Germany deserve it on the whole. Argentina may be the least deserving winners for a long time.

King Gizzard 11-07-2014 07:23 PM

I want Germany but would be happy with Argentina winning for Messi. So I'm just looking forward to a (hopefully) good game

Brother Leon 11-07-2014 07:50 PM

Just realised Germany is my sweepstake on here. Looks like I will have to deffo back the German twats.

King Gizzard 12-07-2014 10:01 PM

We will have a winner in less than 24 hours ladies and gents. I'm feeling an Argentina win today

Brother Leon 12-07-2014 10:31 PM

Germany to hopefully prevent a footballing catastrophe. Worse than Greece Euro 2004 if they win.

King Gizzard 12-07-2014 10:32 PM

wouldn't go that far

Brother Leon 12-07-2014 10:34 PM

They haven't had one interesting match throughout. Considering they have a team of Messi,Aguero,Lavezzi,Di Maria,Higuain etc then it's terrible. Greece at least had the underdog story to make them interesting.

Alf 12-07-2014 11:11 PM

I just hope both teams go to win it and it's a fast open game, as opposed to trying not to lose it and a boring keep possession fest.

Messi and Klose are the match winners for each team, I'd expect one of them to take the headlines.

I went with Argentina from the start and I'm not gonna change my mind, but I'd definitely make Germany favourites and they look a much better team then Argentina, but this is a one off game and Argentina have the ultimate player on their team.

Calderyon 12-07-2014 11:19 PM

Hopefully Germans win it and end this tournament on a high note. Argentina should thank all of their defenders and their goalie that they have got this far, cause the offense as a whole has been quite average (apart from maybe Messi). With an attack like that, they should have teared through all of their opponents easily.

King Gizzard 12-07-2014 11:20 PM

Muller probably the only thing standing in the way of James being player of the tournament

Or if Messi has a ridiculous match he might stand a chance

Alf 13-07-2014 03:10 PM

Which channel you watching it on?

I'm watching the build up on BBC because I prefer Lineker to Chiles and it's Hansen's final broadcast, but I might switch over to ITV for the game because Clive Tyldesley is a better match caller than Guy Mowbray.

Brother Leon 13-07-2014 03:18 PM

BBC

Will tune into ITV for the opening theme song one last time though.

Locke. 13-07-2014 03:22 PM

I've liked ITV's coverage better but I'll probably watch on BBC cos it's Hansen's final show

Ramsay 13-07-2014 03:23 PM

Germany deserve it far more

Got a feeling it's going to be Messi's day. Can just imagine the comparisons to Maradona the GOAT too.

Black Dagger 13-07-2014 05:41 PM

Vamos Argentina!

Germany would warrant the victory due to them playing amazing football all tournament. But I really want Aguero, Zaba and Demichelis to be lifting that trophy, what a sight it would be.

Shaun 13-07-2014 06:04 PM

Argies - Romero; Zabaleta, Demichelis, Garay, Rojo; Pérez, Mascherano, Biglia, Lavezzi; Higuaín, Messi

Germany vs Argentina -> Germany wins the World Cup

GER: Their road to the final: On the Group stage Germany crushed Portugal by 4-1, tied 2-2 with Ghana and got a 1-0 win against USA thus finishing the group in the pole position with 7 points. On the last 16 they had a hard fought 2-1 victory after extra time against the Algerians. On quarterfinals they completely freezed France by 1-0 and on the semifinals they absolutely obliterated and saddened the hosts Brazil by 7 goals to 1.

Germans have arguably the best offensive side of the tournament. They also have a great defense, wall worthy goalkeeping and tactically intelligent coaching. They also have superior ball control, very effective counterattack and an ability to slow the game speed to a minimum, thus gaining full control on how the game will go.

What Germany has to do is straight of the bat gain full control through ball possession and not let Argentina get it from them. They also need to come at the Argies with all they have got straight after the whistle blows, hammer their defense, creating opportunity after opportunity, maybe get an early goal and force the Argentinians to attack and possibly leave their defense in trouble.

ARG: Their road to the final: On the Group stage Argentina got a 2-1 victory against Bosnia, a 1-0 win against Iran and a 3-2 victory against Nigeria, finishing the group with a perfect record of 9 points. On the last 16 they got through Switzerland with a 1-0 victory. On the quarters they beat Belgium by 1-0 also and on the semifinals they were better than Netherlands on the penalties by 4-2.

Argentina have arguably the best defensive play of the tournament and at least second best goal keeping, having only allowed 3 goals in 6 games and not allowed any goals on the knock out stage, which is quite an impressive achievement.

If Argentina want to win they need to utilize strengths, defend and defend their hearts out and frustrate the Germans enough to possibly make them lose control thus possibly get them make careless mistakes on their defensive play, leading to unnecessary fouls, that leading to free kicks and possibly even penalty kicks. If Argentina can somehow upset and make the Germans lose their calm and cool posture, making them angry and little panicky, they are close to gaining the ultimate glory.

Ultimately it´s a battle of the best offense of the cup vs the best defensive side of the tournament.

30th minute: Argentina scores, but the goal has been disallowed as an offside. Which it was.

Brother Leon 13-07-2014 07:31 PM

Lavezzi will hurt them.
