy about that.

She is not being held captive by anybody. The trivialising of serious things on here over this television show borders on offensive sometimes.

Are you confusing the Bond Villain Electra King with Jale?
One is a big brother housemate the other is a oil tycoon villain.

Vicky. 29-06-2014 05:59 PM

OMG :laugh2:

No, shes just suffering with 'I wanna be with the cool kids' syndrome. I guess theres an element of if she licks their arses, they are less likely to pick at her.

Natalie. 29-06-2014 06:27 PM

Oh yeah, it's a possibility

No she just has enough life experience so that when people have a go at her, or are rude to her - as they have been - she just sees the bigger picture and doesn't get bogged down in the negativity. Fighting back only makes you look as bad as them.

She has 2 important qualities that make her a great HM and a decent person all round :

1. She can rise above the BS and see it for what it is
2. She has patience and understanding for people and all their faults

She is by no means weak, she just knows when she is in the right and when they are in the wrong - and all you have to do then is wait for them to f- themselves up.

Leave nasty people to dig their own pits - they will fall in soon enough.

And she is right! Look at Helen and Ash getting booed. If Jale had argued back - she'd be getting booed too!

Jale just left them to dig their own pits and let the public decide.

Jim Davidson did the same with Linda.

I have done it myself with aggressive people in my life and it works every time.

Then sure enough they will be end up feeling guilty and see you for the decent person you are and they will eventually respect you all the more for being cool about it.

That's why they are being nice to her now. They genuinely feel bad about being nasty to her. If she had argued back then they would not feel guilty.

Her being nice to them is actually more powerful than her fighting back!

Most of the comments in this thread are ridiculous; for or against.

Seriously, think about the situation. You in the house with people, then don't understand you and call you a few names. They realize they were work, start talking to you politely again, then apologize and people move on. Some of the events that occur in that house are frozen in time by people on here. They are extremely small moments when you are in that house 24/7.

Daffodil 29-06-2014 07:50 PM

She is simply on a high from hearing the cheers for her every week and for not being up for eviction this week.

AarynGriesfan 29-06-2014 09:49 PM

Only a matter of time till Helen ruins her popularity as well. Once she starts hearing the boos she will go back to hating that group again.
