Angry mob hacks off alleged rapist's genitals with meat cleaver after dragging him into butchers

A man accused of trying to rape a teenage girl is in a critical condition after locals hacked off his genitals with a meat cleaver in a butcher shop.

After hearing terrified screams, an angry mob took the law into its own hands and dragged Suresh Kumar, 40, into a butchers in the city of Ganganagar, India.

He was found down an alley, pinning the terrified girl against a wall.

Following a community meeting, the vigilantes decided to drag him to a local butcher’s shop where they beat him with sticks for an hour, before chopping off his genitalia with a meat cleaver.

The remains were then dumped in the middle of the road with Kumar's bleeding body nearby.

Local Aamir Dhawan, 30, said: "No one went to help the man because they could see his penis on the ground and knew this was punishment for a sex crime.

"We have had a lot of intolerable offences against women in this country recently, with girls being raped, hung, and molested, and it’s time it stopped.

"This sends out a very strong message to anyone like that - if you do it you will be punished."

Police have called for those responsible to come forward.

A police spokesman said: "People cannot take the law into your own hands.

"As deplorable as these crimes are, law and order has to be maintained, and not lynch justice.

"We ask those men who carried out this attack to hand themselves in before we find them.

The man was eventually taken to hospital where doctors described his condition as critical.

The girl was treated for shock, and given counselling.

Mob justice is no justice but we are dealing with a very backward society who have little education so its no surprise

If he did it, then power to the people, but it does say that he was only 'suspected' so i guess it was a bit premature.

..I can't really see the 'satisfaction' in doing that to someone, it's just a barbaric act and kind of makes them as bad as him and no justice at all imo..

i really can see why you'd think that, but when I think about a poor innocent child/woman getting raped, forced to have sex against their will, I really couldn't care less about what happens to their attacker.

Just think about the discomfort and pain and fear the victim will have gone through. It's not even the painful rape, it's the following weeks and even years after it. It could completely ruin someones life, yet all the rapist cares about is getting sex. It's disgusting and I wish there were stricter punishments.

If he did rape someone, he deserves it. But again, as I said, I can totally understand your thoughts about this.

...I do understand Caitlin but if he has a family..mother/father/siblings etc..?..there is their pain involved as well and they haven't done anything, they're completely innocent..if someone hurt someone I loved, would I want their mother to feel the same pain as I would feel...why would I do that to her..?...I just don't believe in an eye for an eye type thing..it isn't up to anyone to decide his guilt and his punishment other than the law..

Not justifiable whatsoever

Nothing says justice like a brutal maiming before he's even found guilty, after all...

yeah that's true as well... i just dont normally think of the attackers family. I just feel for the victim.

and yeah, you're right. it is up to the law. he shouldnt have been attacked unless they were sure he was 100% guilty. (though that is just my opinion)

I can't help but feel that there could be a chance this lad didn't do anything or might not have even been going to rape her.

When you have mob justice like this it's so easy to accuse somebody of doing something without due process and with enough clout behind you accidents can happen.

Humans are fallible to lying and making mistakes.

Tragedy and misfortune is the basis of all humour --it's a 'coping' device.

Actually - to be deadly serious Kaz - It's Fking barbaric. He could have been trying to restrain an hysterical shoplifter he'd chased for all the thuggies knew. Even if they were right, he should have been handed over to the cops for due process of law to deal with. Kyle posted a valid post to the same effect.

Love & bullets, Kirk.

Rape..barbaric violation.

Castration..barbaric violation.

The mob are as bad as a rapist...and this man was not a proven rapist.

What a cock and ball story.... Not sure if this story hasn't been slightly exaggerated.

Well, going on the brief information in that article, the crowd were alerted by a woman's screams... they followed the screams and found this man "in an alley pinning the women to a wall" (I'm paraphrasing, despite the quotation marks.) I'm sure the crowd didn't pick this man at random and even though I'm a great advocate of a fair trial, preferably by jury, the disgusting, haunting reports of rape that I've read from India makes a part of me think, thank goodness rape is finally being taken seriously instead of being tolerated because women aren't worth as much as men. I would be interested to see more about this case though.

Frankly Scott, if I caught someone raping or attempting to rape a young girl, I'd cut his genitals off myself.

And as you mentioned, the way things were going in that country, a message needed to be sent.

And if you're considering a career change, I hear there are people who will pay good money to see that sort of thing...

Marc 11-10-2014 08:22 PM

Sick.

No body should have that happen to them, isn't this why laws exist? So people can be held accountable against them and punished accordingly?

The thousands of female rape victims in India who have been ignored and even punished for it are probably asking the same question.

According to the article he had pinned the girl against a wall.

Now I'm not saying he wouldn't have been going to rape her cos he probably would but unless Tom Cruise and pre-crime had it all worked out before hand then I don't know how they could be 100% sure.

Now if the article could explain a little more about the circumstances of his discovery, was he trying to forcibly tear her clothing, gag her mouth? Or was he trying to get at her belongings? It's a bit vague.

On the subject of mob retribution though which I thought this thread was about I still believe it is open to massive abuse. Don't like someone? Why not accuse them of apostasy and have them hung?

Novo 11-10-2014 08:59 PM

I agree with Livia

Its tough justice but its more justice then the woman would get with the system in India, at least now he will never get a chance to do it to someone else again, sounds like a better end game then him going free which would likely happen

Agreed.

Ammi 11-10-2014 09:12 PM

..it's totally sickening and wrong, it's not justice at all, it's just mutilation and makes them equally as bad as the 'guilty' if he was guilty ...but that wasn't for them to decide or to decide what his 'sentence' would be.....even if it's a country with very flawed laws, they're the only laws they have..without law there would only be chaos and mob rule and if the mob 'decide' then that will only make the situation far worse than it is already...two wrongs will never ever be right ....

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 11-10-2014 09:21 PM

If he had hurt a family member not sure I would have felt sorry for him.
