Is Big Brother past its use-by date?

Even though the ratings are a fraction of what they used to be
Do you think the format is now past its shelf life?

LukeB 11-10-2014 05:37 PM

depends

Daniel. 11-10-2014 05:39 PM

It's fine and still a great format but they should calm down with The Twists.

They need to pick a handful of interesting, diverse housemates and let them get on with it.

JoshBB 11-10-2014 05:42 PM

No, absolutely not! The show just needs a bit of a makeover tbh, keep it more like C4 bb but keep the housemates on the tv screens because I like that feature.

zakman440 11-10-2014 05:45 PM

If they sack the current producers and actually listen to the fans than it can still work.

Jordan. 11-10-2014 05:48 PM

Yes

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 11-10-2014 05:59 PM

been tripe for ages but BB13 was only 2 years ago and that is one of my fav series so idk

Jamesy 11-10-2014 06:09 PM

Yes and no.

The format itself is timeless and could easily last for many years to come. Although with current production it's a little bit of a mess. BB14 was a huge step in the right direction. Although with BB15 having twists every week, nominations played with and generally very dragged out edits (usually on negative events) the show still feels a bit messy. Mix that in with evictions of Marcus bellowing the countdown and cameras being waved around like toys, you would swear the show is being made by college students.

I think it has a future in the UK. Although all the channels don't seemed bothered to spruce it up and make the show great once again. Creating new shows is what UK television is all about at the moment.

Umm2

Firewire 11-10-2014 06:10 PM

I don't think it is. If they can produce a quality series then it could work for years. If they continue with BB14/15 then it has no life left at all.

Shaun 11-10-2014 06:58 PM

BB13 proved there's still potential, but not with this production team.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 11-10-2014 08:13 PM

no

BB7 was only good for nikki and aisleyne

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 11-10-2014 08:13 PM

and jayne kinda

Daniel. 11-10-2014 08:14 PM

Lea

Macie Lightfoot 11-10-2014 08:43 PM

BB7 is all about Susie Verrico tbh

Udanax 11-10-2014 08:47 PM

I actually think Nikki is just okay. Like yes she's iconic and she does have a lot of great moments but there are parts of the Nikki Grahame experience that are rlly uncomfortable.

Shaun 11-10-2014 08:48 PM

i like you, backwards xanadu.

nikki appreciation:love:

but it's a classic series tbh, BO Dawn, Bonneh, Pete:love:, Shahbaz, Lisa, they're all great:love:

It has the best half ever, let's just say that - and possibly the best first week

armand.kay 11-10-2014 10:49 PM

Here for survivor replacing ha x

Samm 11-10-2014 11:38 PM

No, as people have said BB13 was amazing, but it needs fixing at the state the normal series is at now, normal noms and no series twist, an axe the ****ing summer version that is completely dragging it

Beastie 12-10-2014 03:14 AM

No. It has life. The last series would have been better without the meddling. There is always at least a few housemates I like and root for. Everyone on Tibb needs to audition for next year.

lostalex 12-10-2014 03:25 AM

I think the celebrity version still works, but i think the civilian version is dead in the water, for both the UK and US versions.

ruiphillips 12-10-2014 06:08 AM

It should have ended after BB9.

andybigbro 30-10-2014 10:50 AM

No, I think it still receives enough attention from magazines etc.

Beastie 30-10-2014 06:11 PM

Civilian series >>> Celeb series.

Mystic Mock 30-10-2014 09:46 PM

No as all Ch5 has to do for BB is to put a 24/7 Live Feed service up on the Internet and to make money off of it the public can pay something like £5 a month to use the service.

lily. 30-10-2014 10:11 PM

Probably, but I will still watch it.. then complain that it isn't as good as it used to be. lol

swinearefine 30-10-2014 10:57 PM

-has given up on BBUK, the little I've heard about BB15 sounds ghastly and not at all like BB-

The format has potential, but it will never amount to anything. It could be a great show again if the producers had a shared brain cell and just put weird people in a house and left them the **** alone, but unfortunately they are committed to making BB nothing but a trashy waste of time. The only season worth watching since moving to C5 was CBB9 and the first little bits of BB14, before the universal slut shaming and bullying of Hazel both in-house and outside solidified C5 BB as the cesspit of television.

This is what I would like to see..

Braden 30-10-2014 11:01 PM

It wouldn't even be that bad if they just reverted back to letting normal people in the house, as oppose to fame-hungry people with starnow profiles.

Absolutely. Add a range of different people to the show and leave them be without a twist every day of the week, add characters that will obviously clash and let them do whatever as much as possible.

uniquedude 03-11-2014 04:50 PM

Plenty of life left. I loved bb13 and bb14, bb15 was just a bad run but not every year will be good. I do think final pass and killer nom was a bad idea but the housemates weren't good anyway so it didnt matter.

Cal. 03-11-2014 09:49 PM

No, it still has life left in it- that's the most frustrating thing. If the producers just avoided meddling so much and stopped making **** decisions, we could get a decent series!

Glenn. 03-11-2014 10:14 PM

Well jade goody left the milk out of the fridge so it's understandable that it soured.
