Are you personally offended by 'swearing'

With the exception of racist/sexist/homophobic ones, are you personally offended when a person uses a swear word? Just curious as to everyone's opinion as someone brought it up in another post.

Ammi 10-08-2014 07:06 AM

..no, not at all, it's just the different way which people express things and in terms of TV programmes in general..?..if it's known that there will be a huge element in it then someone who would be offended should probably consider not watching it or accept that it's something that has to be overlooked etc and detached from....

joeysteele 10-08-2014 07:08 AM

No, not at all,I see little need for it but no it is commonplace now.

Ammi 10-08-2014 07:16 AM

..oh sorry, I only mentioned TV programmes because I didn't check which section this was in and thought it was part of the BB section.....but no, swearing doesn't offend me but working in an environment of a school though, I do have to talk to children as to why it's socially unacceptable in certain environments....

Marc 10-08-2014 07:27 AM

Nah I love a good swear

AnnieK 10-08-2014 07:41 AM

Swearing doesn't offend me...I prefer it when people can get their point across without the need to swear for no reason but I don't get offended.....

Marc 10-08-2014 07:42 AM

That's just ****ing ridiculous Annie

GypsyGoth 10-08-2014 08:20 AM

Swearing doesn't bother me, I do think there is a time and a place for it though.

Ammi 10-08-2014 08:22 AM

..usually Claudia's wall is the best time and place for it..(or PM if preferred..)..

..disclaimer:...please don't do that....

GypsyGoth 10-08-2014 08:34 AM

Pete. 10-08-2014 08:37 AM

No, only if its the C word especially if a man calls a woman it *Marlon*

Marc 10-08-2014 08:49 AM

I think women are just as capable of being the C word as well as men.

Don't be so sexist Pete

Crimson Dynamo 10-08-2014 09:08 AM

But does it actually offend you on a personal level?

Yes because most of the time it is either someone trying to show off or demonstrating their limited vocabulary.

Liam- 10-08-2014 10:29 AM

Any type of swearing doesn't offend me at all, even if its aimed at me, I'd be more offended by the way the swearing was being said, not the content itself

Kazanne 10-08-2014 10:31 AM

I swear a lot,but I do think there is a time and a place, for eg,I wouldn't swear infront of my parents,my kids or out at a function,I do it infront of my friends mainly and I do think it depents how it is said,do it under my breath a lot and on here

jackc1806 10-08-2014 10:36 AM

Nah it doesn't bother me

No,My misses swears like a mother******.I used to be the same but curbed it when i had a kid.

Ellen 10-08-2014 11:32 AM

Dont like swearing.
You hear it everywhere, its not nice.

booboomartin 10-08-2014 11:38 AM

i'm would not be offended if someone swore in my presence. however, i would be if they swore AT me. my opinion, and i am entitled to an opinion is that people who go round swearing in general conversation, have a limited vocabulary, and probably limited education, and don't know any better

If its offensive then yes. If its just a mild swear word and its not aimed at me then no.

I blame lack of sleep for that.

Jay. 10-08-2014 12:11 PM

Not in the ****ing slightest.

Jords 10-08-2014 12:17 PM

If somebody sweared AT me Id be offended but otherwise nope its part of human behaviour. Even uptight people who dont swear use replacement words in situations (stressed, hurt etc.) and are essentially censored 'swearing'.

Redway 10-08-2014 01:07 PM

Depends on the context obviously (being sworn at) but generally nope.

Tom4784 10-08-2014 01:15 PM

**** no.

Natalie. 10-08-2014 02:17 PM

Doesn't bother me even if it is aimed at me

billy123 10-08-2014 02:20 PM

I dont think hardly anyone is really but you wouldnt know it if you look at the BB board half of them have turned into Mary Whitehouse and become very delicate all of a sudden.

andybigbro 10-08-2014 04:18 PM

No.

I hate seeing wee kids swear though, or hate seeing adults swear I front of kids or too their kids, it just seems wrong.

Jack. 11-08-2014 12:22 AM

I couldn't give a **** about people swearing

mrflibble 17-08-2014 07:35 AM

Nope. I personally have never sworn because I have never really felt the need to, but they are just words and I couldn't care less. Context is the most important thing and non-swearing words can be worse than a generic swear word (eg, personal insults).

Both of my parents swear a lot, my younger brother swears and I grew up with South Park but I have the cleanest mouth ever
