Blackpool Pleasure Beach voted best Theme Park in the UK

Quote:

When it comes to choosing our favourite theme parks, it seems the old ones are the best.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach has topped a holidaymakers' poll of the best amusement parks in the UK and even held its own in Europe, to be voted into the top 10 alongside Disneyland Paris and PortAventura in Spain.
Blackpool's Sandcastle Waterpark also proved a favourite with travellers - being placed eighth in a list of best European water parks.

While the Lancashire coastal resort - famous for its rollercoaster the Big One - was the UK's top entry in the best European theme parks, Paultons Park, home of Peppa Pig World, at Romsey in Hampshire, also made the list.
The attraction came second in the UK behind Blackpool Pleasure Beach and 10th in Europe overall, while Alton Towers failed to make it into the top 10 European attractions at all.
Instead, the Staffordshire Park took 12th place in Europe, and four other UK attractions made it into the European amusement park top 25.
Drayton Manor in Tamworth in Staffordshire was 13th, Thorpe Park in Chertsey in Surrey 14th, Brighton Pier in Sussex 18th and Fishers Farm in Wisborough Green in Sussex 21st.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Paultons Park were first and second in the best UK amusement park list, with Alton Towers third, Drayton Manor fourth and Thorpe Park fifth.
THE TOP 10 PARKS IN THE UK
1. Blackpool Pleasure Beach
2. Paultons Park, home of Peppa Pig World, Romsey, Hampshire
3. Alton Towers, Farley, Staffordshire
4. Drayton Manor, Tamworth, Staffordshire

6. Brighton Pier, Brighton

8. Sundown Adventureland, Retford, Nottinghamshire
9. GreenWood Forest Park, Y Felinheli, Gwynedd, Wales
10. Adventure Island, Southend-on-Sea, Essex
THE TOP 10 PARKS IN EUROPE
1. Europa-Park, Rust, Germany
2. PortAventura Park, Salou, Spain
3. Walt Disney Studios Park, Marne-la-Vallee, France
4. Disney Land Park, France
5. Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, Denmark
6. Gardaland Park, Castelnuovo del Garda, Italy
7. Zoomarine Algarve, Guia, Portugal
8. Efteling, Kaatsheuvel, The Netherlands
9. Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, United Kingdom
10. Paultons Park, Home of Peppa Pig World, Romsey, United Kingdom

New heights: Blackpool's famous rollercoaster The Big One is at its Pleasure Beach theme park

Blackpool Pleasure Beach managing director Amanda Thompson said: 'We are thrilled to be named the UK's best amusement park.

'We pride ourself on offering the best experience for a great day out.'
TripAdvisor spokesman James Kay said: 'Blackpool Pleasure Beach is not just the country's best-rated amusement park, it is also one of the cheapest for a family day out among the UK top 10, proving that great value often trumps bigger rides in the eyes of consumers.

Lightwater Valley home of "The ultimate" ?

The last theme park I went to was Flamingo Land about ten years ago.

The Yorkshire theme parks have been robbed on this list.

Glenn. 15-07-2014 04:56 PM

Thought it would of been Thorpe Park or Alton Towers tbh. Surprised at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Haven't been to Blackpool for years.

Lol,Is that thing still running?I went on that 20 years ago.I also remember going on the Super Looper and smacking my head on the bars multiple times and it getting stuck.Back when you came off a roller coaster with atleast 2 bruises.

The Pleasure Beach used to be better before the wristbands....now it costs a fiver or whatever to walk round the place when it always used to be free :fist: blackpools great for all the rides being close together but prefer a day out at Alton Towers. Not been to Thorpe Park since I was a kid but my brother lives in Chertsey so I might go next time I visit...

cheeky_monkey 15-07-2014 11:06 PM

Alton Towers is my favourite :)

Amy Jade 15-07-2014 11:18 PM

Alton Towers is fun I went recently and Smiler was really amazing but all 3 times I have been the waiting around kind of kills the fun a bit, at a few points the Sonic Spinball, The Smiler, Oblivion and Nemesis had waiting lines of over an hour.

Blackpool was more fun for me because even though it was busy the lines were shorter and it felt like we did loads more.

I think that the wristbands are a wise decision, it works out to be cheaper, instead of having to pay for all seperate rides.

This was the major flaw when I went, Got exhausted getting lost through this hill bit

AbbieJ 09-08-2014 01:44 PM

Woo! Go, Pleasure Beach. :cheer2: When I went to Alton Towers, all the main thrill rides were broken down and certain rides you could queue for up to an hour long. Ain't nobody got time for that

JoshBB 09-08-2014 02:10 PM

Never been to it.

I'm surprised that the Walt Disney one in Europe isn't first though.

joe199998293 09-08-2014 02:17 PM

I prefer Alton Towers but Blackpool has some good rides... I went to pleasure beach on Wednesday.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 09-08-2014 02:18 PM

trauma towers got closed :fist:
