Ola, from her letter to James, is in denial about his disgraceful and disgusting behaviour which makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.

I'm pretty sure Ola would know James more than anyone else having been together 14 (iirc) years, nothing else this series has gotten him emotional except for Ola, i'd imagine she is the only person who sees the deeper side to him.
